Richard Thompson Tickets

Richard Thompson turned in another masterclass in singing, songwriting and especially guitar virtuosity - making it all looke ridiculously easy. He charmed the crowd, indulged a few requests and presented a career-long retrospective.

First of all, Richard Thompson was wonderful, a 5-star performance as usual! However I would not recommend purchasing a standing room ticket at the Vogel - the area was not where I expected, and was a triangle of concrete at the rear of the balcony on one side, with a bad view between the heads of those seated at the tables. Downstairs isn't much better - I cannot understand why they insist on the long narrow banquet tables and don't just arrange normal row seating. Stiff necks all round!

Getting old. Not as an electric performance as usual. I guess it had to happen eventually.

Fabulous night at The Vogel in Red Bank for one of my favorite singer/songwriter.. He is indeed one of the best guitarists in the music world.

My lovely bride and I have seen Richard Thompson probably 30 times over the past 35 years and he's always fantastic. This trip to Red Bank was no exception...the set list was OK but it was nice to hear cuts like "Valerie"which I've not seen in a few years. The venue is very nice...the picnic tables were a little different...it was like seeing RT at Octoberfest...all that was missing were buxom blondes in traditional Bavarian garb hoisting huge beer steins. But there is a legitimate reason why we never miss Mr. Thompson...he's one of the true monsters...songwriting, singing and of course, virtuosic guitar wizardry...PLAY ON!!! (Or "Morris On")

Richard Thompson, guitar virtuoso, songwriter, raconteur. Saw him first in 69 as part of Fairport Convention. All these years later, he remains relevant. Writing and performing new material as well as a selection from his vast catalog. His voice is great, his guitar playing beyond words, effortless, and yet sounds like three guitars. It was a terrific show; he seemed to be enjoying himself, and the sold-out crowd loved it. Highly recommended for anyone who wants to see a master at the top of his game.

At 75, Thompson is in full power in every aspect of his art - songwriting and performing. He is as powerful a guitarist as ever, and his voice is forceful and young as if he is 50 years younger. Oh, and he has a great sense of humor that emerges on stage, which is sometimes I didn’t expect considering his dramatic delivery of songs. I would love to see him again. Can’t stop listening to his records (sorry, Richard, streaming…).

Richard is a musical treasure. Astonishing guitar work, uniquely Richard tunes, fantastic band, all served up with warmth, wit, and a bit of humor. This tour he's rocking hard and I'm here for it.

I’ve seen Richard about 35-40 times since the 1980s, when I first encountered him as the opening act for a Randy Newman show. I was blown away by his guitar mastery then, and still, but it is his humor and relationship with the audience that makes every show hugely entertaining. The opening act this time was also superb. Very funny but also lively songs.
