  • Stephen and Judy were magical. History was made!

by Jofomojo on 8/15/17Birchmere - AlexandriaRating: 5 out of 5

Wife's birthday present turned out to be a great nite to be alive. While Stephen mumbled some, Judy was able to onsistently brought him back to the evening's game. Her high end added to his Buffalo Springfield songs was exact and memorable. Her French folk song-like deliveries on several of her songs brought back memories. Stephen's guitar solos were also impactive. We look forward to the album in September. And the Birchmere's food and service was better than expected!

  • Stills sizzles and Collins voice amazes!

    by GatorGirl18 on 8/15/17Birchmere - AlexandriaRating: 5 out of 5

The Birchmere never disappoints in delivering an unforgettable experience. The music is classic and music lovers sold out both shows. Stills guitar was on fire and Judy's voice is still like silk. Highly recommend this show. Their chemistry and banter take you back in time. The music is awesome. They sing together and alone. This is a full show, with so many songs to choose, some favs may be missed but many were played. Loved Cohen's "Everybody Knows" and Stills "Treetops Flyer". Ok. It's true I am a forever fan. Yup. LOVED IT. Not to be missed. Drink it up.

  • So awesome

by Quackiesmom on 8/15/17Birchmere - AlexandriaRating: 5 out of 5

This concert was so completely awesome! Judy Collins' voice was INCREDIBLE!! So clear and so perfectly on pitch! It was fantastic! Stephen Stills guitar playing was completely on point! They both fit little stories/antidotes between the songs which gave one a glimpse into the background/personnel lives.. You could tell that they really enjoyed working together!

  • Stephen Stills a Big Disappointment

by StellaMay on 8/15/17Birchmere - AlexandriaRating: 3 out of 5

The only reason I gave this performance a 3 is because we are huge Judy Collins fans. As usual, she was a warm, genuinely unselfish performer in touch with her audience; we can never get enough of her voice or personality. Her voice and guitar playing are still wonderful, and the backup band was terrific! On the other hand, Stephen Stills was boring and boorish, and we didn't appreciate his use of the F-word on stage, or his several references to dope which seemed childish at this stage. There were times when I couldn't figure out what he was doing with the guitar, it was not in harmony with the song. You could hardly hear his voice because the instruments were so loud; there was good reason for this. It's hard to say this because I loved CSN and he is a fabulous songwriter, but I think he is one of those performers who should stop singing in public, and Judy Collins is better off without him. I wouldn't spend money on him again, but will always go see her whatever the ticket price.

  • Stills was very disappointing

by Schwertzy on 8/15/17Birchmere - AlexandriaRating: 2 out of 5

Judy was great however would not have paid $125 to see her.

  • Collins sings beautifully

    by mus1cl0ver on 8/14/17Atlanta Symphony Hall - AtlantaRating: 4 out of 5

During the first few numbers that Judy and Stills performed, the music was far too loud - it was almost impossible to hear the singing. During the solos, the music was quieter and the singers stood out, as they should. Judy Collins still has a lovely voice and I greatly enjoyed her singing. Stills was fantastic on the guitar, but his voice wasn't as good and he wasn't always on key.

  • What a voice

by reubenstump on 8/14/17Birchmere - AlexandriaRating: 4 out of 5

Collins stole the show. I'd never seen her live before, and her voice was incredible. Just absolutely, incredibly pure. As I was walking out at the end of the show others were saying the same thing. Her voice really shone when she sang solo with minimal input from the band. Unbelievable.

  • Overall terrible! But loved Judy Collins

by Mmmdan on 8/14/17Atlanta Symphony Hall - AtlantaRating: 1 out of 5

Her voice is still exceptional! Unfortunately the settings of the acoustics for Stephen Stills Guitar pretty much drowned everything else out! Also his voice was off key, cracking and in general pretty bad, just sad. The high spots were when Judy Collins sang solo. Their voices together was absolutely painful to the ears. No harmony at all. I have to say I was very disappointed especially after spending so much on tickets.

  • An enjoyable evening

by skilos on 8/14/17Birchmere - AlexandriaRating: 4 out of 5

Judy Collins still has a beautiful voice. Stephen Stills is a great songwriter and guitar player, but his voice was shaky at times. Overall a very enjoyable evening with a great selection of songs. Would have liked a more extended version of Suite Judy Blue Eyes.

  • Great Team and Great Chemistry

by Silica on 8/14/17Birchmere - AlexandriaRating: 5 out of 5

It was a great concert. Judy Collins still has an exceptionally beautiful voice. Stephen Stills added an element of energy to provide a concert which was enhanced by their synergy.

  • Mixed Bag

by DeotisC on 8/14/17Birchmere - AlexandriaRating: 3 out of 5

Good to see Stills and Collins perform together; their genuine friendship was touching. Collins voice, stage presence and professionalism was superb. Still put up a good fight but he was struggling, and at times it was painful, especially for fans who saw him at his early 70s peak. We had a few glimpses of the old magic, but they were few and far between. You can always count on some nice guitars and he brought 12; 6 acoustics and 6 electrics.

  • Too many trips around the sun

by Vimont on 8/13/17Atlanta Symphony Hall - AtlantaRating: 3 out of 5

First of all I am a huge Stills, CSN, CSNY, Buffalo Springfield, Mananas, etc fan. Seeing Stills, one of my musical heroes, on stage was great. However, I think we may have seen one of his last tours. He is a musical genius and a great song writer. However, these days his voice isn't as good as it was 5 years ago, he forgot some of the lyrics and his guitar licks were a little off. I would be luck to be able to do what he's doing at 72. His presence on stage with Judy Collins was like that of a love struck 16 year old. He is obviously still in love with Judy. She played right along with it. Judy Collins was fantastic, and I'm not as a big fan as my wife is. At 78 her voice is as good and strong as it ever was. She played some of her popular standards and nailed them. I knew they had to finish with Suite: Judy Blue Eyes but they started the song toward the end with "Chestnut brown canary...." A little disappointing but I'm not sure his voice could sing the whole song now. They did not allow video or sound recording of the show.

  • Stephen and Judy were amazing.

Two icons together created a special night of music.

  • Live music is best!

by payforlive on 8/12/17Atlanta Symphony Hall - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

Stills and Collins in Atlanta was so special! While Stills' voice was fragile, his guitar playing and musicianship shone through! Judy Collins' voice still sounded pretty good and was easy listening. It was obvious that Stills and Collins revere one another and the way they treated each other is what brought tears to my eyes. Thank you for a wonderful evening of live music.

  • Not what we thought it was going to be

by BruceAndSue on 8/12/17Atlanta Symphony Hall - AtlantaRating: 2 out of 5

It was clearly a Stephen Stills concert. Judy Collins was just along for the ride. She played only 2 of her many favorite songs. The rest was Steven Stills solos and duets. Also the sound quality in the balcony was not as good as we were expecting for the Atlanta Symphony Hall.

  • Friggin Buy The Tix!!!!

by Allistandefer on 8/12/17Atlanta Symphony Hall - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

oh heck YES, ladies and gentlemen! Judy Collins and Stephen Stills were AMAZING!!! Judy was the better of the two (obviously), but their setlist and performances were to die for!!!

  • May They Stay Forever Young

by Marbury on 8/12/17Atlanta Symphony Hall - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

I saw Judy Collins in concert 50 years ago and have seen her probably a half-dozen times since. Her voice was stunning back then in its beauty and range, and if, at the age of 78, she has lost anything over the years, it is not at all apparent. I recall reading an interview recently with Joan Baez, whom I've seen from time to time in concert over the same large time span. Baez still sounds great, but when asked if her voice has changed, she laughed and said her range was significantly less but that she knew her limits and stayed within them. In this concert, Judy Collins sang some songs requiring great range, like Leonard Cohen's "Suzanne," that I hadn't heard her sing in years, and it was as heart-stopping as ever, with every note nailed. This may have been the best concert I've ever seen her give, because, thanks to her pairing with Stephen Stills, the song selection was the best ever. Stephen Stills's voice is not quite what it used to be, though still good, but his guitar-playing is as extraordinary as ever, and he has few peers on guitar today. Altogether, seeing the two onetime lovers now so obviously enjoying one another's extraordinary musical skills and friendship was priceless.

  • Disappointing

by Mlebes on 8/12/17Atlanta Symphony Hall - AtlantaRating: 3 out of 5

It was billed as Stephen Stills & Judy Collins, but turned out to be Judy Collins & Stephen Stills. Even the sound mix had her vocals louder than Stills. Could have done with less Collins (especially her political comments) and more Stephen Stills.

  • Stephen Stills and Judy Collins

    by jpal2 on 8/12/17Atlanta Symphony Hall - AtlantaRating: 4 out of 5

I initially went to hear Stephen Stills, but I left a Judy Collins fan. I was very disappointed that Stephen only sang a couple of songs alone, and they were not any of his familiar ones. Judy, on the other hand, sang either with Stephen or alone, and she sang most of her famous ones. Her voice was pure and clear. I loved that they ended the concert singing Suite Judy Blue Eyes. I was disappointed that we were not allowed to take any photos. If they didn't want that during the performance, they could have at least designated one song or a moment where we were allowed to take photos.

interesting "history" banter of their relationship and days of old he still plays a great guitar, singing has fallen off...Judy on the other hand is the star of the show with her song selection.....beautiful voice, especially for her "age"....
