When it was announced that one of his guests this year would be Bruce Springsteen, the tickets were sold out before they were offered to the public, with some people paying as much as $8500 for a seat.
I was lucky enough to get a ticket presale, and had awesome seats in the loge, 2nd row, overlooking the stage.
Because Bruce wasn't playing with the E street Band, I assumed he would just play a few solo acoustic songs.
Following the Mastersons, Matt Savage, Willie Nile and Roseann Cash, Steve introduced Bruce, who walked out , plugged in his Telecaster, and, backed by the Dukes, opened with Darkness on the Edge of Town, and the crowd went wild! He followed that with Promised land, and brought out Willie Nile to join him on Glory Days, while the crowd sang the entire first verse. He ended his set with Steve Earle joining him for Pink Cadillac.
A hard act to follow, Steve brought out the Dukes and kept the energy level high.
Everyone joined Steve on stage for the finale, "Teach Your Children" which has become a sort of anthem for these benefits.
Bruce fans were not disappointed. He was in fine voice and the Dukes did a great job of backing him.
The concert raised over $100k for the Keswell School!
Awesome show!
