About

Shen Yun Performing Arts is a triumph of collaboration, bringing together over a hundred of the world's foremost classically trained Chinese dancers, choreographers, musicians, and vocalists. It also boasts the world's only full orchestra that embraces both Western and Chinese instruments as its permanent members.

Based in New York, Shen Yun Performing Arts is distinguished by its conscious effort to remain independent of China's communist regime, which has abused and impoverished the arts for decades. It is proud to thus include members who practice Falun Gong. The company aspires to create original performances that not only entertain, but also more deeply educate, enrich, and inspire. The company's rich repertory is drawn from the pages of history, universal themes, and the world around us. All choreography and music performed are original.

  • 30 minutes stretched to hours

by Grandma on 1/25/24Music Hall At Fair Park - DallasRating: 1 out of 5

The sleeve dance was beautiful and hypnotic. The Erhu solo was wonderful. The music was great but we couldn’t see the orchestra in the pit. The dances were repetitive and all the good stuff is shown in the commercials. It’s not at all worth the ticket price. About 30 minutes of decent entertainment.

  • The best of the Best, a must see!

by Bobby on 1/24/24Music Hall At Fair Park - DallasRating: 5 out of 5

You have to see the show yourself to benefit from it. It is something you never imagined and worth all the money you got! One should, at least, to see the show once in one's life time!

  • A must see event

The show blew me away with the amazing talent and the great stories that were told through dance. I highly recommend it.

  • Nothing less than awesome

by CharlieC on 1/24/24Martin Marietta Center for the Performing Arts (fka Duke Energy) - RaleighRating: 5 out of 5

This was the first time attending a Shun Yun. I've been reading about it for several years and decided now was the time to see it. I was not disappointed. The dancing and the music were fantastic and I plan on attending future performances in the following years.

  • Breathtaking Beautifully presented

by Ray on 1/24/24Music Hall At Fair Park - DallasRating: 5 out of 5

Wonderful performance with amazingly choreography. Loved the way the performers were integrated into the background scenery. Colors were brilliant and vibrant. A must see you won’t be disappointed!

  • Hmm…we’re they trying to convert me to Falun Dafa?

by TM on 1/24/24San Diego Civic Theatre - San DiegoRating: 2 out of 5

The dancers and musicians were well rehearsed and fun to watch but at some point it became repetitive and I started think that this whole performance was a way for them to proselytize their Falun Dafa religion.

  • Magic experience

by George on 1/24/24Martin Marietta Center for the Performing Arts (fka Duke Energy) - RaleighRating: 5 out of 5

The show was truly a wonderful experience. I was most impressed with how perfectly synchronized the dancers were. I also loved the scenery in the background, which looked almost 3D. The music from the orchestra was truly magical. I plan to see it again next year.

  • Beautiful performances - unexpectedly faith based

by Whit on 1/24/24Music Hall At Fair Park - DallasRating: 5 out of 5

The performances were beautiful. The costumes were pretty. The way they used the screen was SO COOL!!! I would recommend anyone to see this. I was not expecting this performance to be faith based/faith driven but it wasn't overwhelming on that matter, just unexpected. If you're interested in this, just buy the tickets & check it out. It's cool.

  • Impressive

by BH on 1/24/24San Diego Civic Theatre - San DiegoRating: 4 out of 5

Very impressed that this dance company would share with the world what people in China must endure. Their positive spirit and motivation through Kindness and Truth are refreshing. Truth: The orchestra was impressive. The dancing was impeccable. The acrobatics were fun to watch. I appreciate the show for its representation of historic Chinese culture, and its courage to talk about it. However, the show seems a bit dated. The computer graphics that make up the backdrop are antiquated. Many of the dances seemed a bit repetitive. It might be time to refresh the entire package in order to continue sending a positive message. Kindness: I appreciate each and every person that performs in this show. They are extremely talented and professional. Every dancer was on time and danced with true elegance. I appreciate the hours of pain and years of practice it takes to perform so beautifully, and flawlessly. I am so glad that I bought tickets for this unique event.

by robKin2022 on 1/24/24Martin Marietta Center for the Performing Arts (fka Duke Energy) - RaleighRating: 4 out of 5

The performance was illuminating, and the athleticism was hypnotic. We were stuck in our seats, waiting for the next act. The show was worth the cost.

  • A fabulous performance that is a must see!

by Laura on 1/24/24Music Hall At Fair Park - DallasRating: 5 out of 5

This was an amazing show that takes you all over China from north to south and in-between. The showpieces ranged from the mythological to past to present and were a wonderful mix of bursting color and amazing dancing to a contrast of light and dark and scenes that will bring you to tears. As my niece said, “This was better than the Nutcracker!”

  • Exhilarating

  • So Beautiful!!

by Lover of Art on 1/24/24Martin Marietta Center for the Performing Arts (fka Duke Energy) - RaleighRating: 5 out of 5

It was my first attending a performance of this caliber and my goodness was it beautiful! The regalia they wore were colorful and gorgeous. There was no talking from the performers but their elegant movements told the stories of love, heartbreak, triumph, and perseverance. I loved the performance and could watch a million times and never get tired of it.

  • Costumes and Dance Superb, BUT..

by Costumes and Dance Superb, BUT.. on 1/24/24Music Hall At Fair Park - DallasRating: 3 out of 5

The location was convenient, but the seating was old and uncomfortable. Regarding the performance, the dancing and musical instruments were great. My only real issue and why there was not a five star review was due to the religious undertone it had. I could have enjoyed the performance even more, if they did not push this religion on the audience, as well as the items sold outside the performance hall.
