About

Whether he's singing an ode to "queer tattoos," telling his potential paramour all the things he won't be doing for her (he ain't fightin' no Lion), or lamenting his new vegan lifestyle ("Tofurkey? Tof**k yourself- I want some meat"), Stephen Lynch will always consider himself "a musician trapped in the body of a comedian." His unique blend of musical based comedy has earned him fiercely loyal fans around the world who live to experience his sold-out live shows, six best-selling CDs, his RIAA-certified Gold DVD and his top-rated Comedy Central Specials.

Stephen moved to New York in 1996, with the goal of becoming a performer. While temping during the day, he wrote songs and performed at clubs and underground music venues around Manhattan at night. Stephen quickly developed a devoted fan base and caught the attention of Comedy Central, who invited him to record his 1st cable special in 2000. That special became one of their highest rated shows in the series, almost unheard of for an unknown. His 2 nd Comedy Central special debuted in January 2008, with similarly high ratings.

In 2006, Stephen Lynch stepped onto the Broadway stage for the first time in the title role of The Wedding Singer. His performance earned him nominations for some of the highest honors in American Theatre including the Drama League Award for Distinguished Performance, the Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Actor in a Musical, as well as the highly coveted Tony Award for Best Performance by a Leading Actor in a Musical.

Stephen's albums "A Little Bit Special," "Superhero," "The Craig Machine," and "3 Balloons" have sold hundreds of thousands of copies around the world. His first DVD, "Live at the El Rey," was certified Gold by RIAA. Stephen has toured with some of the biggest names in comedy, including Lewis Black and the late Mitch Hedberg. He's also headlined his own sold out shows throughout the United States, Australia and Europe, where its been said he's "the Beyonce of Scandinavia."

When not touring the globe for ardent and enthusiastic fans, Stephen divides his time between New York and Michigan with his wife.

Awesome show! A must see for anyone who enjoys comedy, and can stomach the lack of political correctness.

Great Laughs, But, Not for the Uptight Crowd

by TopshelfDMB on 11/9/09Omaha Music Hall - Omaha

After having seen Stephen Lynch several times on Comedy Central, it was a pleasure to see the new live show. The show was over-the-top entertaining, and was very up-to-date, with many current events incorporated into the set. I took my wife and a friend, and although we all live the white collar office life during the day, it was a great time for all of us, with none of the material being too racy or scandalous. I was surprised the show was put on by a University sponsored group due to the content, but, it was nice to see the administration doing something for the students that they would truly enjoy. My only thoughts other than complete satisfaction are that if you are a social conservative or an uptight religious zealot, then this is not the show for you. Leave your philisophical baggage at the door and come enjoy the laughs - it's comedy after all!

    Stephen Lynch as expected

by smgns on 11/9/09Omaha Music Hall - Omaha

Lynch put on a very funny show that was well attended mainly by college students. He is quite an accomplished musician with a multiple octave range and excellent on keyboard as well as his guitar. He ad libs throughout the show putting local color in with his regular act . $18 for floor seats isn't bad but $6.00 for a 12 oz bud light is out of line, but that is on the Omaha Music Hall. Also the show started about 20 minutes late.

Stephen Lynch was worth every penny!

by ladyageorge on 11/9/09Omaha Music Hall - Omaha

We went to the Stephen Lynch show last night at the Omaha Music Hall and laughed so hard it hurt. It was terrific. We don't go to a lot of shows and are so glad that we made it to this one. Heard him interviewed on Todd and Tyler (radio show) and then found the tickets, it was worth every penny. This is one show you have GOT TO SEE!

    Not quite what I expected

by Anonymous on 11/9/09Lyric Opera House - Baltimore

I had seen Stephen's Comedy Central specials and was blown away by his fresh approach to comedy and appeal to the audience. So I was quite excited to make the trip from DC to see him live. I was less than impressed by his new show. It seem like he has thrown any hint of trying out the window and relied to much on profane interludes and tired comedy bits to reach out to the audience. If there had been a money-back option, I would have taken it immediately. It is disappointing to see someone revert to the tired routine of so many comics out there. though I will give him credit for his interactive musical approach to comedy. Just seemed like the older stuff was his better stuff.

    Never stopped laughing

by weavemo on 11/9/09Lyric Opera House - Baltimore

Did most of his new CD, 3 Balloons and some selected older songs. Would have preferred some more of the older material, but was a great show nonetheless. He appeared very relaxed and had a lot of interaction with the crowd. His two friends added a lot of interaction and were foils for a number of Steven's irreverent comments and remarks. All was hilarious. You could tell they were all having fun together and a lot of it appeared to be spontaneous. Would have liked to seen Steven on the video screen behind him, which was only used for infrequent video clips. Would have aided the whole production. All in all, a great show. Would recommend it to anyone.

    Stephen Lynch Rocks!!!!!

by MachineGunKelly on 11/9/09Lyric Opera House - Baltimore

The show Rocked. Stephen Lynch is awesome and it was my first live show ever. It started off a little slow but eventually it was what I expected. The lyric opera house is a really nice venue but the seats were a little small and close together. I was glad that I am not heavy...

    Laughed until I was cryin'

by FubarGuy on 11/8/09Lyric Opera House - Baltimore

First time we've seen Lynch, and I really had only heard a handful of his tunes. Bought tix on a whim one crappy day at work - turned out to be a great idea! He started about 30 minutes late, but since there wasn't an opener so we ended up getting a full 2 hours. Great set, would have liked a few more songs & less filler like the video shorts. The bonus of David Josefsberg & Rod Cone sitting on a few numbers was cool too. Wish I knew more of the songs better since a fair number of people were singin' right along. Great show, next time he comes to town we'll be there!

Stephen Lynch put on a great show as expected!!!

by BaileyCosmoeKramer on 11/8/09Lyric Opera House - Baltimore

Friday night was a blast!! I can only complain about the seats at the Lyric Opera House. You want to talk about uncomfortable??? This was the first time my friend and fiance ever went to see Stephen Lynch, and both laughed the entire show. My only suggestion would be to play some of the "hit" older songs but don't get me wrong I love the new CD!!!!

    Great show!

by Krink on 11/7/09Lyric Opera House - Baltimore

My first time listening to Stephen Lynch I liked him but did not love him- but after seeing this show I LOVE him. He is hilarious and will keep you laughing the whole way through the show. He played some new material which was great and ended the show with a crazy rendition of "Purple Rain". He was accompanied by two other guys - one was named Rob and the other I think was Dave? The tickets said 8pm but the show didn't start till 8:30. Other reviewers posted problems with drunk hecklers- but there were none. Overall I would definitely recommend the show to anyone and I would see it again!

Never laughed so hard in my life

by cutslasher on 11/7/09Lyric Opera House - Baltimore

Always outrageous, Stephen Lynch really outdid himself this time! I've been to one of his shows on a tour 2 years ago, and while I loved that show, this one was FAR better. If you like Stephen Lynch, go to one of his shows. He's even funnier live.

Stephen was amazing live. I've seen him on TV but this doesn't compare! The show was hilarious and my only complaint was that it ended too soon.
