About

Shen Yun Performing Arts is a triumph of collaboration, bringing together over a hundred of the world's foremost classically trained Chinese dancers, choreographers, musicians, and vocalists. It also boasts the world's only full orchestra that embraces both Western and Chinese instruments as its permanent members.

Based in New York, Shen Yun Performing Arts is distinguished by its conscious effort to remain independent of China's communist regime, which has abused and impoverished the arts for decades. It is proud to thus include members who practice Falun Gong. The company aspires to create original performances that not only entertain, but also more deeply educate, enrich, and inspire. The company's rich repertory is drawn from the pages of history, universal themes, and the world around us. All choreography and music performed are original.

Shen Yun was an amazing experience!!! The performance surpassed my expectations, with the costumes, athleticism, and music. Highly recommend attending and I hope to see them again!!!

  • Best I have seen

by Sue on 2/21/24Columbia County Performing Arts Center - EvansRating: 5 out of 5

The Shen Yun performance was more than sensational. The dancers were technically perfect (I am assuming) and so graceful. The men and women were athletic and expressive. The stories they acted out were so interesting and ones I had never heard of. The narrators were in both English and Chinese. They were entertaining and informative of the dancers, dances, and Chinese culture. The orchestra was top notch. I could listen to them all day. Finally, there was a tenor and a soprano accompanied by a pianist. They we just as talented as the dancers. I would highly recommend this show to anyone!!!!

  • Beautiful presentation.

The show was very entertaining and had beautiful costumes. The CGI Screen integration behind the stage added a good touch and increased the quality of the show a good deal.

by Charles on 2/20/24Columbia County Performing Arts Center - EvansRating: 3 out of 5

Dancers were amazing, but each performance was very similar to each other. Enjoyed solo performers.

The stage props, the dancers, the singers, and the orchestra, performances were amazing. Every movement was done with grace and respect to the story being tod. I truly appreciate getting a glimpse of Chinese history. It was absolutely amazing.

  • Not comfortable with its promotion of the practice of Dafa

by Larry Sims on 2/20/24Columbia County Performing Arts Center - EvansRating: 1 out of 5

I felt uneasy with the songs presented which seemed to promote a philosophy that I do not subscribe to and because of that reason I will not be recommending this production

  • Shen Yun

by Barbara on 2/19/24North Charleston Performing Arts Center - North CharlestonRating: 3 out of 5

The dancing was beautiful. A little too long-winded on the narration of each skit. One of my biggest issues was the religious under tones of the Chinese beliefs. I am a staunch Catholic Christian and my husband a staunch Protestant Christian and we were turned off by the Chinese beliefs. The dancing was amazing and there is so much talent. Leave the Chinese religious beliefs out of it.

  • Extraordinary

The show was a great performance with only a few minor issues (soprano performance). Great way to learn about the Chinese culture, past and present. It's a must see if you like acrobatics, dance, Chinese music and choreography.

  • Dancers were very Artistic

by UNOWHO on 2/16/24North Charleston Performing Arts Center - North CharlestonRating: 4 out of 5

The show was captivating, and beautifully created. I love how the introduced the Story prior to each performance. Just Music, and dancing, and you were able to watch the story unfold! I did not really care for the Singers. Just seemed liked they were used as a filler? I would have enjoyed just the Orchestra music as a filler. The show was very good, the dancers were FANTASTIC... I would attend again in the future.
