    Enjoying the Scottish Rite

by Rul on 1/29/20Scottish Rite Auditorium - Collingswood

Recently saw Richard Thompson at the Scottish Rite Theater. What a gem! Bot the musician and the theater. The theater is unusual due to it's small ( 1000 person) size, which creates an intimate feel. And the event staff could not be any nicer or more helpful.

    Another Stellar Performance!

by douger on 1/29/20Scottish Rite Auditorium - Collingswood

I've been to several RT shows and it is always a great time. Setlist always interesting, RT's songwriting, humourous conversation and guitar playing is an unmatched experience. Thank you Richard!!

    Musical treat!

by Cass on 1/29/20Scottish Rite Auditorium - Collingswood

Thompson performed solo without a band, and a young vocalist for a few tunes. Great way to truly appreciate his elegant and richly corded guitar and voice. Old favorites-Persuasion, Vincent 52 and even a Fairport Convention elegy along with more recent pieces were a lovely mix. I keep thinking he must slow down and retire at some point. But his performances are rich and vivacious 40 years on. I will continue as a fan and concert follower!

It never seemed I could get free time when he was in town. It finally worked out and he was awesome! Great guitar playing, story telling. A really great night.

    Musician supreme!

by Carla on 1/25/20Birchmere - Alexandria

Richard Thompson is just an amazingly talented man. I don't even know where to start. This show was just him and his acoustic guitar, and together they were a band. The man can play lead, rhythm, bass, and percussion on one instrument. His voice transcends the ages, whether he is singing a song that was written 500 years ago, or one from a recent release. He is also very engaging with the audience, and comes across as an old friend who enjoys making people happy. I think I was grinning the whole time. Do not miss a chance to see Richard Thompson!

    Richard Thompson Richard Thompson

    by M. G. on 1/25/20Birchmere - Alexandria

Sensational. While he did not reveal anything new, Richard put moments of new arrangements into many songs, making them new, precious and personal. The Birchmere does not have a bad seat - we were on the back wall and it sounded great and sightlines were clear. Food was tasty, and Richard Thompson opened the show for the main act, Birchmere proprietor Gary Olze who was in the lobby to say "hi".

    Memorable experience

    by Housing1st on 1/25/20Birchmere - Alexandria

Richard Thompson, 70 plus years young, has not lost his licks and his guitar playing remains phenomenal. A terrific concert, made all that much more engaging by his practiced, humorous repartee. Not one, but two encores. Memorable.

    The Filmore

by W. on 11/11/19The Fillmore - San Francisco

He is amazing. I would see again tonight. He is the cleanest guitar player I have seen. His picking is amazing. He is also a great vocalist and lyricist. The Filmore, what a classic, memories over the Dead many moons ago.

    Shreds the acoustic guitar

    by G. P. on 11/10/19The Fillmore - San Francisco

RT is a seminal figure in the history of the folk rock movement. He is also an amazing guitar player who is a pleasure to see. You wouldn't think you can dance to acoustic folk songs, but he makes it happen. Will definitely see again next time he is in town.

    Richard Thompson at the Fillmore

by Kim on 11/10/19The Fillmore - San Francisco

Richard Thompson is, by far, the most intense folk-rock guitarist and lyricist of the ages. His solo acoustic tour was a masterful exhibit of the brilliant cynical wit and emotional depths of a rock poet at his apex.

superb show; talent from the ages

by Kevin on 7/3/19Ocean City Music Pier - Ocean City

Richard Thompson gave a wonderful show that showed his professional talent that crosses through decades of experience. He conversed with the audience frequently, and his sense of humor was a real treat, with several sing alongs using various parts of the crowd for each chorus. I was not familiar with his work, as I am a huge Joan Osborne fan, but Richard stole the show with a variety of great songs spanning decades. Joan was very good, but singing only Bob Dylan songs, and only for 40 minutes, did not reflect her immense talent.

    Great performer and music

by Alan on 6/30/19Old Whaling Church - Edgartown

Too much reverb in the Old Whaling Church made it hard to understand the lyrics and when Richard was speaking.

    Extremely Enjoyable

by Katysue on 6/30/19Old Whaling Church - Edgartown

Richard is a troubadour in the finest sense of the word. He entertained the crowd with his smiling eyes, extraordinary guitar playing and masterful singing songwriting. He performed for a full two hours, engaging the audience in his songs and stories. We loved him and the concert! Please bring him back to Martha’s Vineyard again soon!
