  • Enjoyable Show

by RockingRob on 4/16/10House of Blues Orlando - OrlandoRating: 4 out of 5

I've always wanted to see Steven Stills.I drove from Tampa to Orlando after work on a Thursday and just made it by 8:00.Then he didn't hit the stage until 8:20. He played a good set including some C,S,N,&Y,but there were a few songs I would of liked to hear.He played well ,but not as well I as I hoped .I guess for as long as I've wanted to see him my expectations were pretty high.Over all he was a good show and I got my moneys worth.

Avoid this show.Stills can't hit the notes and the band couldn't save him.I'm not sure they even practiced.Stills is was a great artist in his day and I respect his library of songs but hang it up.Between songs we had to hear his political speaches.I wanted to be entertained no lectured.I left at intermission.Steven this is 2010 and Woodstock is over.

  • Stephen Stills isn't done yet

by Mosaicqueen on 3/25/10Grove of Anaheim - AnaheimRating: 4 out of 5

A great (but short) show at a nice venue. The crowd was respectful and well behaved. I liked that because I don't need people yelling during the acoustic set. Stephen Stills did two great sets, although I wish he'd stop covering 'Dear Mr. Fantasy'. His (small) backup band was fantastic; all veteran performers who have played with him forever. Stills is my guitar hero and always will be. Nothing is lost there. His voice is holding on, but of course is diminished, although he was clearly delighted when he -very nearly - hit a high note. All that said, I'd go seem him again tonight if I could.

  • Great Show

by RichardC on 3/24/10Grove of Anaheim - AnaheimRating: 4 out of 5

I had never seen Stephen Still before and for that matter I have never seen CSN. The show was broken into two parts, basicly an acoustic set and then an electric set. I have to say that I prefered the acoustic set, probably because he is better known for his acoustic playing, That being said, he is an amazing electric guitar player. I have since found out that is rated #28 on Rolling Stones list of greatest guitar players. The voice is still there. He joked with the audience and appeared to be having a good time. There were the typical two encores. I would want to see him again.

  • Stephen Stills up close was great!

by Windwalker on 3/23/10Grove of Anaheim - AnaheimRating: 5 out of 5

The show started perhaps 9:10 to 9:15pm, which was fine as the dinner crew hadn't quite finished cleaning up. We were in the 2nd row of tables, which is about 50' from the stage. If you want to see what the show was like go get his latest dvd 'live at shepherd's bush'. Highly recommended. Stills was animated and hit the high notes all the time. Sound quality was great, and perhaps a wee bit louder than what it is at an outdoor concert, say when they are at The Greek. Just him and his 3 piece band: Joe Vitale on drums, todd caldwell on keyboards, an I've forgotten the bass players name. lasted about 2 hours, not including a 20 minute break. The 1st half was all acoustic, and it was just him on the stage. Awesome

Great show, had never seen him play before, enjoyed it very much, great venue for me as I am mobility impaired! No climbing over people to get to my seat 4 stars

  • Stills still has it!

by dorise on 3/23/10Grove of Anaheim - AnaheimRating: 5 out of 5

This was one of the best performance from stills, he is in top form. I have seen almost all his past performances and all the group ones also. He is still one of the greatest guitar players out there. He had the whole audience mesmerized. The dinner food was great. I will remember this concert as one of the BEST

  • Stephen Stills rocked the house!

by rocknrollmamacita on 3/22/10Grove of Anaheim - AnaheimRating: 5 out of 5

Stephen Stills has always been one of my favorite guitarists and he did not disappoint at the Grove or at the Music Box! I have seen CSN, CSNY at least 20 times and Stills solo three times now. I have seen alot of shows and Stills at House of Blues in 07 was still one of my favorite concerts. Starting with a slower more acoustic set, Stills was in great voice on Saturday night! (his voice at the Music Box started off a little rough due to a very late sound check, but got better as the evening went along) and great humor. He seemed to genuinely enjoy performing and the energy of the crowd. After a short break, he went all out rock and roll playing some dazzling guitar solos on Buffalo Springfield classics like Bluebird, Rock and Roll Woman and the crowd favorite For What its Worth. He also did a rockin' cover of Dear Mr Fantasy and his big hits Southern Cross, and of course Love the One You're With. During the acoustic set, Stills killed it on Change Partners hitting all of the high notes better than I had heard him in years. My husband is a tough critic and he even thought Stills was fantastic!

As Stephen said he can still hit the high notes. Enjoyed the concert immensely, good old comfort sounds. Initially the hall was a bit chilly. Next time we will bring a sweater.

  • Best I've heard him in 25 years....Stills Rocks!

by nishjo on 3/22/10Grove of Anaheim - AnaheimRating: 5 out of 5

3-20-2010 at the Grove of Anaheim. BTW, the dining and bar experience at the venue was outstanding, great venue very intimate. Mr. Stills (sober?) at the top of his game on this particular evening....I was a little worried, having seen CSNY about two years ago for a VERY uneven show...off key, out of tune etc. but tonight Mr. Stills reminds us of why Guitar Player rates him #28 in the world. His acoustic set smoked with Stills attacking his Martins as only Stills can, flashing some of the fire from decades ago. His voice, admittedly the historic weak point of some of his performances, on fire tonight! No, he can't hit some of the high notes like he did 40 years ago, but who can? The best acoustic set I've seen Stills play since the 70's, and tonight's rendition of Johnny's Garden moved me to tears. OK, break out the Gretsch White Falcons and the Strats. Jimi Hendrix was quoted that Stills was his favorite guitarist to jam with and the electric set shows us why. At this stage of his career Stills is so comfortable with all of this...gone is the angry young man, and the drunken, reluctant rock star...he seems resigned to his place in Rock History. He can still effortlessly rock the house and did exactly that. A great show.

  • Unforgettable!!!!!

    by dgfan1 on 3/22/10Grove of Anaheim - AnaheimRating: 5 out of 5

I read the review in the paper before going to this concert and was mildly concerned. Wow, was this critic way wrong . He must be hard of hearing if he thought Stephen even missed "one" beat. He was absolutely amazing!!! This concert was outstanding in every way. Stephen knows how to work a song to his capabilities. He never missed a beat. His interaction with the audience was fantastic. This was the perfect venue for an "up close and personal " concert. I have seen CSN many times and never been disappointed. This is probably one of my all time favorites!!!!

  • Stephen Stills was fantastic!

by Chorey on 3/22/10Grove of Anaheim - AnaheimRating: 5 out of 5

I haven't seen Stephen Stills in years, and I was not disappointed in this last concert. His selection of music was just right playing a lot of the songs I hoped he would play. His easy style with the audience and sense of humor was an added treat. He spoke to the crowd often. He still has the same voice and could really sing the songs as I remember them. His skill on the acoustic and electric guitars were amazing to watch and listen to. The audience demonstrated how much they enjoyed his show by singing and dancing to most of his songs. They were on their feet through most of the evening. He and his band deserved the standing ovation they received at the end following two encores. It was also nice to see a performer demonstrate how much he appreciated the audience's reaction to his music and talent.

  • Stills still rocks

  • Classic Stills

by vbgreg on 3/21/10Grove of Anaheim - AnaheimRating: 5 out of 5

Stephen Stills was on top of his game. First rate guitar skills and vocals accompanied by a solid band of first rate veterans. Stephen showed what you can do with God given talent, practice and experience. His acoustic guitar playing is as good as anybody's.

  • Rock and Roll is still alive

  • Stills was having fun

by excellenttinman on 3/21/10Grove of Anaheim - AnaheimRating: 5 out of 5

This was a standout performance. Stills had a very appreciative audience that responded to every song. There was an interesting selection of songs from CSNY classics to the wonderful Traffic favorite "Dear Mr. Fantasy". The band was tight and the atmosphere was outstanding. The man still has it.
