  • Heartwarming & Inspirational

by Mike W on 12/18/24Penn's Peak - Jim ThorpeRating: 5 out of 5

The song selections were perfect for the season and very inspiring! Every musician on that stage was outstanding. We were particularly impressed by the new 21 year old guitar phenom!

  • Fantastic

by Goldwing Girl on 12/16/24Joan C Edwards Performing Arts Center - HuntingtonRating: 5 out of 5

This was my first time attending an event at the Joan C Edwards Performing Arts Center. No problem finding a place to park. Parked in the nearby Parking Garage and only cost $2.00. Ricky Skaggs and Kentucky Thunder put on a spectacular show which lasted for 2 hours. After the standing ovation they took the stage for one more song. I could have stayed there all night and listened to Ricky and Kentucky Thunder. I bought 2 T-shirts and also 2 CD's. Beautiful venue. The only thing I was disappointed about was there was no Water or Pop and no Snacks. Even if there had been water or pop or snacks that you could buy there is nothing allowed inside the Venue. Just like the Clay Center no food or drink allowed. Because of this I will not attend another event here.

  • A Humble Man; An Awesome Musician

by Ricky Skaggs on 1/10/24Birchmere - AlexandriaRating: 5 out of 5

Ricky Skaggs has been a part of the music scene for decades now. This most recent show at The Birchmere in Alexandria was well worth standing in line for. From his humble mountain music roots to pop, country, bluegrass, gospel, CMA award winner and Grand Ole Opry Member (too many awards to list!) - he's an absolute virtuoso who has a God-given gift for music. His talent is heartfelt and he loves to share not only his music but also his faith and his love for the Lord with others. As long he keeps putting on shows (he's 69 now) we'll keep going to listen to him. :)

  • Wonderful Show

by Bonnie on 1/9/24Birchmere - AlexandriaRating: 5 out of 5

Ricky Skaggs and Kentucky Thunder gave us a wonderful performance. The songs were well chosen and arranged. I loved every song. I loved Dennis Parker’s performance of “Jesus Loves Me” so much, it moved me to tears. I cannot wait for next year’s show at the Birchmere.

What an incredibly talented group of musicians. Those hands just flew across the strings and what came out was mesmerizing.

  • Kentucky Thunder!!

by Nancy on 12/28/23Tennessee Theatre - KnoxvilleRating: 5 out of 5

We had the best time laughing and singing with Ricky and his group. He is so personable and funny. He even appealed to youngsters in the group and sang Rudolph with them. He truly loves the Lord and tells the entire world what Jesus means to him and his family. Best musicians ever and he truly can play that mandoline. His voice sounds better than ever and loved his stories of his precious wife and kids and grandbaby! Thanks Ricky and Kentucky Thunder for a fantastic night of good clean fun! God Bless!

  • Very Enjoyable Evening!

by PSM on 12/21/23Tennessee Theatre - KnoxvilleRating: 5 out of 5

First time at Tennessee Theater and couldn't have asked for a better venue to enjoy the Ricky Skaggs and Kentucky Thunder concert. They were enjoying themselves as much as we were. The singalong with the Christmas songs was so much fun. Surely put me in the Christmas spirit@

  • Great Show!

by CJ on 12/21/23Tennessee Theatre - KnoxvilleRating: 5 out of 5

Enjoyed this sold out show. Like the way that Skaggs talked to the audience before each song. All the musicians with him were amazing….fiddle, guitar, banjo, bass, accordion and of course Skaggs on mandolin. He came out for the encore with an acapella number that was incredible…beautiful tone that reverberated throughout the theater.

  • Ricky Skaggs and Friends

    by lulu180 on 12/21/23Tennessee Theatre - KnoxvilleRating: 4 out of 5

The band and the music was wonderful. They get a 5-Star review My only complaint is about the lights behind the artists. Those were terrible. We were unable to watch most of the show because of the lights in the background. Watching the musicians is a large part of going to live events. The lights were almost as bad as strobe lights. Too bright. Too many. Too much flashing.

    great christmas show....................................................................................................

  • Great music, uninspired sermon.

by Birdy on 12/20/23Tennessee Theatre - KnoxvilleRating: 4 out of 5

This was my third Ricky Skaggs concert at the Tennessee Theater. As always, the music was wonderful; however, I felt like a captive audience for his extended sermonizing. Perhaps, his way of celebrating the season. Disappointing.

  • Heartfelt Christmas

by Keish on 12/20/23Tennessee Theatre - KnoxvilleRating: 5 out of 5

A relaxing Christmas concert with some humor, heartfelt religious songs, great instrumentals and singing. Would love to see Ricky for a concert of his older tunes that I grew up on one day.
