    Rent was amazing!!!!!!

by ladanseuse1387 on 10/8/09Curran Theatre - San Francisco

I had seen the movie more than once and I had the original recording. I couldn't get enough of the songs. When I saw that Rent was coming to San Francisco I knew I had to see it, and I'm glad I did. Best show ever!!!!!

    Opening Night Rent

by FrannyMama on 10/8/09Curran Theatre - San Francisco

Took my 13-year-old daughter to Opening Night. I'd seen the movie but she hadn't. The performers were awesome. It's an interesting storyline to explain to a young teen, but she got it for the most part. Know the storyline before taking young teens is my advice so you can somewhat "prep" them if need be. Bottom line, it's a touching story of friendship, love, loss, pain - the basics of life. So glad the original guys were in the cast - THEY MAKE IT!

    Overall Great Show!

by Ambeezy on 10/8/09Curran Theatre - San Francisco

Great show. Anthony Rapp was fantastic reprising his role as Mark Cohen. I think the actress who portrayed Mimi left a little to be desired and was cheesy at times, but she did have a great voice and provided a couple good moments. The ensemble numbers were all fantastic!

    RENT!!

by BQuiz on 10/8/09Curran Theatre - San Francisco

This musical was absolutely amazing. I was completely hypnotized. I have already told all my friends to go. Too bad its only in town for two weeks, I would go again and again if I had the chance. I have been a RENT fan for a long time. I've watched the movie a countless number of times, and I can finally say even though it's great, the musical blows it out of the water. I was tired from a long day of work when I got there, but the atmosphere and the people woke me right up.

    Awesome Show, Crappy Acoustics

by Lamie81 on 10/8/09Curran Theatre - San Francisco

Rent never disappoints and this show was no different.....One small problem which could have been part of the theater, or perhaps where we were sitting (front row of the balcony) was that the music was so loud that it drowned out the vocals during many parts of the show....granted, I've listened to that soundtrack about a million times, so I still knew what was going on, but it was my boyfriend's first time to Rent and a few things were lost on him due to the sound. Would definitely go again, but would also love the vocal/music issue to be resolved....turn down that electric guitar!! :)

Rent was awesome, only 1 thing wrong

by crazybear7 on 10/8/09Curran Theatre - San Francisco

rent was awesome, the only thing that bothered me was that the music was a little too loud. To the point where I couldn't hear the wonderful singers.

    Took me by surprise

by dwwbobby on 10/7/09Curran Theatre - San Francisco

This was the first show i ever attended and it was great! In my opinion, the first act was very slow, but very necessary. The second act however, was amazing. The feeling was real and it sent chills through my spine. And I am not talking about for a moment, but almost the entire second act was bone chilling. You will not be disappointed if you watch this show. It is simply amazing

    RENT was awesome

by Huan on 10/7/09Curran Theatre - San Francisco

The original Mark and Roger rocked the vocals. Angel was also fantastic and others could've been more consistant but overall strong ensemble.

    classic performance

by MaileWy on 10/7/09Curran Theatre - San Francisco

Went with my 12 year old daughter to see her "favorite musical ever." We were not disappointed. The lead roles being reprised was great for her to see--she loves them. The other actors who we did not know were amazing. Great story, great message, great musical. Go see it before it is gone forever!

anthony rapp and adam pascal are amazing

by asdflovedtheshow on 10/7/09Curran Theatre - San Francisco

This performance was truly unforgettable and one of the best live experiences that i've ever had. Anthony Rapp's slight mannerisms define Mark and Adam Pascals voice was moving and expressive. Both players define what is Rent. All of the other actors were amazing as well, mimi, angel, collins, joanne, maureen, benny, and it reflected on the energy of the audience. I'm definitely going to try to see rent again during this run. Unfortunately, Anthony and Adam may have ruined the option of me seeing anyone else in these two roles. They were just too amazing.

    Could be better

by bd459 on 10/7/09Curran Theatre - San Francisco

Rent is a good show, not great. The cast is very talented, the play/musical is very well executed. But for the $$$, the finer points need to be cleaned up. Specifically- The entire cast needs to enunciate. Between the volume of the music and the fact that nearly all the lines are sung, it is difficult to understand all the lines. This is complicated by the fact that the diction was average at best. 2. The music is too loud, the words get lost behind the music. This says nothing of the fact that character development takes a distant 3rd place behind the music and singing, but I dont expect you to rewrite the musical, just make it more understandable, and less of a Jonas Brothers concert.

    sound system???

by smittynag on 10/7/09Curran Theatre - San Francisco

having seen this play..in its current cast numerous times..it is STILL wonderful...sound and lighting were off at the Curran..band wayyyyyyyyy too loud..mikes were off initially, and the lighting spotlights at times were off and wayy too dark..other than that Adam Pascal and the gang were wonderful. People with coughs...stay home! No one wants what you got!!
