The second half was better than the first, but in all, great job by a good company.

Giselle was magical!
by tabewhite on 2/14/11Carpenter Theatre at Richmond CenterStage - RichmondRating: 5 out of 5I was so pleased with the Giselle performance. I took my 10 year-old daughter (and budding ballerina) as a special date for her birthday. She was entranced the entire time. I don't know very much about ballet, but was absolutely floored by the techical moves executed by the dancer. Beautiful!
Giselle was mesmerizing..!!
by Medona on 2/14/11Carpenter Theatre at Richmond CenterStage - RichmondRating: 5 out of 5This was my first time seeing a Ballet performance but I totally enjoyed the show. It was feast to the eyes and the heart.
Second Act was stunning
by Krupsch on 2/14/11Carpenter Theatre at Richmond CenterStage - RichmondRating: 5 out of 5I loved this presentation of Giselle. The first act did everything it was supposed to - begin the story, let us enjoy the sense of the village and the peasant folk, and reveal to us the treachery of the prince. The "mad scene" was effective. However the second act was simply awe inspiring. The dancer who was the Queen of the Wilis was phenominal as was the stage and set direction. Principal dancers did extremely well. After the ballet we went out for coffee but no one talked very much because we were all taken in with Giselle.

Richmond Ballet "Nutcracker" was terrific!
by PatandBen on 12/27/10Carpenter Theatre at Richmond CenterStage - RichmondRating: 5 out of 5Took my 6-year-old grandson. We both loved it. We each have seen 3 other Nutcracker versions, in other cities, and this was far & away the best.
Outstanding Staging of classic Ballet
by TexasDave on 12/27/10Carpenter Theatre at Richmond CenterStage - RichmondRating: 5 out of 5This was easily the best nutcracker I have ever seen. The music was outstanding particularly with the small chorus during the snow flake dance. The staging was creative. During many nutcrackers, its difficult to follow whats going on during the party scene and the mice - but this one was easy to follow - all of my three kids were able to follow along. The bear was a really nice touch. The venue was small so all seats are great. Parking was terrific and close by the theater.

The show was great, even from our nosebleed seats!! (In fact worked well, so we could see the dancers' formations)

Richmond Ballet, Nutcracker
by dnr2 on 12/26/10Carpenter Theatre at Richmond CenterStage - RichmondRating: 5 out of 5This production is the best ever! The sets were terrific and the whole production was fun and geared toward an audience out for a fun, family evening. That said, the dancing, especially by the Sugar Plum Fairy, was superb. The Carpenter Theater is an amazing venue. Plan to go next year!

Absolutely Fabulous
by Richmondresident on 12/25/10Carpenter Theatre at Richmond CenterStage - RichmondRating: 5 out of 5One of the most wonderful things about living in Richmond is being able to go to this each year. The production is just fabulous. It is brilliantly choreographed and performed to near perfection. And the visual effects are the most beautiful I have ever seen and I have seen a lot of versions of this ballet. The scenery is breathtaking and the costuming alone is worth the price of a ticket. The dresses of the flowers, with their subtle shades of yellow, violet and pink are entrancing. Haha this sounds like a paid endorsement but I don't know anyone connected with the Richmond Ballet....I assure you if you go to this production you will not be disappointed. It was the highlight of my Christmas season this year. I am over 50 and have see this ballet in numerous venues since I was a teen.

Wonderful production, great holiday tradition. Will go again next year.
beautiful ballet
by VA1234 on 12/23/10Carpenter Theatre at Richmond CenterStage - RichmondRating: 4 out of 5I always enjoy going to the Nutcracker! The performance was beautiful The venue was good, but I was not happy with the bathroom situation. There were no paper towels available to dry my hands and no one was available to ask about getting some. The prices for the tickets have greatly increased over the years and it's had to attend the show yearly as I used to. Overall, I always enjoy the ballet, which is the sole purpose of attending.
