About "Horizons"

World-renowned physicist Professor Brian Cox brings his immersive live experience, "Horizons: A 21st Century Space Odyssey," to North America.

"Horizons" takes us on a dazzling cinematic journey. A story of how we came to be and what we can become.

The deepest of questions will be explored using the latest advances in our understanding of quantum theory, black holes, biology, planetary science, astronomy and cosmology. Using state-of-the-art LED screen technology, venues will be filled with images of far-away galaxies, alien worlds, supermassive black holes and a time before the Big Bang.

"Horizons" is a celebration of our civilization, of our music, art, philosophy and science; an optimistic vision of our future if we continue to explore Nature with humility and to value ourselves and our fellow human beings. Brian will once again be joined by co-host of The Infinite Monkey Cage and award-winning comedian Robin Ince, perhaps the only collection of sentient atoms in the observable Universe capable of overseeing a Q&A with an audience of 10,000 people while wearing an old cardigan.

    Brilliant

by T.Mac on 6/20/22Ricardo Montalban Theatre - Hollywood

Prof. Cox introduces you to information you could only get at a university. He breaks information down so that the reasonably intelligent person can understand. It was so exciting! I learned so much. This is the second time I attend his “lecture”. Looking forward to the next!

    Theater Air Conditioner Subpar

by Art on 6/20/22Ricardo Montalban Theatre - Hollywood

Midway through the event the theater was getting hot inside. It made it feel very uncomfortable snd just about ruined our experience with this wonderful scientist where despite the conditions, put on an excellent show. In the future, I will unlikely consider attending an event at this theater, especially during hot months.

    Most Excellent!

by Space Cadet Glow on 6/20/22Ricardo Montalban Theatre - Hollywood

This show makes made mew feel incredibly intelligent and incredibly ignorant at the same time... which believe it or not, was actually quite exhilarating..... kind of like an ice cream brain freeze. It was certainly a fascinating evening and it was definitely worth the price of admission just to smugly tell my friends and family that I was going to a Physics lecture in Hollywood on a Friday night. Sign me up for the next one!

    So, so fun!

by BettyRocker on 6/20/22Ricardo Montalban Theatre - Hollywood

My husband was laughing on the way home at the fact that every time he looked my way, I was 'rapt'. The lecture was thoughtful, entertaining, thought-provoking, and enriching. I loved it.

Great presentation, but could do without the comic sidekick

by Marc on 6/20/22California Theatre - San Jose

I went to see Brian and he didn't disappoint. The comic with him detracted from the experience more ,than added to it. I honestly don't care if the evening would had been a bit more dry without it, I would have been delighted to hear from Brian only all night.

    Fascinating as always

by Lana on 6/19/22California Theatre - San Jose

The lecture was good, though not much different than the previous tour from 2019. I don’t mind hearing it over and over - cosmology and theoretical physics is so mind-blowing that I will never get tired of it. The only complaint (but a big one!!!) I have is that the beginning intro (the short film of cosmic and Earth history) was accompanied by such loud music that was unbearable. Everyone around me had their hands over their ears in a desperate attempt to save their ear drums.

    Educational and Entertaining

by ScotAlan on 6/19/22California Theatre - San Jose

We have seen many of Professor Cox's TV shows and couldn't pass on the opportunity to see him in person. The theater is lovely. Professor Cox appeared to go into enough detail to satisfy the scientists in the audience, but still managed to get his thoughts over to the laymen in the audience. His explanations were, generally, well made and interesting. Excellent night.

    Just ok

by Rc06 on 6/19/22California Theatre - San Jose

The sound was not great. That combined with Professor Cox’s accent and fast speech I missed a lot of what was said. The other problem was that the information was very high level so I had a hard time understanding what I did hear.

    Some Enchanted Evening

by Ratch on 6/16/22SAFE Credit Union Performing Arts Center - Sacramento

I realize this isn’t for everyone, but I wish it was. From the brilliant simulations on the giant LED screen, to the comedy, to the mind bending explanations of everything from the vastness of the universe to the importance of consciousness and the life we were somehow able to receive. If you’re at all science inclined, you must see this show (after all, at these prices, it’s not a lecture, it’s a show)!

    Wonderful perspective shift

by Casey on 6/16/22SAFE Credit Union Performing Arts Center - Sacramento

I took my husband to this lecture as a birthday gift. We both really enjoyed the content and even though it wasn’t super easy for me to follow the detailed science info, I generally understood most of it and really enjoyed the perspective shift that comes from zooming out far into the massive universe (and beyond!). A wonderful presentation and event all around.

    Enlightening!

by Wes on 6/12/22Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

If you are a devout follower of the progress in this particular area of science not everything will be new information, but it is an eye catching and humorous way to share what we currently know with those who are just starting out.
