Rating: 4 out of 5by Anonymous on 10/27/14Pantages Theatre - Los Angeles Rating: 1 out of 5 Really dissapointing show.
by Leafan on 10/27/14Pantages Theatre - Los AngelesThe story is told very badly. The circus acts are great but they don't match in so many places with the story. The characters are not well defined and sometimes their dialogue makes no sense. As a big Cirque du Soleil and Broadway shows fan it is so bad that shows like these take the place of some others that really deserved such as Allegiance with Lea Salonga.
Rating: 4 out of 5 Pippin was visually stunning
by Kokomu on 10/27/14Pantages Theatre - Los AngelesExcellent production. Great Costumes, incredibly talented cast. Loved how well it was choreographed. Only negative is that we could not always understand what was being sung. The whole first song was lost. Also seating was on the far right, so we missed part of the production on the stage due to the curtains. Overall so glad we went. Very enjoyable
Rating: 5 out of 5 Extraordinary Pippin!
by Robo1956 on 10/27/14Pantages Theatre - Los AngelesI saw Pippin on Broadway 15 months ago. It is one of my all time favorite musicals originally coming out when I was in high school. This revival is thrilling. Diane Paulus and the creative staff did an incredible job keeping the original concept of the show and expanding to make it new and exciting. I originally bought my ticket to see Kyle Selig and Lucie Arnaz in the show. They were bumped for the original Broadway stars Matthew James Thomas and Andrea Martin. While I wish I had seen Kyle- I saw him go on as Elder Price in The Book of Morman at the Pantages and he was beyond incredible; if I couldn't see him I was glad to see the original Broadway revival Pippin. It was especially cool to the the first Broadway Pippin from 1972 John Rubinstein who know has a very fun take of the role of Charles. Sasha Allen and the rest of the cast are all excellent. The ensemble of singer/dancers and circus performers is a dream. Matthew has grown in the role and his nuance and subtleties bring even more to the performance. He has it all. Andres Martin stops the show like no one you have seen in years. The singing and dancing are perfection. The acrobatic and circus acts send this high powered show into stratosphere. This is definitely not a show to miss. I have seen some excellent shows at the Pantages (as well as some sub par ones) but this is one of the all time best. I am going back to see it one more time at the Pantages and at another stop on the tour. Matthew and Andrea are not continuing with the tour and they are fabulous. See them before they leave!

by MoeBruin on 10/27/14Pantages Theatre - Los AngelesPippin is one of the most underrated musicals of all time. This productions brings Pippin to anew level thanks to the acrobats adding to the performance. The cast was wonderful.

Rating: 5 out of 5 Funniest thing since Wicked!
by NicknameNotTakenByAnother on 10/27/14Pantages Theatre - Los AngelesPippin was full out made to be entertaining, engaging and hilarious! We sang along with his Grandmother, and gasped at the amazing feats performed by the circus players. A famous cast of comedians plus a fantastic story will capture and hold everyones attention! From three to three hundred, Pippin will leave anyone laughing!
Rating: 4 out of 5 Pippin is a must see!!
by Julskay on 10/27/14Pantages Theatre - Los AngelesWe went to see Pippin at the Pantages and it was excellent!! The entire production was excellent and very well done!! The Grandma is hilarious!! My only critique would be that Pippin's voice was not the best, I think there are probably better singers, but overall that did not stop us from really enjoying a very well done entertaining show. Highly recommend as a must see!!!
Rating: 3 out of 5 Andrea Martin amazing in Act 1 not in Act 2
by XRX47 on 10/27/14Pantages Theatre - Los AngelesLove the singing of Mathew J. Thomas throughout and mostly first act. A. MARTIN on acrobatics and vocals are excellent! Magic elements, cirque style and Fosse moves, sexual feely feel enuendos, all in very colorful HDR ish coreography. The second act was nothing like the first. Very somber, not as colorful, singing slowed down, story needs more creativeNess to make viewers satisfied that truly Pippin has found his goal in life. Didn't see any chemistry with his new family. Boy becomes the new Pippin? Arrgh.

Rating: 5 out of 5 Pippin was breathtakingly beautiful
by gkngc04 on 10/27/14Pantages Theatre - Los AngelesI have seen this play many times. I loved the female lead player and I loved the Circus theme. I have seen this play done the traditional way, Steam Punk and now Circus. It was beautiful as a circus. The actress that played Granny was AMAZING!!! The whole play was esthetically beautiful!
Rating: 2 out of 5 mildly entertaining
by PantagesPatron on 10/27/14Pantages Theatre - Los AngelesIt was ok. The acrobats are good, if that's what you like, but the acting and singing are just average. You can keep the money, I just wish I could get my time back.
Rating: 2 out of 5 Worst Broadway show I've seen - no plot!
by 1000OaksMom on 10/27/14Pantages Theatre - Los AngelesMy daughter and I have seen basically every Broadway show out there -- in NYC, at Pantages, in London, everywhere. We had never seen Pippin and were excited. We were SO disappointed. It was just not good. The actors/ singers/ dancers/ acrobats were amazing. But we left having no idea what the show was about. Two other people sitting next to us, and ANOTHER lady waiting to get her car next to us said the same thing. "What was that supposed to be about?" We are PRETTY SURE that the message of the show is "Don't aim for an extraordinary life, just accept that your ordinary life is good enough, even though it's boring and plain." That's a pretty horrible message, and if that's not the message, then we have no idea what the message was. Because of a lack of clear plot, we really didn't understand what was happening from one moment to the next. Just a bunch of random vignettes marked by circus-type acts and forgettable songs that all kind of sounded similar. I will ACTIVELY DISCOURAGE anyone from spending money on this show in the future.
Rating: 5 out of 5 Pippin was amazing!

Rating: 4 out of 5 Pippin
by veroom on 10/27/14Pantages Theatre - Los AngelesNOT RECOMMENDED FOR THE UNDER AGE. Too many sex references. Singing, acrobat, magic was great. I took my 11 year old, and felt awkward with a few of the scenes. Wish someone would have warned me.
Rating: 5 out of 5 Eye Popping Pippin
by StageDaddy on 10/27/14Pantages Theatre - Los AngelesWe had the best time. I had seen the show with more dance numbers but actually enjoyed the acrobatic performances equally as well. Some really great voices. Go Grandma Go.
Rating: 3 out of 5 Pippin!
by BigMomma5042 on 10/27/14Pantages Theatre - Los AngelesThe performance put on by everyone was amazing, lots of talent on the stage. I felt the story line dragged on a bit longer than necessary though.
Rating: 5 out of 5 Pippen
by revggw on 10/27/14Pantages Theatre - Los AngelesMy wife and I attended opening night Oct. 21. We were in Row X--but had a perfect view of all the action. Sound was great--and I have some hearing loss. I only knew one song--and that drew me to attend. The music was wonderfully done--and the lead actors--and all players were wonderful. I was blown away by the acrobatics performed. What a wonderful, fun, entertaining event. Thank you. Lining up over 20 minutes to use the restroom was a challenge, but there was time available to do so successfully at intermission. We found Panda Parking online only 4 blocks away for $7 also.
Rating: 5 out of 5 Extraordinary Pippin!
by Rudybar on 10/26/14Pantages Theatre - Los AngelesI loved the original production of Pippin, but this one was even greater! The concept of a circus fit so well with Pippin's dream of an extraordinary life. So much entertainment happening on stage: the fantastic Stephen Schwartz music and lyrics, magic, circus acts, world-class acrobatics, and the engaging plot of the search for meaning in life. And the performances! We had the understudy for Leading Player, and I can't imagine how the regular performer could have been any better. Andrea Martin deservedly brought the house down, and what a treat to have John Rubinstein, the original Pippin, playing Charlemagne! And what a beautiful singing voice Matthew James Thomas has. The show was a thrill and a joy from the opening chord to the ever so sweet ending.
