  • Stephen Stills - Rough start, but good show

by DrewMasie on 5/28/14Fox Performing Arts Center - RiversideRating: 3 out of 5

Stephen Stills is one of my favorite artists, and I've seen him solo and with CSN several times. This was a good show but his voice was rough and the first 2 or 3 songs sounded terrible. He forgot some of the lyrics to "Southern Cross", but the crowd was behind him and supportive. Once he started to warm up it was better. The second half of the show was much stronger.

  • This is the year!

by anotherbrother on 5/28/14Fox Performing Arts Center - RiversideRating: 5 out of 5

For all of you out there in Stephen Stills Fandomlabd, THIS is the year! Stephen is at a high peak in his career...I know for I,ve seen all solo shows over all of the years. Both he and Crosby, who I saw in April, are in fine, fine voice. In recent years Stephen took about three-four songs for his voice to 'break-in' but not last Sunday. Hot show, tight band, AND Stephen said there will be a new cd & tour from the Rides next year...Oh boy!

  • Stills has Lost His Voice

by Leahyar on 5/28/14Fox Performing Arts Center - RiversideRating: 2 out of 5

After the first five songs I was ready to leave. I wasn't sure if Stills was drunk, high, or simply lost his voice, but he sounded sad and awful. My husband insisted on staying, painful though it was. I do have to admit that the second half of the show, did seem to get better. So maybe he was more sober?...

  • Stills is still among the greatest

by SSNYsuperfan on 5/28/14Fox Performing Arts Center - RiversideRating: 5 out of 5

Stills' voice is clearly not what is once was but who's voice is at 69? But he even acknowledges that so critics should chill out. As for the electric segment Stills can play and jam as well as he ever could. It would be icing on the cake to see him do so with N. Young again too!

  • Stephen Stills in Riverside. Great!

by fstrc02 on 5/28/14Fox Performing Arts Center - RiversideRating: 5 out of 5

Over 2 hours of Stephen Stills. Half with Stills doing mostly acoustic and half with Stills and his 3 pc. band. Not just Stills music but also Dylan and Neil Young songs. Stills confirmed in my mind what a good guitar player he is as he was the only guitar player on stage the whole night. From accoustic fingerpicking to soaring blues rock leads. A fantastic musician,singer-song writer and stage pressence. See Stephen Stills.

  • Steve can't sing anymore

by Nicknamemybutt on 5/28/14Fox Performing Arts Center - RiversideRating: 2 out of 5

Steven Stills should take BOTH the suggestions he got from Tony Bennett about how to prolong a singing career and go down a register. Listening to his voice crack trying to hit the higher notes was painful. When he did occasionally go lower, his old richness was still there. And cut down the volume. The second half of the concert was much too loud, painfully so, even up in the mezzanine. No wonder Stills is going deaf!

  • Stephen Stills

by BlindFaithFan on 5/28/14Fox Performing Arts Center - RiversideRating: 5 out of 5

Wow! What an amazing show! We've seen him live before - solo, as part of CSN, CSNY and Buffalo Springfield - but this was an awesome performance! He was chatty, funny and he sounded FABULOUS! If you love his music - from any time period - you will enjoy this show.

  • Way past his expiration date.

by HyLite on 5/28/14Fox Performing Arts Center - RiversideRating: 1 out of 5

His voice is GONE! Guitar work: Loud does not mean good. A lot of slurred riffs and distortion i.e. Link Wray stuff. I felt embarrassed for the guy.

  • Stephen Stills stills has it!!

by gacela1972 on 5/28/14Fox Performing Arts Center - RiversideRating: 5 out of 5

Bought my tickets for Vegas event, but later it was canceled. I was dissapointed, at first I tough I lost my chance to met him. Hopefully I found out that Riverside was available and it was perfect for my schedules. I'm ashamed to say this was my first Stephen's concert, why I wasted so many time!! It was great and I want to see him again...

  • Great music, straining vocals

by DEB24 on 5/28/14Fox Performing Arts Center - RiversideRating: 2 out of 5

We have never seen Stephen Stills perform solo before. The music catalog was great! The vocals were painful to listen to and we ended up opting to leave the performance at the intermission. It may be that his singing has never been that good. His music IS! The time on the tickets indicated 6:30 with an abbreviation of D/R next to the time. It turns out that the doors opened at 6:30 PM but the performance did not start until 7:45. Could have enjoyed dinner prior had we known. We've been to other performances at the Fox Theater in Riverside and the time on the tickets was accurate (I checked!) The Fox Theater is an incredible theater with great seats throughout. It has been meticulously refurbished to its' original grandeur and should be experienced. We travel from L.A. to enjoy the shows in this theater.

  • He has lost his voice

by Loves60sand70smusic on 5/28/14Fox Performing Arts Center - RiversideRating: 1 out of 5

Stephen Stills stills plays an amazing guitar. Unfortunately, his throat cancer took the best of his voice and the first 10 songs were totally out of key. I left early and felt very sad as this incredible icon should not be singing on stage.

  • Stephen has had better days :-(

by notw on 5/28/14Fox Performing Arts Center - RiversideRating: 2 out of 5

For whatever reason, the show began over one hour late. Our anticipation was met with a Stephen Stills who is just a shadow of his former, younger self. He tried hard, but his voice was weak and his memory of some lyrics was gone. We were very disappointed in the overall performance. The topper was that he did not do "Carry On", his well known signature song.

  • He was terrible

by WeekendCowboy on 5/28/14Fox Performing Arts Center - RiversideRating: 1 out of 5

After driving an hour to see him. My girlfriend and I walked out after 2 1/2 songs. He was drunk or high and his voice cracked. He screeched some notes and sounded terrible. An Amature would have sounded better. He should retire and not put people through this horrible experience

  • He was terrible

by WeekendCowboy on 5/28/14Fox Performing Arts Center - RiversideRating: 1 out of 5

My girlfriend and I stayed for 2 1/2 songs and walked out. This was the worse concert I have ever been to. We drove an hour each way to see him and was very disappointed. I think he came out drunk or high and his voice was cracking. He missed hitting notes and screeched at times. He should give up singing and retire instead of making people suffer. It was terrible!!!

  • by Anonymous on 5/28/14Fox Performing Arts Center - RiversideRating: 1 out of 5

his voice was bad....could not hit the notes...I know he is old...but he really needs to not tour...it was disappointing...

  • disappointed

by Anonymous on 1/13/12Birchmere - Alexandria VARating: 1 out of 5

As a long time CSNY fan, a recent Stephen Still performance was VERY disappointing. Unfortunately no where NEAR his previous level

  • by Anonymous on 11/27/11City National Grove of Anaheim - AnaheimRating: 5 out of 5

He gave an outstanding performance. He sounded and played excellent!

  • Watching a Legend

by Allenb4 on 11/26/11City National Grove of Anaheim - AnaheimRating: 5 out of 5

    Just saw Stephen Still by himself, with Buffalo Springfield, and many times with CSN, and Young. A very polished performer with "Musical History" in his every song. Yes, his voice is not a strong as it was 40 years ago, but he can still Crank it out. He is also a Great Guitar Player!! The Boy Can Play!! Love ya' Stephen!!! A "Don't Miss" Concert {We are ALL Getting Older!!!}

  • Stills was very good, but Pegi Young was boring.

by Pimpadocious on 11/25/11City National Grove of Anaheim - AnaheimRating: 3 out of 5

Stills was the best I had ever seen him perform, but Pegi Young played too many slow songs and did not setup the night well.

  • Excellent

by ratdog11111 on 11/25/11City National Grove of Anaheim - AnaheimRating: 5 out of 5

Second time at the Grove for Stills. He looked and sounded healthier and better this time. Like the song sets better the last time, however still a great time and great show.
