  • I can see why they didn't last as a couple

by CornyMack on 7/31/17Cain Park - Cleveland HeightsRating: 1 out of 5

Judy Collins can still hit most of her notes in her extraordinary range. Steven Stills voice hasn't changed that much. so their solo numbers we good. But their duets were...sadly awful. Steven's jazz-like phrasing left Judy late or early on many lyrics She often seemed flat trying to match his voice. I love them both, but together they were hard to listen to. Suite for Judy Blue Eyes will never be the same. Oh well, it was a perfect summer night. An older and forgiving crowd. Nobody died. Just my hopes for a great concert.

  • Stills and Collins

by StillStillsFan on 7/31/17Cain Park - Cleveland HeightsRating: 3 out of 5

Individually each performer was fantastic. Stephen with his beautiful voice and Judy- definitely a ruby throated sparrow. But, together they could not find the same key. Attempts to harmonize were challenging at best, and pretty bad too often. This was early in their tour. I hope they find their grove because this opportunity is probably once in a lifetime. In the end I would have been happiest of each did their own set individually and then maybe sang once together. I was disappointed.

  • Judy Collins saved the night

by juniorbowles on 7/31/17Cain Park - Cleveland HeightsRating: 4 out of 5

Apparently this show was their second time out, and it showed- it took a couple songs to even get close to harmony. Stills voice was shot, but anybody whose been paying attention already knew that about him. I dont know how they had the monitors set up for them but it seemed that he could not hear what Judy C was singing? Anyway, she then had to beat around the bush to try and match his off key warblings, I started to hope they would just turn his mike down. Collins, on the other hand, found her feet and as the show went on, sang so clear it was absolutely remarkable. By the end she was carrying the show, but in a very nice way. It was still cool to see and hear Stills play his different guitars, he never really rocked out but instead was selective in his playing, extending and bending notes, etc. This style matched the overall gist of the show, which was more folksy than rock. Stills' high point was his solo "treetop flyer". Collins played a 12 string all night, which was cool. She had several high points and songs. Together, I liked their rendition of Bluebird (Buffalo Springfield tune). The two of them engaged in some folksy banter, about the old days, including a reference to Joan Collins, so old-timer stuff for sure. Crowd was super respectful- you could hear a pin drop during the ballads. But they were too old and tired- few ever stood up at all, so not much energy from the crowd.

  • Stills & Collins were not good

by Tammywoo on 7/31/17Cain Park - Cleveland HeightsRating: 1 out of 5

Excited to hear them, but they were not good at all. Giving them the benefit that maybe they couldn't hear each other at first, which is why they sounded like they were singing two different songs. That part improved a little as the night went on. We left early, as they didn't sound good and it made us sad. Glad I only spent money on lawn seats. (Also, she had to get in a few political digs . . . leave it alone.) Cain Park is great, though!

  • Out of Sync

by CainParkRocks on 7/31/17Cain Park - Cleveland HeightsRating: 3 out of 5

Love Cain Park, attend every year. This concert was a bit disappointing. The performers were not in sync. It was as if they did not rehearse? Politics became part of the show. It would be nice if we could just enjoy the show we paid for with out it becoming a personal agenda. These performers are very fortunate, yet express distaste for United States. Where else can they go to make the living they have. They have an opportunity to uplift people, what good are they doing by being so critical. We should wish the USA well and its leaders.

  • Stephen Stills/Judy Collins

by AvonLakeCarol on 7/31/17Cain Park - Cleveland HeightsRating: 2 out of 5

Judy Collins is quite the performer. She still has a great voice! Stephen on the other hand....was off key and little slower. Disappointed best describes our evening. The songs they selected may have been their favorites but definitely NOT what we were expecting. The many conversations between the two of them were probably better than what they shared with their audience. Have spent many nights at Cain Park and this was the least favorite of them all.

  • Disappointed

    by Freebird14 on 7/31/17Cain Park - Cleveland HeightsRating: 2 out of 5

Set list good. Sound system very bad. Judy Collins should keep political views to herself! Judy talks about herself too much & should sing more! Stephen Stills solos were excellent!!!

  • Disappointing

by Cwcoolcow on 7/31/17Cain Park - Cleveland HeightsRating: 2 out of 5

Voices did not blend well together. Often Judy and Stephen used different phrasing of the lyrics. Sang too many songs together. Would have like more individual efforts. Stephen did not sing many of his "hit" songs that I thought he would. Often used alternative arrangements.

  • Stills and Collins are still good.

    by LARS3RD on 7/31/17Cain Park - Cleveland HeightsRating: 4 out of 5

Steven Stills and Judy Collins were once partners, but now they are musical partners. They sang songs together and alone. Besides vocals, Steven played some nice guitar. He had at least 5 electric and two acoustics to wield for the musical tasks he performed. They opened with a Traveling Will berry's song. They did a song Judy recorded by Ian and Sylvia about a romance with a Rodeo man. I think it is titled Someday Soon. Stills performed songs he recorded with CSN as well as solo tracks and Buffalo Springfield. They closed with an abbreviated version of Judy Blue eyes, omitting the first verses and starting with Chestnut brown canaries until the closing scat part. It was their second gig, and occasional their vocals were out of sync. In time these songs will get tighter as they tour. Judy was especially in good voice that night. I would go again for sure.

  • Sweet & Sour

Judy Collins was great when she sang solo even better than the last time we saw her. Stephen Stills was BAD on his own and in harmony with Judy. It was worse than any opening group at any concert! I'm surprised that local dogs were howling from the sounds coming out of Cain Park. I wish I could have my money back!

  • Still Stills...

by JustASinner on 10/2/15Belly Up - Solana BeachRating: 4 out of 5

Stephen Stills never does disappoint. Despite a somewhat rough vocal opening and a completely awkward G-spot joke, he quickly slipped into gear. He performed mostly everything you'd want to hear plus some new songs that were not particularly noteworthy on first listen. The thing is, with an artist of this stature the crowd soaked up everything he had to give with great appreciation. My BF, who attended the next night's show observed that this was not the case then. Embarrassingly, a member of his own party who shall (luckily for her) remain nameless chattered shamelessly on about how his voice didn't sound the same. Listen people, if you want to drink to excess and loudly pontificate about things NOBODY on the planet really cares about, take yourself to the nearest dive bar post haste and don't ruin the show for those of us who came to listen and most of all, do not disrespect a living legend.

  • Stephen Stills is a great guitar player

by WVU1Fan on 7/30/15Fox Performing Arts Center - RiversideRating: 4 out of 5

Stills can still rock on the guitar with the best of them. His voice shows the strain of the years etc but overall a good show

  • Stephen Stills was such a joy!!

by HappyStillsFan on 7/30/15Fox Riverside - RiversideRating: 5 out of 5

A long time dream came true! I have loved his music and amazing guitar skills forever. This was my first time seeing him live. He hit all the expected classics as well as some newer fun bluesy pieces. I loved how he put a fresh spin on everything without losing the soul of the songs we know so well. He was chatty and fun! The next time he passes through, I will definitely be there!!

  • Stills Still Has It

by DBronx on 7/27/15Birchmere - AlexandriaRating: 4 out of 5

There is no question that Stephen Stills is still an amazing guitar player, whether on acoustic or electric. His voice, however, simply does not have the range it did when he was younger, and my feeling most of the night was that he should sing his older songs in a lower register so that he doesn't have to strain to reach the higher notes. But his passion remains, and that's what really counts. His backing band was tight, and the woman who sang harmonies on some of the numbers -- I didn't catch her name -- complemented Stephen nicely. It was an excellent evening of music.

  • Stephen was good.

    by None13 on 7/26/15Buckhead Theatre - AtlantaRating: 3 out of 5

I truly love Stephen Stills. He is my all time favorite song writer and singer. Man, can he play guitar and bring out some real emotion. But after seeing this concert, I'm thinking it's time for him to retire and enjoy life in Malibu. God Bless You Stephen and thanks for all the great music you've made over the last 50+ years !

  • Fantastic show!!

by bbfromSouthCarolina on 7/21/15Buckhead Theatre - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

There were some songs that his voice was questionable but the guitar was fabulous. Enjoyed all of his music. Wonderful balance front CSNY to Manassas to their new album. Loved every minute of this show.

  • Stephen Stills...still an amazing performer!

Loved the show. Always catch Stephen when he is passing through town.

  • You probably should be a die hard Stills fan.

Steven Stills is an absolute hero to me. His music in all the different versions, solo and with bands, is woven into the fabric of my life. I was thrilled to have an opportunity to see him solo in such an intimate venue. I've seen CSN&Y the past two summers and noticed a decline in Stills singing ability. I expected the same this time. The decline is now significant. The first part of the show I was heartbroken to hear him sing so poorly, to experience the existential sadness of aging and the loss that comes with fading physical abilities. I first listened to Buffalo Springfield in early high school, so I know first hand the awful knowing that I continue to lose a step. So my grief was not only for Stephen, but for all of us in this age group as we are yet, "Another day closer to death." As I more fully accepted his less than adequate voice, I could better focus on his musical genius and the terrific music his band produced. The show got better for me as I joined in with what felt like a communal energy boldly staring into the face of passing time and saying, "We're not dead yet!" :) We sang along at times and added a chorus to help him sing and I relived many of the emotions permanently tied to his music. The overall experience was bittersweet. My timing was such that upon leaving, Stills was coming out the door headed to his tour bus. I stopped to watch him pass, to say thank you and watch as he struggled up the steps of the bus like the older man he is. I can't fault him for doing what he loves. Why should he stop because his voice isn't what it was? I won't stop playing golf because I can't hit the ball as far as I used to. So play on Stephen. "Do not go gentle into that good night." • stephen stills still great after all these years

by binxclg on 7/21/15Buckhead Theatre - AtlantaRating: 4 out of 5

What a wonderful concert! His vocal range and power have diminished with time but his voice warmed up half way through the first set. Renditions of Johnny's Garden and Suite JBE were worth the price of admission alone. Guitar playing was a joy to hear and watch. Could have listened to him forever. His banter and back stories were a joy and a true rarity to experience. Do Not miss the opportunity to see him on this tour. You will truly find it a memorable joy.

  • Nice Look Back in Time

by rakbaum on 7/21/15Buckhead Theatre - AtlantaRating: 4 out of 5

This was a great show in a small setting. A 2 set show of Stephen Stills and his 3 side players filled with a number of songs from different parts of his career. No doubt that time has diminished his vocals to a degree; however, his skills on both acoustic and electric guitar were on display. I think that he has always been underrated as a musician. Stephen seemed very comfortable communicating with the audience. He allowed his band members to take some time to shine in a few solos. But ultimately it was an audience for him. Very happy I went.
