About
Talk about magic!
British comedy actors Daniel Clarkson and Jefferson Turner have distilled all 4,200 pages of J. K. Rowling's seven Harry Potter novels into one brilliantly hilarious 70-minute show. Potted Potter: The Unauthorized Harry Experience is a lovably loopy two-person performance in which a Potter know-it-all teams up with a rebellious Harry newbie to create a show about -- you guessed it -- Harry Potter.
Clarkson and Turner conceived the show in 2005 as a five-minute sidewalk synopsis to amuse customers queued up for Rowling's sixth Harry novel. They expanded it to an hour the following year and opened at Edinburgh's Zoo Southside. European tours ensued, and in 2012 Potted Potter was nominated for two Olivier Awards, the highest honor in British theater. The show made its off-Broadway debut the same year and has since toured all over the United States and the world. After opening in 2018, the family-friendly Las Vegas production won Best of Last Vegas Awards for Best New Production and Best Value Show.
One actor channels a bookish Harry in Potted Potter while another plays every other character -- including Ron and Hermione, Draco Malfoy, Snape, the Weasleys, Sirius Black, Mad-Eye Moody, Dumbledore and, of course, He Who Must Not Be Named -- with wild abandon. Loads of wigs and other goofy props are employed in a nonstop laugh fest that also features a fire-breathing dragon, countless costume changes, brilliant songs, a plethora of props and even a Quidditch match encouraging audience participation (but no brooms, alas).
Accessible to Potter freaks and newbies alike, Potted Potter blends slapstick in the Laurel & Hardy vaudeville tradition with the wildly witty dialogue associated with Monty Python's Flying Circus. "Potting" is a British term for "the art of summarizing something into a digestible form," and, like all the best parodies, Clarkson and Turner's Harry experience is both splendid spoof and heartfelt homage.

So Darn Funny
by Smurfiegirl on 5/5/15City Theatre - DetroitRating: 5 out of 5My granddaughter and I (both serious Potter fans) attended this performance. We were a bit sceptical but once it began they had us till the end. Which came much to soon. We laughed so much, and I was surprised that the audience was filled with adults minus children. Making me feel less conspicuous. It was an enjoyable time and i would recommend this to any Potter person.
Amazing!
by Ktmh on 5/5/15City Theatre - DetroitRating: 5 out of 5I'm a huge hp fan even in my twenties. It was kid friendly for all the young ones in the crowd but it had a good amount of adult humor as well. I haven't laughed that hard in a long time. It's a must see!

by IMDyerseve on 5/4/15City Theatre - DetroitRating: 4 out of 5I wasn't sure what to expect from a two man show, so my expectations weren't very high. I ended up being very impressed. I wish I would have brought more of my family to see it. It was fun and I laughed through almost the entire show.
Loved this show!!
by Sterr on 5/1/15Capitol Theatre - ColumbusRating: 5 out of 5Wow I can't say enough about how much I loved this show. We had great seats which I highly recommend sitting close so you can see every facial expression, it really makes a difference. This show was just hilarious and exactly what I needed after a stressful few weeks. The show is truly perfect for all ages. I wish more shows were as interactive and comical as this one.

Potted Potter
by 2Bigfeet on 4/28/15Capitol Theatre - ColumbusRating: 3 out of 5Not sure that the ticket price was worth the show. Did get me to laugh a few times, but some of the British humour, was diffficult to get, not sure it it was the British accent or just the line of humour.
Potted Potter for even the Muggles
by DSpyro on 4/28/15Capitol Theatre - ColumbusRating: 5 out of 5Potted Potter was a fantastic show. It kept up laughing from start to finish. I was impressed with the cast coming up and shaking our hands before the show. My six year old was hysterical laughing the entire time.
Witty fun for all ages!!!!
by LancasterGuy on 4/27/15Capitol Theatre - ColumbusRating: 5 out of 5Potted Potter was fantastic in its simplicity and in its ability to involve everyone in the crowd. The quick-thinking actors made it even better by immediately incorporating events from the show in later parts of the same show. My 9-year-old laughed as much as my wife and me.
Great for the family!
by Anonymous on 4/27/15Capitol Theatre - ColumbusRating: 5 out of 5We took our children (10 and 8) who love the series. They had a blast and one was even called on stage to participate! Worth every penny!
Kudos from Columbus, Ohio
by Anonymous on 4/27/15Capitol Theatre - ColumbusRating: 5 out of 5As a birthday present for my husband, I had no idea what to expect from the performance but was NOT disappointed. At times, I was laughing so hard I couldn't breathe. It was the perfect combination of family friendly dialogue, adult humor, and audience participation. The actors took great lengths to incorporate a variety of culturally relevant references from books, to music lyrics, popular moves, and even each other. KUDOS!
