With 10 Tony® nominations including Best Musical, SOMETHING ROTTEN! is a “big, fat hit!” (New York Post). Set in the ‘90s – the 1590s – this hilarious smash tells the story of Nick and Nigel Bottom (Tony® nominee Rob McClure and Broadway’s Josh Grisetti), two brothers who are desperate to write their own hit play while the “rock star” Shakespeare (Tony® nominee Adam Pascal) keeps getting all the hits. When a local soothsayer foretells that the future of theatre involves singing, dancing and acting at the same time, Nick and Nigel set out to write the world’s very first MUSICAL! With its heart on its ruffled sleeve and sequins in its soul, SOMETHING ROTTEN! is “The Producers + Spamalot + The Book of Mormon. Squared!” (New York Magazine).
One of my all-time favorite plays. Not the first time I have seen it. LIU put on an excellent rendition.
I left the performance thinking - I need to find a way to see this musical again soon! Even bought the soundtrack the next day!
I didn't know what to expect from this musical, it was something that my daughter picked out after listening to the soundtrack that was suggested by Spotify. She played it for me and I thought that it sounded like it would be a pretty cute show, and it certainly was! We laughed quite a lot! The performers were great and it is a show that I would definitely recommend to others, especially fans of musical theatre and Shakespeare.
This was great! The actors were full of energy, and the music was awesome. I've never laughed so much during a show. The auditorium was first class, with comfortable seats and a good amount of leg room.
We thoroughly enjoyed this show! We laughed so much...great acting, playwright, songs! We've already told our friends all over the country to see when it comes around.
We have seen Something Rotten before. This one was still a lot of fun. Great songs and good cast! Nigel and Portia did an excellent job!
The Stifel theatre is beautiful, first of all. The experience at the theatre was very nice. Something Rotten was amazing. The show was extremely funny and so entertaining. It’s one of my favorite musicals I wish I could go see it again it was so good.
I think it's pretty clear it's a non-union show. Some underwhelming production values. Like a really good college production. The very young cast did their best.
Something Rotten! was wildly funny, entertaining, witty and clever. Have been a fan of the music for a long time and was so glad I finally had the opportunity to see it live; it was a total delight!
I love this show. It's hilarious, fantastically choreographed, well cast(though you can never beat the original cast:) ). It's just an all around fun show that I would watch time and time again.
We loved the show! Wish they did more, I would bring more people to see it!
Hilarious!! A masterpiece!! If you are a fan of musical theater you don’t want to miss this one. Two thumbs way up!!
We needed to laugh. We laughed. Hard. And lots. And went home singing new favorite songs. Loved this imaginative behind-the-scenes look at a struggling acting troupe trying to survive in the shadow of The Bard. Loved the integration of modern music and themes. (Glad we didn't bring children or my very conservative parents - it was slightly bawdy, but we expected that; after all, it's about Shakespeare!) Incredibly well performed and worth every penny!
It was not like anything I expected. It was so good and very funny. Pay attention because there is a lot of hidden under tones.
Something Rotten was one of the best Broadway shows I have seen! Keen writing, fantastic costumes and great musical numbers. I will see this show again!
Great venue, (The Tennessee Theater), great cast! What a fun way to spend an afternoon
This performance was the funniest performance I have ever seen. My niece and my faces were sore from laughing, as well as other people's comments when leaving the theater. It was very clever writing and the songs were hilarious. We have never enjoyed anything so much as this production. Thank you for bringing this play to the Tennessee Theater!
Thoroughly enjoyed this laugh a minute show. Singing and dancing was great. Highly recommend this show.
Funniest show I've ever seen! Great music! Very clever. So many nods to other musicals.
I was concerned about the “limited view” seating I had, but I could see everything! The show was hilarious and it had more tap than I thought. I loved the clean and consistent tapping! The set, costumes, and lights were spectacular!! It was a perfect way to end a theatre conference I attended that week.
