About

Shen Yun Performing Arts is a triumph of collaboration, bringing together over a hundred of the world's foremost classically trained Chinese dancers, choreographers, musicians, and vocalists. It also boasts the world's only full orchestra that embraces both Western and Chinese instruments as its permanent members.

Based in New York, Shen Yun Performing Arts is distinguished by its conscious effort to remain independent of China's communist regime, which has abused and impoverished the arts for decades. It is proud to thus include members who practice Falun Gong. The company aspires to create original performances that not only entertain, but also more deeply educate, enrich, and inspire. The company's rich repertory is drawn from the pages of history, universal themes, and the world around us. All choreography and music performed are original.

  • Very disruptive

by Nel on 1/23/24Martin Marietta Center for the Performing Arts (fka Duke Energy) - RaleighRating: 3 out of 5

While the event was pretty good, the venue allowed people to enter after the show had started. At almost every break while the commentary was going on several groups would enter and stand in the way of our view. This probably happened 10 times during each portion of the show. It was a distraction from the speakers as well as the first several minutes of each dance.

  • Shen Yun 2024 San Diego

by RobJo on 1/23/24San Diego Civic Theatre - San DiegoRating: 3 out of 5

Not the best show; this was my 3rd time seeing the show and my least favorite- I felt it was disconnected and didn't display much of the beautiful and exquiste dancing as I had seen in the other performances. I was sad, and this was magnified since I invited friends who hadn't seen the performance and it was quite disappointing-especially for the price of the ticket. The 25th Anniversary show was FANTASTIC and Really Enjoyable, where this was not! I will say say, the outfits were delightful and the best part of this most current show.

by B man on 1/23/24Music Hall At Fair Park - DallasRating: 5 out of 5

Really enjoyed the show - the dancing was amazing but the message of the show was well received. I admire individuals in the pursuit of excellence and holding to your values!

  • Been wanting to go for over a decade

by Cheryll on 1/23/24San Diego Civic Theatre - San DiegoRating: 5 out of 5

Being of dance, gymnastics and competitive cheerleading background, I found this performance to be of exquisite athleticism and beauty. The costumes were gorgeous, transitions were flawless and it was more than I imagined it to be! Exciting that they change it up every year!

  • Beautiful w/Purpose

by Kmay on 1/23/24San Diego Civic Theatre - San DiegoRating: 5 out of 5

I have seen the show twice now. Once 10 years ago and this past weekend. Beautiful both times with a purpose of educating others about the 5000 years of the Art of Chinese Dance. It is hard to believe that something so beautiful with such a peaceful purpose was abandoned. Thanks for bringing the knowledge and art back for all to experience!

  • Shen Yun ——-

by Sparkle222 on 1/23/24Music Hall At Fair Park - DallasRating: 2 out of 5

I don’t as mildly disappointed with the show. It is hyped up more than it should be. I thought it would be better than what was reviewed previously. Guests were also late which caused distractions. It was as though we were at a movie theater. Eating was permitted in the auditorium. Not a class act as it was purported to be. Sadly.

  • Loved the dancing

by Sandie on 1/23/24Martin Marietta Center for the Performing Arts (fka Duke Energy) - RaleighRating: 4 out of 5

The backdrop was interesting, it helped tell the story. I loved the fact that the show was trying to educate the audience about the ccp.

  • Too much video

by Kaku on 1/23/24San Diego Civic Theatre - San DiegoRating: 3 out of 5

It’s a good show, but I don’t like the use of the video too much

  • Amazing attention to detail. Fantastic performance.

by Sean on 1/23/24Martin Marietta Center for the Performing Arts (fka Duke Energy) - RaleighRating: 5 out of 5

As a former performer, I am the type of person who tries to find subtle flaws when I am spectating, from dancers in the back who think they aren’t being watched, to synchronicity. I never saw a moment where I felt as though something was off. The projector and the way it was used was a highlight for me, I have never seen anything like it before. I was completely satisfied with my experience.

  • Unforgettable experience.

by Don S on 1/23/24San Diego Civic Theatre - San DiegoRating: 5 out of 5

Near perfection in every way, with world class dancers, superb staging and inspiring music and stories that reaches deeply into one’s soul.

  • Colorful and Talented

by Skip on 1/23/24San Diego Civic Theatre - San DiegoRating: 4 out of 5

This is something that needs to be seen. Dance groups in perfect sync with each other aided by subtle hand and prop use that leaves you wondering how that could happen with everyone at the same moment. A combination of some gymnastics shows the talent and commitment to work by these performers. A very nice performance.

  • Absolutely awesome!!!

  • Good but

by Jerry on 1/23/24Martin Marietta Center for the Performing Arts (fka Duke Energy) - RaleighRating: 4 out of 5

The dancing, singing, music were outstanding. There was too much political references and apologizing in various numbers which left me feeling that they were not just trying to preserve the ancient cultured.

  • Best ever

First time but it won’t be the last time. We love the music 🎶 and the story line.

Excellent performance of artwork, music, songs and dances displaying the cultural of China. Loved the colorful outfits and the choreography’s was at its finest showmanship. Each time I have seen the show it leaves me in awe ( in a good mood).

  • Must See

by L. on 1/23/24Music Hall At Fair Park - DallasRating: 3 out of 5

Second time seeing and each season is a different performance. While it doesn’t disappoint, I must admit, my “wow” was more for the first time I experienced it. Unless taking someone who has never seen before, don’t think I’ll need to see again. But beautiful nonetheless.

  • Show was awesome

by James on 1/23/24Martin Marietta Center for the Performing Arts (fka Duke Energy) - RaleighRating: 4 out of 5

From the music to the dancers and video graphics on the screen. It was amazingly done. Only bad part is the markup on tickets from Ticket master.
