Oh, this show was depressing...
by Mosaicqueen on 5/14/18Uptown Theatre Napa - NapaRating: 1 out of 5I'm such a Steve Stills fan. I've seen him at least 6 times beginning in 1974, with CSNY, CSN, and as a solo act. The last time I saw him was about 5 years ago. HIs voice is shot. Just gone. But the last time I saw him he still had some chops as far as his guitar playing, and simply bringing it as far as a rock and roll show.
That's gone. His singing with Judy Collins was very restrained, very diminished. I thought that perhaps he was saving himself for later in the show. Nope. When he sang (croaked) alone, I actually cringed a couple of times. His guitar playing didn't approach what he's done in the past. No soul, no sass, no lovely finger picking. I LOVED him, I still love the Stills I knew for 40+ years, but I have to say that the guy I saw the other night just pissed me off. He has no business touring any more. I'm so sad to even write this, but every one of us will reach the time when our contributions aren't all that useful...and believe me, he's there. Oh, and he and Judy Collins have the nerve to sell merchandise in the lobby.
His manager is a scam artist.
The venue is wonderful, though.
