Ekkstacy on Tour

Solo artist Ekkstacy gives you the cathartic experience that only happens on stage, all while staying true to his melodic and subtle weave of lofi beats and wistful vocals. Ekkstacy is a blast of retro,-- his dreamy, gloomy music threading a lifeline to the past. In concert, he goes for big visuals, like sporting black attire under red lights and smoke, while channeling the magnetic force of uncensored emotion. In his music videos, his retro ambience comes out in full documentary fashion. Video footage plays out with destabilized framing, bleached takes and a melancholic, stark saturation. Static spots interfere with clean takes and the camera feed flickers in and out. In scenes featuring Ekkstacy, his wardrobe calls back to grunge sweaters and baggy tank tops.Ā

The settings in his videos also recreate a bygone atmosphere. In "i gave you everything," the video is gray scale and jumps across different '80s- reminiscent scenes. One thread shows the band playing in a garage-style outfit, while in another, a teenager wearing a crop top blows dandelion seeds while lying in the grass. The song weaves its way with nostalgia for an increasingly vanishing era.

Ekkstacy brings to his shows a commanding presence, which he delivers through a variety of songs and an arc of emotions. His offhand iIndie tone only complements this intensity, providing enough softness to convey gripping loneliness or existential fear with his moody arrangements.

Ekkstacy Live in Concert

Ekkstacy is a Canadian solo artist. Some of his influences include The Drums and Joy Division. Ekkstacy has succeeded on YouTube with several songs reaching hundreds of thousands of views. His tracks are also a hot pick for remixes and loops, speaking to their therapeutic resonance with so many fans. His lyrics are straightforward and emotive, foregoing scenic exposition and wordplay in favor of direct, raw expressions.

His passion is also clear in his attention to detail. In his extended play 2021 album, Negative, the titles of his songs make up a short, telegraph-like poem. Put together, the titles say: "i walk this earth all by myself / then i met her / it only gets worse, i promise / i want to be by your side / for forever / but there is always hatred / in love." Ekkstacy seems to put careful detail into each aspect of music production.

Ekkstacy's songs include "Still Breathing" featuring HEALTH, as well as "I Guess" featuring See You Next Year.

    Ekkstacy

by Kitty on 3/15/24White Oak Music Hall - Upstairs - Houston

This concert was amazing!! It felt so surreal I loved seeing one of my favorite artists in concert. It gave me so much euphoria and I highly recommend seeing Ekkstacy! I wish the room was a little bigger but I right Infront of the stage. So people may have just been pushing to much šŸ˜

    Great Energy with Sloppy End

by Bowery Ballroom Attendee on 2/27/24Bowery Ballroom - New York

Ekkstacy is like Iggy Pop with a lot of wonderful, punk energy. He did drink so much that both the band and the crowd didn't know what was happening. Was there going to be an encore? There ended up being one but it took about 20 minutes to perform 3 songs and he said he was going to perform a song that they already did. Fortunately, the band was extremely solid and performed the last song that was part of the encore.

Ekkstacy has no love for fans

by Trix on 2/26/24Brighton Music Hall presented by Citizens - Boston

Alex sucks opens for ekkstacy and I didnā€™t know them but they had a good set and a nice lil pit ekkstacy comes out people are vibing he does a slow song people are yelling to him showing love and he explains he thinks no oneā€™s feeling and heā€™s gonna skip a song on his se, no crowd interaction youā€™d think such a small artist would show more care for his fans for being the reason heā€™s as big as he is

Great Venue, Great Opener, Good Ekkstacy

by jjstoke on 2/25/24Bowery Ballroom - New York

The Bowery Ballroom is always a great place to experience music; their is a distinct historical mysticism to the place that seems to always amplify the performances. ALEXSUCKS was great! they started off on slower notes and although the lead singer (Alex) claimed he lost his voice, the amplification of his voice was good enough to hardly notice. They really brought out the energy towards the end of their performance, including a stage dive into the mosh by the lead singer, topping off the opening act in a memorable fashion. EKKSTACY entered about 30 minutes afterwards and continued the upbeat energy. At this point the crowd was fully packed to see him perform however, it felt like there was a lack of a WOW factor that was felt with ALEXSUCKS. EKKSTACY continuously attempted to connect with the audience by speaking to members of the crowd and engaging in conversation. This connection that EKKSTACY was fostering with dialogue was something ALEXSUCKS was able to do simply by performing their music and I think, in a better manner. All in all, great show and I am super stoked I was able to see two great bands live!

    Disappointing -- sonically and otherwise.

    by John M on 8/5/23

For me the show was honestly a letdown. Part of this may not be the bands fault, as the acoustics in the Old National Deluxe are truly awful. I honestly don't know why they continue to use it as a venue as the sound is always muddy, thumpy and generally lacking in acoustic clarity. Having said that, the band, in their recorded music, actually has a nice sonic balance and some uniqueness and subtlety. The lead singers voice, which is pretty good -- has a prominent place. Unfortunately in the live show, they tend to turn up the distorted guitars and drums, and rock out in a blasting wall of sound. They drown out the lead singers voice and end up sounding like most any of the endless punk or garage bands out there. In short -- lot of overpowering energy and very little musical subtlety and balance. For some that may be desirable, but not to me. I'm not sure if its the fault of the sound mixer, the bands preference, or what, but for me it made the show unmemorable, and the person I took to the show (a musician) felt the same. My favorite song of the evening was an almost acoustic one at the end when the lead singer sang alone, without much backing from the band.

High energy & a lot of fun!!

    by Adriee on 7/24/23

This young man is such a vibe! It's the second time I've gone to one of his shows and it just got better. He puts in a lot of energy and is super down to earth. I got a chance to take a picture with him after the show. I wish him all the success in the world.
