    Funny....not!!!

by Tooth81 on 3/29/10French Institute/Florence Gould Hall - New York

Wow, from all the hype you would thing you would be rolling in your seat. Did not find any part of this "play" the least bit funny...the acting was just ok. I found the whole thing too "young" for me. All this hip hop music and street talk did nothing for me...

This play was fantastic. The actors were great. Some of the scenes hit home. I have gone through some of the same trials and tribulations that is inspired by this play.

by RINANYC on 3/28/10French Institute/Florence Gould Hall - New York

I enjoyed the real topics discussed with a comic twist. The seats were comfortable. The view to the stage was clear. The actors were funny and talented singers. I would recommend this show to anyone.

Platanos & Collard Greens, That's whats up

by Kayki on 3/28/10French Institute/Florence Gould Hall - New York

This play was hillarious to no end. I laughed my butt off all night. Although it was very funny , this play dealt with real life issues head on. Thankyou for making my night.

    Urban, current, African-Carribean-Spanish history

by KandiGTF on 3/23/10French Institute/Florence Gould Hall - New York

The production for the show is minimal however, it doesn't take away from the point and message that is being presented. My friend said that the information/history on the slave trade in the Carribean was redundant for her yet it was all new to me.

    Did not disappoint

by Beya on 3/22/10French Institute/Florence Gould Hall - New York

I truly enjoyed this performance. Although I am neither African American nor Latina the theme was universal and I was engaged the entire time. Bravo to the cast and playwright!

    Disappointed

by Lthepoet on 3/21/10French Institute/Florence Gould Hall - New York

I went based on the hype of others who went and I was at some points confused as to which direction the play was taking. However, it did have a few funny moments so thank goodness for that because otherwise I may have not been able to stay awake...Nah mean! lol

Platanos & Collard Greens Enjoyable Afternoon

by Kafe on 3/21/10French Institute/Florence Gould Hall - New York

We weren't sure if we were really going to enjoy this off Broadway play. I had heard mixed reviews. I now think the people that didn't enjoy it, were looking for scenery, costumes etc. There is none, but it was funny, thought provoking and refreshing. Yes you can make good theater without lots of money and production. Poetry Jam fans should definitely see it. For teens to adults. The cast changes but we saw Edgar Moore Jr, Karina Ortiz, Raqiyah Mays, BE Rivers and Preston Taylor who were all great!

    Remarkable Cast!!!

by Zwoman370 on 3/21/10French Institute/Florence Gould Hall - New York

Lots of history of our latin and black roots. Truly amazing story that me as a Puerto Rican growing up in New York could relate to.

The show was definitely something I didn't expect to watch. There was a lot of mention of how two cultures who have such a similar cultural past have now divided themselves. The modern take on interracial love and misunderstanding concepts of race is very interesting. Go watch it!

a must see for all bi & multi-racial relationships

by jt511 on 3/2/10French Institute/Florence Gould Hall - New York

this play brought to light a lot of ''hidden prejudices'' that often keep people from finding true love. This play proves that as far as society has come in terms racial equality, there is much work to be done. When you can't bring your boyfriend/girlfriend home to meet the family because you will be disowned, that is a sin and a crime in my opinion. We were ALL created in GOD's image! We need to stop dwelling on skin color and focus on pressing issues like keeping a job and a roof over our heads. Together we can overcome all things!
