Oh my goodness! This was an amazing show! I laughed the entire time! I loved how they involved the audience. They delivered punchlines with ease. Broadway Playhouse in Chicago was also a great venue, easy to get to, easy to get into, and their “Peachy Potion” is a must if you’re of drinking age!
Yes, it was funny in parts. Muggle that joined us had no idea about many of the jokes. Price was somewhat expensive for a two man show. Overall, it was fun for my 9yo who is in love with HP, but those with only movie experience of the world of HP may not appreciate the low budget parody of the books.

Joe and James were absolutely hysterical. What a great way to spend the afternoon with my two kids! I’ve never read the books, but my kids did when they were in grade school. We all laughed aloud throughout their performance. Also loved the venue and the fact that BIC offered the BYGO promo.
This was our 2nd time seeing this show and it did not disappoint! it is a great show with a ton of laughs! My only issue is that it goes so fast you feel like you are missing stuff! Seriously this is a great show for kids of ALL ages!
Went to the show expecting great entertainment and was disappointed. Performers were not mic'ed well and were hard to follow. Show was not as clever as I hoped, although some in the audience clearly were having a great time.
Perfect for the whole family . 70 minutes of giggles and some laugh out loud moments. Great way to spend an afternoon.
Potted Potter is a fast moving slapstick comedy show that just happens to use The Harry Potter books as its center. It is by no means a Harry Potter show. It was very funny and entertaining. We all enjoyed the show. Even those who know nothing about Harry Potter will enjoy the show. That being said, I am not sure the price matches the show. I think it is a bit over-priced and would be better priced at $25 ticket. Appropriate for all ages-no swearing or obscenities used that I can remember
I saw Potted Potter when it first came to Chicago at the Harris Theate and I'm glad it's at the Theate at Watertower, it's a smaller venue with no bad seats. The only reason I gave this 4 stars is because it is supposed to be child friendly as there as quie a few younger kids there with their parents and some of the content I found to be inappropriate for the younger audience. But overall very funny.
Our whole family laughed our heads off at this brilliantly fun family show. Book your tickets soon - it can't fail to make you smile!
This is a good play especially if you have children of any age to introduce to the theater. You do not have to be a huge Potter fan to enjoy it, in fact there are references meant for adults that children likely won’t get that do not tie to Potter. My husband and I enjoyed this event without our son, so anyone can enjoy it. This was a good value in Chicago with a nice small Theater space there was likely no bad seat. I think I saw booster seats for small tykes too
I got tix for my kids to Potted Potter for Xmas. I was pleasantly surprised to find it was perfectly balanced humor and fun for all ages!!
Skeptical when we bought the tickets. The 2 actors were truly amazing. My family is Harry Potter family but I’ve never read it. But we all enjoyed it. Highly recommended.
We got bumped to front row which was awesome. The actors were hilarious and Joe came out and greeted and chatted with us and our kids for a bit. They put on a fantastic show and we were crying laughing through out. It was the best show we've seen in a long time. Our kids 9 & 10 loved it. They have really gotten into Harry Potter lately so it was definitely worth it. Highly recommend
Went to the show yesterday. Reading the recent reviews by others made me write one. Have no idea how so many saw this show and liked it so much. Went with my 16 year old son who likes Potter movies and he fell asleep within the first half hour. Had some laughs the first half hour or so but the kid humor got old after that time. This is humor for very small children by two actors with no set and no costumes. Save your money and watch the Harry Potter movies again in your own home.
I must admit I am know very little of Harry Potter having been somewhat forced to tag along with my friend to see it. I probably missed a good few "inside knowledge" Potter jokes but it certainly didn't stop me laughing from start to finish. The 2 actors perform so well and improvise with audience reactions and like no other actors would! Would highly recommend seeing it - even if you know very little of Harry Potter like I did!
This is a really funny show that our mixed-age party all loved - and we were four generations! The humor is very British but with a dash of good old Chicago improv! Thoroughly recommended.
This show is phenomenal! It's super funny and fun for all my friends who went. Some were not Harry Potter fans before but after seeing this humorous spectacle they are! I love the Quidditch especially!
My friends saw this last time it was in Chicago and I was so sad to miss it, this time I was ready and oh my I was not disappointed! Laughing to the point it hurt my stomach! I’m a huge Harry Potter fan and this had everything I could hope for! Such a wonderfully written script and performed perfectly! Could not recommend enough!
