This was a smart, delightful and thoughtful performance. I am amazed that your company is so consistently good and is able to maintain a style and quality sooooooo charctaristic of Pilobolus. At 77 years of age, you make me want to dance after leaving a performance.

Pilobolus still has their groove
by Anonymous on 7/3/11DPAC - Durham Performing Arts Center - DurhamRating: 4 out of 5I've seen Pilobolus 4 times over the last 15 years. Although the dancers change, the creativity and beauty persist. The dancing, lighting, music, athleticism, and symbolism continue to stun me and the other members of the audience. This was a truly memorable performance.
Wonderful evening
by DD4347 on 7/3/11DPAC - Durham Performing Arts Center - DurhamRating: 5 out of 5Pilobolus has set a high bar and the public has a high expectation level when coming to their performances. The core is still the Pilobolus trademark of turning the human body into an art form with athleticism, incredible positions, gracefulness, sensuality and nudity. That's what the public wants to see. The older pieces "Untitled" and "Day Two" were still the best. "All is not Lost" was creative, fun and entertaining. "Korokoro" was good. All in all loved the evening and look forward to future performances. I miss Christopher Whitney but Shawn is a great addition. All the dancers are fantastic and seem to have good chemistry.
Pilobolus was fabulous dance!
by Allysum on 7/3/11DPAC - Durham Performing Arts Center - DurhamRating: 5 out of 5I didn't know exactly what to expect and I love dance, so I was thrilled with the performances as they were not just gymnastics but beautiful dance.
pilobolus
by Lyndice on 7/3/11DPAC - Durham Performing Arts Center - DurhamRating: 5 out of 5FUNtastic! Aside from their power, strength and agility- givens for this troupe- the pieces were each very different from one another, hugely creative (loved the integration of technology- GO MITs ) often sweetly playful. Afterwards the dances and engineers took time to talk to the audience, answering questions with humor, intelligence and humility. Amazing kids, all and hats off again to an unbeatable company.
Pilobolus was Incredible
by smilelle on 7/3/11DPAC - Durham Performing Arts Center - DurhamRating: 5 out of 5Pilobolus was the most amazing event I have attended in 2011. The way the dance group's bodies move in unison and then not so organic and wonderful. Several times I leaned over to my sister and said, "I can't believe it." They are truly sculpture in motion. The energy, strength and wonder of the troupe means I'd go back in a heart beat.
Weird
by clammingontheone on 7/2/11DPAC - DurhamRating: 2 out of 5What I knew about Pilobolus was the shadow stuff I'd see on tv and YouTube. Very cool stuff and was hoping for some of it in the show I just went too. There was none, very disappointing. What they did do was physically VERY impressive and some was interesting, but mostly very odd. Then they would throw in full male nudity and topless girls now and then for some reason. Now I have nothing against it, but it sure didn't add anything to the performance, since it had nothing to do with the piece, they just did it. So you don't know what your going to get when you go to one of these shows, if your hoping for some of the cool shadow stuff they are really known for, you might be very disappointed like we were. In was just too weird for my taste. To each their own.
More shadows wanted!
by Scoobysmom5 on 4/4/11BERGEN PERFORMING ARTS CENTER - EnglewoodRating: 4 out of 5I've seen Pilobolus 3x now. They are just amazing! The choreography plus raw physical talent takes my breath away. One thing that I wish there was more of was their ability to perform amazing sketches using just shadows. That has always been my favorite part! Will definitely see them again,

Poetry in Motion
by Aimeezing on 2/6/11Tilles Center Concert Hall - GreenvaleRating: 4 out of 5As always, Pilobolus was a beautiful performance. Whlie their Shadow dances are always a crowd pleaser, their more moving pieces are mesmerizing.
Not what was expected
by dkimmd on 2/6/11Tilles Center Concert Hall - GreenvaleRating: 2 out of 5The problem with Pilobolus: The show was in 6 acts which all fall into the vague category of "performance art." While these dancers are extremely talented and athletic, the entertainment value FOR ME, just wasn't there. This isn't the type of performance that I enjoy, with one exception: The Transformation - this is the act using shadow lighting - this was actually very entertaining. This was the type of performance that was seen on Conan. Unfortunately, when I researched this show, all I knew about Pilobolus was what is seen on YouTube and Conan. The whole show can't be shadow lighting, I thought, but I couldn't really find any other info. Nothing. So, I got the impression that I would enjoy Pilobolus. Well, for the most part, it was not too enjoyable. One act in 6 just doesn't cut it in my book. Sorry. I'm sure others disagree, but I'm not too into this sort of performance.
Pilobolus
by BPBA on 2/1/11Des Moines Civic Center - Des MoinesRating: 4 out of 5The show itself was very good, however the breaks between pieces slowed down the fun.
Fabulous Pilobolus
by henrideux on 2/1/11Des Moines Civic Center - Des MoinesRating: 5 out of 5We saw Pilobolus 30 years ago and they were good, then saw them in 2011 and they were fabulous, even better than before. Would go again next week if we could.
Pilobolus: one-of-a-kind!
by 2duncan on 5/24/10Bardavon Opera House - PoughkeepsieRating: 5 out of 5Seeing Pilobolus perform live was an honor. I feel lucky to have experienced their dance, theatrical, and acrobatic talents in person. Each segment was mind-blowing by their amazing physical and creative capabilities. Their sensitivity to the wonderful music that accompanied them, mixed in with some humor, was a joy to watch. You must take all the "anti-dance" people in your life to experience this truly unique troupe. They will be in total awe and will definitely leave with a love of this art form.

Had no idea what was going on
by blackiefazz on 5/24/10Bardavon Opera House - PoughkeepsieRating: 3 out of 5The music & dancers were in terrific shape- defying gravity at times. Had no idea when an act was done or it was intermission,As a warning to younger audiences & parents.,the last scene was done topless by the woman. They had on tights, but it wasn't necessary ( IMHO).The venue us terriffic- i just expected more of a "fun" type experience- like when they show their shadow stuff or more commical.I doubt i would go again, unless i could seen their performance schedule.
Disappointed
by TB98 on 5/24/10Bardavon Opera House - PoughkeepsieRating: 3 out of 5Although Pilobous was impressive. The main reason my husband and I bought the tickets was because we saw them on the Oscars doing something we've never seen before. They had a screen up and they danced behind the screen and made their bodies to look like different objects that moved; like cars, dogs, etc. They did not do this at all, which is what they are most famous for doing. So we were very dissapointed.
