About

Whether he's singing an ode to "queer tattoos," telling his potential paramour all the things he won't be doing for her (he ain't fightin' no Lion), or lamenting his new vegan lifestyle ("Tofurkey? Tof**k yourself- I want some meat"), Stephen Lynch will always consider himself "a musician trapped in the body of a comedian." His unique blend of musical based comedy has earned him fiercely loyal fans around the world who live to experience his sold-out live shows, six best-selling CDs, his RIAA-certified Gold DVD and his top-rated Comedy Central Specials.

Stephen moved to New York in 1996, with the goal of becoming a performer. While temping during the day, he wrote songs and performed at clubs and underground music venues around Manhattan at night. Stephen quickly developed a devoted fan base and caught the attention of Comedy Central, who invited him to record his 1st cable special in 2000. That special became one of their highest rated shows in the series, almost unheard of for an unknown. His 2 nd Comedy Central special debuted in January 2008, with similarly high ratings.

In 2006, Stephen Lynch stepped onto the Broadway stage for the first time in the title role of The Wedding Singer. His performance earned him nominations for some of the highest honors in American Theatre including the Drama League Award for Distinguished Performance, the Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Actor in a Musical, as well as the highly coveted Tony Award for Best Performance by a Leading Actor in a Musical.

Stephen's albums "A Little Bit Special," "Superhero," "The Craig Machine," and "3 Balloons" have sold hundreds of thousands of copies around the world. His first DVD, "Live at the El Rey," was certified Gold by RIAA. Stephen has toured with some of the biggest names in comedy, including Lewis Black and the late Mitch Hedberg. He's also headlined his own sold out shows throughout the United States, Australia and Europe, where its been said he's "the Beyonce of Scandinavia."

When not touring the globe for ardent and enthusiastic fans, Stephen divides his time between New York and Michigan with his wife.

by Lovelaughing on 11/7/09Lyric Opera House - Baltimore

Stephen Lynch is one of the most talented, hilarious, irreverent and all around entertaining comedians/musicians on the circuit today! His show was nonstop laughs from the moment he hit the stage until he left after the encore. Incredible entertainment, I loved every minute of it!!

    Soooooo funny!

by abrooke78 on 11/7/09Lyric Opera House - Baltimore

The show was great. I was laughing my ass off the whole time. My only complaint was that he didn't play a few songs from the tour album including the title track.

It was obviously scripted, even the parts that he wanted us to believe were spur of the moment. There wasn't a lot of singing from the singing comedian. His last tour was a lot better.

Steven Lynch live it spectacular! Only a few "oldies" so it was a nice balance. The new material is great and he's an unbelievable musician. A very unique combination.

He is very funny! However, I think this show was ruined by hecklers.

Stephen Lynch was really good . . .

by brainheit on 10/6/09The Pageant - St Louis

His routine was overall very funny. Unfortunately the show was dominated by hecklers which for some reason the security team was unable to locate and remove. We enjoyed the show but would have had a much better time without the disturbances, or if Stephen had handled them a little better.

    Stephen Lynch rocks the casbah!

by triniti on 10/5/09The Pageant - St Louis

The show was as good as the last time we saw him at The Pageant. A few technical difficulties but nothing that distracted really. And there were some unfortunate drunk hecklers, but that wasn't the fault of the show. Stephen Lynch is always talented, hilarious, and extremely entertaining. We had a great time!

    Lynch rocks.

by kingcogitation on 10/4/09The Pageant - St Louis

He is a subversive genius. You feel ashamed to like it so much. But you just can't help it. If he wasn't so twisted you would love his musical talent, voice and instrumental both. Because he is so twisted, you like him all the more........ but you kind of hate yourself.

    Funny As Always!

by 44Hkey on 10/4/09The Pageant - St Louis

Stephen's 3 Balloons tour was great. Most of his show was new material. He did do a couple classics. Only wished he would have thrown a couple more in the set. With that being said, his new material was very funny. Stephen is a great musician. Along with his guitar, he added some piano play. Favorite part of the night was his rendition of Purple Rain. Will definetely come back to see him again.

    Hallelujah

by Beelze on 10/4/09The Pageant - St Louis

This show was one of the best shows I have seen in al long time! It mixed the funniness of Stephen Lynch with a very Broadway like feel. He had a nice mix of old and new material, and he threw in some of his friend's stuff. Overall it was a great night and I would highly recommend it.
