    Absolutely Sublime

by Pita Pocket on 4/1/24Orpheum Theatre - Los Angeles

Laurie Anderson treated us to a small retrospective of her career. In doing so, she proved the timelessness of her song craft. Her themes are as relevant today as when the songs were written. There is no one like Laurie Anderson. Her communication with the audience is a gift. I’m still high from the night.

    Appreciation

by Love Laurie on 3/31/24Orpheum Theatre - Los Angeles

I enjoyed this performance very much. I saw United States @ Perkins Palace, Strange Angels @ Beacon Theater & Life On A String @ UCLA Royce Hall. I had a a college course that used The Ugly One With The Jewels as a jumping off point for a sculpture. The show @ The Orpheum was a nice look back.

    Her interesting life.

by Clifford on 3/31/24Orpheum Theatre - Los Angeles

She turned her life into music. She has been a compelling artist all her life, and to experience it for only a moment was great.

Finally, I’ve seen her perform live

by Okra on 3/30/24Orpheum Theatre - Los Angeles

Fate cheated me out of seeing Laurie ainSan Francisco four years ago, but nothing stood in my way this time. The show wasn’t quite as bizarre as I thought it might be, but I suppose that she can be forgiven for not going over the edge, every show, after so many years. She is a consummate performer and seems to really enjoy playing for audiences. I was a little surprised (but pleased) to hear so much early work. SexMob was an ideal group for her performance. The only downsides were: (1) The seating in the Orpheum is rather cramped, I was exceedingly happy not to have someone sitting to my left, so I could stretch my bad leg a bit; (2) at the first part of the show, Laurie’s microphone level seemed just a little low, but it wasn’t a problem for the entire time. I will be pleased to grab tickets at the next nearby performance.

It's Been Way Too Long. Thank You!

by Mojo Sam on 3/30/24Orpheum Theatre - Los Angeles

Even after all these years Laurie Anderson can still captivate an audience. Mostly older favorites which is smart because her current work is a a complete piece and would not come across well as fragmented pieces. A brilliant and tight band backing her was an aural joy to hear. Who else for an encore can get the entire audience on their feet and perform Tai Chi? A wonderful night indeed.

    Blasting into the future past

by LA on 3/30/24Orpheum Theatre - Los Angeles

Laurie Anderson revisited Big Science and also brought wit, humor & some human bonding. I left feeling like I was “with my people”.

    beautiful, funny, profound

by badinia on 3/30/24Orpheum Theatre - Los Angeles

I've been honored to see Laurie Anderson perform four or five times before- I believe this is the first time I saw her with a band, the legendary Sexmob- the show opened on some old hits, including the recently TikTok viral O, Superman, and closed on some newer material, including video from her museum installation from Washington, D.C. last year. The sold-out crowd was adoring and appropriately rapturous- when we demanded an encore, she came out, walked downstage, and led the audience in some tai chi movements she and Lou Reed used to do. I walked out with my brain tingling, relaxed, and feeling a connection to everyone who was in that room. So, I think it was a pretty good show.
