Stephen still has his amazing guitar ability and Judy has her pure voice!
I very much enjoyed this show! I went in not remembering much about Judy Colins but more about Steven Stills. I wanted to see what kind of music they would make together with such different styles. In the first song I found they were awesome together! Each had their turn in singing their hits which was nice. I really don't know how Judy Colin's could get those high notes out with so little effort -- it looked effortless! Steven Stills was a little off every so often but it didn't detract from the songs. Still enjoyed all of the show except there was a little bit too much gushyness when they talked about their past relationship for me. But I might do the same if I talked about a relationship that meant a lot to me. All can be forgiven. It was a great night of music and have liked more! No photos were allowed and I would have liked 1 but it did make the music more enjoyable without the phones up all the time including mine.
judy collins still has a fantastic voice but stills croaks the songs out of key. When they sang together it was disturbing.
Early anticipation was dashed by uneven performances and a boring intro act. Judy's voice was quite good and we enjoyed her singing. Steven would have been better off accompanying her on the guitar and joining in with their stories of the past. Unfortunately singing is no longer his strong suit. Over all the concert was a letdown that was lifted at times by Judy's singing. Maybe it was not a good idea to sing on Friday the 13th.
Nostalgic and entertaining. Judy Collins voice is still amazing.
What a rare opportunity to see two unforgetable performers share their music, hearts and souls with the audience and each other. A wonderful concert.
It helps to be in the front seat. The performers were outstanding. The Bergen PAC is a nice size venue for this type of event. I was surprised we were asked not to take photographs. Although there were a few cheaters. The audience was rather sedate but then again, I was probably one of the youngest in the crowd and that's not something that can be fixed. I can't upload photos (requested below) because they were dis-allowed.
It would have been better if they played two separate sets. Their voices didn't mix well. Judy was on key unfortunately Stephen wasn't. Although it wasn't that noticeable when he played solo. I'm a long time Stills fan and there were glimpses of his past greatness but this was not the best situation. Also the sound engineering was awful. Steves guitars were too loud and Judy's vocals were too low.
We have seen Judy Collins concerts many times, some in the BergenPac, and until recently, loved everyone of them. Her voice is still perfect, and we so enjoyed the stories she had to tell. Then last year, her concert included Don McLean. The combination had great possibilities, and Ms. Collins, singing solo, did not disappoint. But Mr. McLean's performance was so deafeningly loud, that we left after only a few songs. And we were not the only audience members who did. Then came last Friday night. Again, we thought that Collins and Stills would sound wonderful together - two such beautiful voices, in perfect harmony. But the backup band was so loud, we couldn't even hear the voices!! At least some of their duets would have been great with the two singers, two acoustic guitars, and one amp (and we were seated way up in the balcony!!). Don't forget your audience, made up mostly of older people who grew up listening to Crosby, Stills and Nash (and Young), either acoustic or only moderately amplified, and Judy Collins' version of Mr. Tambourine Man, Bring in the Clowns, and so many others. We will think twice about buying tickets again. Very, very disappointing!!
Judy Collins still has an incredible voice and a winning stage presence. Sills can play with the best of them, sadly his voice was uneven at best. Their stage banter was enjoyable and given the sheer volume of material in their respective catalogs, they did a really good job covering the years. Bergan PAC is a pretty nice venue. The seats, however, are the least comfortable of any theater I've visited in recent years. At least for this show they avoided the blinding, flashing lights used in the past and toned down the volume somewhat. There was no management presence in the house during the show. It was left to the audience to deal with loud, disruptive and obviously drunk attendees.
Just a wondrrful night of music and conversation by Judy Collins and Stephen Stills. Highly recommend...you won't be disappointed!!! But no pictures allowed because of distraction from the performances!!!
Great seeing Two legends on Stage together. Excellent Opening act. Liked the reminising and the song set. Brought me back years .
Judy Collins was fantastic. Stephen Still was fantastic on guitar, but his voice is really shot...big disappointment there, especially since they did several duets, and he was so off key.
I know Stephen and Judy are in their 70's and I had tempered my expectations. I was prepared for their voices not to be what I remembered from their albums- the sweet harmonies and joyous melodies! Well, after a 20 minute intro from a Nigerian Norwegian and his guitar player there was a 30 minute intermission. Judy and Stephen appeared on stage at 8:50- the audience was electrified and waiting for an evening of memories and song. Here's my experience: I winced when their voices came together and rather than finding a harmony- it was painful to hear the resulting note. My jaw dropped; I couldn't believe what I was hearing. The 2nd song was no better. I literally closed my eyes and gasped to myself; could they really be this bad? My wife and I gave it one more song...to no avail. We excused ourselves, and left the auditorium. Sitting there and listening was just too painful.
Stephen and Judy came out together playing guitars it just blew me away. The voice of an Angel and Stephen guitar. What a Awesome night to remember.
Ms Collins' voice is as clear and strong as when I heard her 45 years ago. Mr Stills can play guitar with anyone, a rock virtuoso. But these two people shouldn't be singing together. Mr Stills, please do the background and let her sing the lead whenever practically possible. Enjoyed the show.
This was my sixth time seeing Judy Collins live and my second time seeing Stephen Stills. Although many years have passed since then, they are still both wonderful performers. I was amused by Stephen Stills referring to Buffalo Springfield as the "cartoon band". I always thought they were one of the best ever, and definitely ahead of the times with their music. I was thrilled to share the experience with my wife, who though she had never seen her perform live before shares my love Judy Collins, and now more than ever. It was an evening we will always remember. And I have to admit, Suzanne brought a tear to my eye.
Stephen Stills is amazing!!! He hasn't lost an ounce of talent. He & Judy together put on a fabulous show. I'm so glad I went.
Judy Collins, great! She still has an awesome voice. Would have been more happy with the event if it was only Collins. Can't quite see why she teamed up with Stephen Stills, his voice and guitar skills definitely aren't stellar.
for their ages judy collins is still outstanding. stephen seemed to struggle at times . the story telling was also enjoyable. would have liked a few more of both of their hits. only complaint was started over half hour after warmup act(who was also good considering his health) and security poor performance with flash photos.
