About

PURITY RING IN CONCERT:

Canadian electro pop duo Purity Ring deftly combines soaring melodies and shimmering atmospherics to create an etheral soundworld that consistely captivates ticket buyers. Frontwoman Megan James forms a direct connection with her audience in concert, relating tales of heartbreak with her sincere and pristine vocals. Producer Corin Roddick mans the swirling synths and blossoming basslines, creating a rich tapestry for James’ voice to float above. In addition to their carefully crafted interplay, the group also adorns the stage with illuminated decorations that move along to the melody. Fans won’t want to miss the visual splendor and aural beauty that Purity Ring brings to songs like “Bodyache” and “Push Pull” whenever they take the stage.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Purity Ring’s rise to underground success has been on fast forward since they formed. Though vocalist Megan James and producer Corin Roddick befriended each other while playing high school gigs in Edmonton, Canada, they didn’t officially collaborate until they both joined the band Born Gold in 2010. While on the road, Roddick began experimenting with electronic productions as a side project, eventually asking James to sing on a track. Thus, Purity Ring was born as the two bounced demos back and forth via email over the following year. Their 2012 debut Shrines struck an instant chord with audiences and led to an extensive introductory tour. The nonstop performing paid off, enabling them to take the next step and enter a dedicated recording studio for the first time in 2014. The resulting album, 2015’s Another Eternity, built upon the strengths of its predecessor and solidified Purity Ring as one of the most promising young bands, both for their stellar recorded output as well as their visually stunning live shows.

    Missing Dawn Ri’Chard

by Left early - No Dawn Ri’chard on 7/10/22Buckhead Theatre - Atlanta

I am usually open to trying something new. However, I went to this concert expecting the opening act to be Dawn Ri’chard. Somehow I thought the name of the tour was Purity Ring & did not notice that Dawn’s name was taken off the co-billing. As I sat in the audience I started scouring the internet to see when Dawn Ri’Chard exited the tour. I couldn’t find it. I actually left the concert early because I was not into Purity Ring. This was the second pandemic tour where artists I came to see exited from the tour. #annoying

    Mesmerizing

Beautiful event. The theater wasn't overcrowded and I felt at ease around a large population of people. The show was amazing and put on very well. I loved theatre.

After waiting 2 years... it was worth the wait!!! AMAZING!

by Tina on 7/9/22Buckhead Theatre - Atlanta

The Buckhead Theater was nice, we had amaizing seats in the balcony,a bar upstairs for the balcony seats so we did not have to keep going downstairs. The opening act Ekkstacy was so good, we are totally going to look up his music. Purity Ring is soooo good live. The lights and graphics during the show just add another layer of awesome to the whole experience. This is our second time seeing Purity Ring and will keep buying tickets whenever they go on tour again and again.

    Out of body experience

by Sydm on 7/9/22Buckhead Theatre - Atlanta

Purity Ring is a must see. Their music is amazing but the performance really made the show. They also encourage everyone to wear a mask during the concert.

    Best Concert! 100%

by mafbanana on 7/9/22Buckhead Theatre - Atlanta

This was the best concert I have ever been to. The crowd was super respectful, parking was easy to find, and the venue was a comfortable size. Drinks were a bit overpriced. The concert itself was spectacular, no complaints. Very original, entertaining, engaging, and just a lot of fun! Really the sound, lighting, and overall performance was on point. Would 100% go to another concert. This review is from the ATL location.

A visual masterpiece to match the music

What an incredible show. Beautiful visuals, stunning set, and costuming. And of course, Purity Ring was mindmeltingly good.

    True Artists!

by D on 7/8/22Marathon Music Works - Nashville

Purity Ring concerts are above and beyond! The visuals are absolutely spectacular and mesmerizing. The singer’s outfits are also incredible and she apparently made at least some of them herself. They are truly artists. They played so many songs too and her voice is great live. I will see them any chance I get.

    Amazing Ring

by Iamferucci on 7/5/22The Fillmore Charlotte - Charlotte

The best visual concert experience I have ever had after decades of being a rabid music and concert fan! I loved the music before going but was not prepared for the overall amazing experience of Purity Ring. Can't wait for them to come to Charlotte again.

Purity Ring is divine. Megan James is a god.

by Dolly on 7/5/22The Ritz - Raleigh

I've seen almost every great concert that you could even ever imagine. From Nine Inch Nails, Sonic Youth, Dinosaur Jr, Marilyn Manson, Beastie Boys, GWAR, Bjork, Radiohead, to Bauhaus, The Donnas, Pigface, Rusted Root, Type O negative, Clutch, Fugazi, Primus, Tool, etc...you name it. But no performance compares to the music, lyrics, beats, stage props, and performance that Megan James and Purity Ring offers the audience. I absolutely love all of their shows. Although, I must say that their performance at the Ritz in Raleigh, NC was the best show that I have ever seen by them. Any band really. My only gripe about the entire show, was the fact that because of the epidemic, Megan had to cover her face. I hated that part. I love seeing her beautiful face. When you see her entire face along with the music that Purity Ring produces for us, it completes the entire circle of absolute perfection. I will think of this performance everyday for the rest of my life. Thank you Purity Ring, the Ritz, Live Nation, and Ticketmaster, for the experience of a lifetime!

    A Truly Beautiful Experience

by D Rock on 7/3/229:30 CLUB - Washington

One of the best concerts I’ve seen in a long time. The music was clear and the sound setup was great as always at 930. The vocals were amazing and ethereal and the show itself was incredibly done. So few shows place such an emphasis on the artistic and practical (non-digital) effects and costumes. As much an immersive work of art as it was an incredible musical performance. Cannot recommend Purity Ring shows highly enough!

    Wow!!!

by Connor on 7/2/229:30 CLUB - Washington

7 years since the last tour and these two are not messing around. The visuals were awesome, the vocals, the live production it was absolutely beautiful to witness and I would watch it again and again. Even if you’re not a fan, you are bound to appreciate the sheer talent that these two possess and put out for everyone to see. The 9:30 Club needs to work on their microphone interference issues because it was squealing quite a bit and it took away from the show a bit. Nonetheless, LOVED the show

    Good show, bad venue

by OriginIdgy on 6/26/22Big Night Live - Boston

The show itself was really great. It was my first time at Big Night Live though, and it was underwhelming. The sight lines to the stage on the main floor were poor. Being short, I could not see a thing most of the time. Traffic flow is ill-considered. Once on the main floor, you are pretty well stuck for the duration, as you can only enter/exit from one side. The biggest problem, though, was the acoustics. The sound quality was quite distorted, no matter where I stood. I have seen this band in the past elsewhere, and they sounded great, so this was definitely not their fault. I would attend again, but not at this venue. In fact, I will think twice about attending any show here in the future.
