Fun for the whole family! We enjoy the Christmas music
Had a great time with the kids! We had a lot of fun. I wish we had this option more often during the year, or for a few months at least. I really like that they had a limited amount of people and the times were set so the ice wasn’t too crowded.
The rental skates that they offer are dull. And not many of the sizes lace up. The hard plastic boot makes them uncomfortable, with too much wiggle room. But they are terribly dull. We went for the 8PM skate, and the ice rink really needed to have the Zamboni used between skates.
Ice skating was so much fun. It was very organized and kid friendly. I would recommend
We took our teenage kids ice skating. There were several staff members who seemed very agitated, fussed at all of the kids constantly and even snapped at the grownups for standing in the wrong place. The kids had fun skating but the staff could have had better attitudes. Also it would be nice if they would let us in the doors closer to St Louis street since we all have to park in the garages over there. Also better for safety purposes instead of getting mugged walking a mile around the outside of the center to get to the other entrance.
Too crowded, NO EMERGENCY STAFF, one of the kid hit hurt( her fingers run over by another skater, bleeding ) and staff are no where to be found.
I feel like it could be better organized on the process of getting in, grabbing your skates and preparing. If you haven't been before you don't know the process. Also a limited amount of seats to change in and people just sitting on other people's shoes. Also I've been many times and this once the ice was in rough condition to say it had just been prepared.
Super crowded, why wouldn’t they open more space for people to stand at the wall and watch or more chairs??
It was awesome! Our first time & we really enjoyed it.
Great for basic ice skating. I wish it had been decorated for the holiday season though. Hand sanitizer stations need refilling.
This was our first time ice skating. We did read a little of “what not to do” before attempting to skate. We wore thick socks and I brought my shoe inserts for arch support. I also had on SUPPORT stockings that help with leg circulation as I have POTS. First time around was rough. A lady came by letting us know what we were doing wrong. She said to March till you get your balance. She mentioned not to skate like you would with roller skates. Bend knees and glide on ice while you use arms to help balance. The second time around was smoother and we felt more confident. I feel like we needed more time. 75 mins wasn’t enough time for beginners. Should be more like 2 hours for the 20.00 we paid. Overall, we had a lovely time.
We all had to change sizes twice. We were told by a hockey player they should have been giving us 2 sizes down instead of just 1. The skates were also in terrible shape. One pair was ducted taped. The laced pairs were impossibly to get right. I wish they'd invest in some newer, getter skates. It was frustrating losing token switching out sizes for 3 kids
Fun, entertaining, family oriented. Definitely thinking about doing it again!
I’m so glad the River Center had ice skating in the summer this year. We can’t always go during the holiday season so this worked well for us. My kids had a great time and it was so nice to have something to do inside away from the heat. It was not too crowded and everyone had room to skate. The only negative was the snack and drink prices; but about the same as when you buy them at the movie theater. I hope the River Center continues to offer this in the summers ahead!
The employees working the event were very nice and very helpful. I thought that $20 for. 75-minute session was a reasonable price for adults, but not for my 5 year old daughter who had only ice skated one other time in her life. Many ice rinks have training aids for small children to hold onto and push around the ice to get the feel for it. When I asked an employee if there were any such devices that my daughter could use, he told me they did not, as the River Center didn’t allow them to be used since they can “damage the ice.” I found this to be a little absurd, since these training devices are very common at many ice rinks. Had it not been for a very friendly patron who used to be an ice skating instructor who saw my daughter struggling and worked with her for a few minutes to get her more comfortable on the ice, our trip would have been a total bust and a total waste of money. If Baton Rouge wants to become a hockey town again, it would help if the public ice skating sessions at the River Center were family-friendly for ALL members of the family.
Summer skating at the River Center was a fantastic time. We thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to cool off in a unique way.
It was excellent! My family had a blast! I really hope y’all got enough business to do it again
Easy parking, easy to pick up skates and hit the rink. Wish this was something we could do more often. My granddaughter was a natural and would like to take lessons. Would be an asset to Baton Rouge Community and visitors.
I always love going to ice skating at the River Center. But I would have like to see more people/ more advertising for it. Not many of my friends knew about it
