About

Shen Yun Performing Arts is a triumph of collaboration, bringing together over a hundred of the world's foremost classically trained Chinese dancers, choreographers, musicians, and vocalists. It also boasts the world's only full orchestra that embraces both Western and Chinese instruments as its permanent members.

Based in New York, Shen Yun Performing Arts is distinguished by its conscious effort to remain independent of China's communist regime, which has abused and impoverished the arts for decades. It is proud to thus include members who practice Falun Gong. The company aspires to create original performances that not only entertain, but also more deeply educate, enrich, and inspire. The company's rich repertory is drawn from the pages of history, universal themes, and the world around us. All choreography and music performed are original.

  • Good

by Marcy on 2/7/24William Saroyan Theatre Fresno Convention & Entertainment Center - FresnoRating: 4 out of 5

My favorite parts were the dancing with scarfs or vails or props the way they moved and formed designs, the dancing looks like they were walking on air. When they would jump into the screen and then come to life so cool! More acrobats. Don’t get me wrong I did enjoy the show, but when people asked me how was it I said “ it was good, I enjoyed it”, I want to be able to say, it was GREAT, WOW! You need to definitely see it.

  • Didn't know what to expect.

by Steve E on 2/7/24Clowes Memorial Hall - IndianapolisRating: 3 out of 5

I always seen this show advertised on TV every year when it would come through Indy. I was not sure if I would like it. I finally decided that this year I would take my parents to see it. It was ok, but not that great. I probably will not be going anymore in the future.

  • Disappointed

by GiGi on 2/7/24Rating: 2 out of 5

My seat was also terrible. A tall man sitting in front of me and 2 very obese women on my left side who came in late; went out at the break and stepped on my toes!

  • Good Performane, Bad Seats

  • Breathtakingly stunning!

by Deb on 2/6/24Clowes Memorial Hall - IndianapolisRating: 5 out of 5

The show truly was breathtakingly stunning. Mesmerizing also because of the music, the dance, the professionalism and talent, of not only the performers, but the singers and the musicians as well..it was amazing! Such a shame that all of this heritage, tradition and beauty was robbed from the Chinese people after the takeover by Communism. I would definitely recommend this show to anyone!!!

  • I am Forever Changed

by Bimini on 2/6/24William Saroyan Theatre Fresno Convention & Entertainment Center - FresnoRating: 5 out of 5

I am so moved that a bucket list dream appeared in reality. Us three sisters were together to celebrate our mother as that day was her 89th birthday. She is with us and we honored her motherhood as we watched the most phenomenal dance story of FREEDOM. Yes, I am uplifted and forever changed. Thank you.

  • Excellent show at Butler

by JoeW on 2/6/24Clowes Memorial Hall - IndianapolisRating: 5 out of 5

I’ve been fascinated with pre communist China, and I was pleased to see how artfully the show represented what life prior to communist rule. I can only imagine how much better the world would be if the communist regime would collapse and if even a portion of history could return. China would be a great place.

  • Performance

by TKon on 2/6/24Clowes Memorial Hall - IndianapolisRating: 4 out of 5

Hello, I like the performance but don't like the politics involved in the dance. Just for that reason alone I don't want to go there any more.

  • Exceptional show

  • Amazing colors and music

by Mom of 7 on 2/3/24Jacksonville Center for the Performing Arts - Moran Theater - JacksonvilleRating: 5 out of 5

The dancing and choreography was synchronized so well. The orchestra was amazing. They had a special theater with animation that looked so real as the people popped in and out of the screen. The best was the soloist playing a 2 stringed instrument. Definitely will go again.

  • Good

by Piet on 2/3/24Jacksonville Center for the Performing Arts - Moran Theater - JacksonvilleRating: 4 out of 5

I was fortunate to experience a similar type of production many years ago which had superior lead dancers. Considering that there are few top soloist in the world, this was a very nice production

  • Shen Yun

by Ray on 2/3/24Jacksonville Center for the Performing Arts - Moran Theater - JacksonvilleRating: 5 out of 5

Absolute perfection. Every move on que. Music was sharp and solos extraordinary. Master of ceremony were esquisite. Sound effects and cinematography was spot on.

  • Traditional Chinese Dance? Hardly.

by Jeff on 2/2/24Jacksonville Center for the Performing Arts - Moran Theater - JacksonvilleRating: 2 out of 5

Traditional Chinese dance? I don’t think so, seemed more like ballet. Talented dancers, but the story and dance felt very contrived. The quasi-religious aspect was unexpected and, frankly, unwelcome. Lackluster story and lacking any uniqueness made it rather boring.

  • Tah-dah!

by Bear on 2/2/24Jacksonville Center for the Performing Arts - Moran Theater - JacksonvilleRating: 3 out of 5

I thought the dancers were absolutely incredible! All of them were talented and expressed their love of what they do, it came through their art! I would like to have seen more dancers on stage at one time. The more dancers their are, the more beautiful it looked. I also LOVED the two stringed instrument! However, I did NOT enjoy the soprano dinner. She was awful, and she actually hurt my ears.

  • Great show and very helpful staff

by Curt on 2/1/24SAFE Credit Union Performing Arts Center - SacramentoRating: 5 out of 5

The show was the best show my wife and I have been to, the house staff made it very easy to find our seats. On a 1 to 10 I’ll give this experience a 10.

  • Devine

by Tryce on 2/1/24Cannon Center for the Performing Arts - MemphisRating: 4 out of 5

Performance's superb, captivating, and highly entertaining something that I never thought I would ever see. But honestly I would love to see the performance again in a city with more of the performer's like advertised on television.
