About

PETER HOOK AND THE LIGHT IN CONCERT:

Joy Division and New Order bassist Peter Hook carries on the legacy of those legendary bands in 2014 with the Light, thrilling fans with end-to-end performances of seminal albums from their collective discography. Whether tearing through New Order's Power, Corruption, and Lies or ruminating on Joy Division's Unknown Pleasures,  Hook and the Light are never short on energy, sating fans with epic three hour sets of classics like "Age of Consent" and "Love Will Tear Us Apart." The band impressed even the staunchest New Order loyalists on tour in 2013, building excitement for another round of North American dates in 2014.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Born in Manchester, England, Peter Hook formed Joy Division with Bernard Sumner in the late '70s after the two were inspired by the anyone-can-do-it ethos of a Sex Pistols concert they attended. After several epochal post-punk releases, frontman Ian Singer committed suicide, leaving the rest of the band to press on as New Order. With former guitarist/keyboardist Sumner assuming vocal duties under the new moniker, New Order made their album debut in 1981 with Movement, breaking from the gravity of their previous work with buoyant tracks like "Dreams Never End." 1983 follow-up Power, Corruption & Lies really broke the mold, exploring a fusion of rock and early techno that brought them international fame and influenced much of the decade's ensuing music. In 2010, Hook put together the Light, continuing to thrill fans with end-to-end performances of classic albums from the Joy Division/New Order discography.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

" Great night out for Joy Division and New Order fans -- Peter Hook is having a lot of fun and so is the crowd."

"Peter Hook is the man!! He still has not slowed down at his age, three hour show and it was amazing!"

"... I knew that they would be playing two of New Order's albums: Power, Corruption and Lies and Movement, but the big surprise came when they opened up w/ a set from Joy Division, it was so awesome!"

  • Great band at a nice venue

by B-rad on 6/2/25Roxian Theatre - Mc Kees RocksRating: 5 out of 5

Peter Hook and the Light were fantastic. The venue size was perfect. The sound mixing could have been better at times. Vocals were low in the mix at times as well as Peter's bass.

  • Fantastic as always!

by Paul on 6/1/25The Bluestone - ColumbusRating: 5 out of 5

I see Hooky and the band every time he comes through, always a great show. The band were excellent and looked like they were having a great time. Hooky sang more of the New Order songs than I expected and he was great. 5/5, see you again next year!

  • Amazing Night in the Perfect Venue

by Rebecca on 6/1/25The Bluestone - ColumbusRating: 5 out of 5

What better venue than an old church to hear Joy Division?? AND New Order? Yes, please. Peter Hook loves his fans and we love him. The perfect night đŸ–€

  • Amazing!

by Tree on 6/1/25The Bluestone - ColumbusRating: 5 out of 5

Amazing! Legend! Seeing Peter Hook and the Light was a bucket list item for me. I am so glad I got to experience hearing Joy Division and New Order songs live by the distinct bassist of the bands JD and NO. Peter and the band were cohesive and seemed to be enjoying themselves.

  • Boring album cover

by She’s lost control on 5/31/25The Bluestone - ColumbusRating: 4 out of 5

The show is incredibly fantastic after seeing him in Chicago at the Riviera unfortunate first choice of opening material until after the 10 minute break and then things really kicked in to the hook and the light standard we come to expect. Absolutely smashing conclusion with of course love will tear us apart.

  • A remarkable experience

by Andy on 5/31/25The Bluestone - ColumbusRating: 5 out of 5

My son and I saw Hook and the Light in Columbus, OH. You'll never see Joy Division, so this is the closest you'll get. Also played their own songs, and New Order, which were also truly enjoyable. I will see them every time they tour from now on. Days after the event, I am still watching vids from the show. Go see them. Absolutely worth the price of admission.

  • Great show

by Stef on 5/26/25MTELUS - MontrealRating: 5 out of 5

2h40 of their great music. What's more to ask? First half was from a new order album I less like but second half featured the best of Joy Division and New Order.

  • A lot of passion in his blood

by Chuck on 5/25/25MTELUS - MontrealRating: 5 out of 5

Lovely concert with Hooky and his band. All merch was individually signed by him. I really appreciated the time to talk with us.

  • The best

The best show I’ve ever attended, everyone danced the whole night

  • Great show

by RAF on 9/28/24Commodore Ballroom - VancouverRating: 5 out of 5

Peter Hook and the Light put on an incredible show!! My two fav albums, back to back!! He was on point and so electric!!! Such an amazing performance!! I will definitely see him again!!

  • Another epic nite with Hooky!

by JDNO on 9/28/24Hollywood Palladium - HollywoodRating: 5 out of 5

How this guy continues to tour year after year with so much intensity is nothing short of a miracle. It's a testament to his love of the music and fans who's life he's changed forever through his fervent bass guitar. The show was amazing and full of grit as all of his are, he's a true performer unlike seeing New Order live for the past few tours where it's all about the light show, bad re-works of classics, and completely lackluster performances. If you're a true fan of Joy Division and New Order skip seeing New Order and go see Hooky, he's still what it was all about back in the day - the music. He's a complete freak, playing both Substance albums back to back with just a quick break in between! Performers half his age can't hang with him, a proper Salford lad through and through!!!

  • True Faith; True Ceremony

by Chris Chapman on 9/26/24Commodore Ballroom - VancouverRating: 5 out of 5

Hooky and his pals were never content to present the opera in amber. No, sir. They brought the ghosts to life. Perhaps nowhere moreso than through that subsonic bass solo in the middle of Shadowplay. I mean, gah and gush, it was bloody good. There was, for those of alive to structure, something of a dead reckoning at play in this tour. These songs belong to everyone of us now and we can, for a moment, set aside old grief.

  • Amazing performance

by Rich on 9/26/24Hollywood Palladium - HollywoodRating: 5 out of 5

Peter Hook and the Light put on a great show that far exceeded expectations. They played 15 New Order songs and 14 from Joy Division, most from the Substance albums. I was skeptical of Hooky as lead singer going in, but he did a great job on vocals throughout. I enjoyed this show more than the two times I saw New Order, which were both great. Peter paid tribute to his friend Ian Curtis and closed with an awesome performance of “Decades”. It was nearly 3 hours of great music and it still didn’t seem like enough. I was hoping to hear a few more favorites. Peter Hook is truly a legend and his band mates are all great as well.

  • Hooked on Hooky

by SMCSLANG on 9/24/24Hollywood Palladium - HollywoodRating: 5 out of 5

First time at the Hollywood Palladium. Hooky plays a great show wherever he and The Light set up. A few technical issues during the set but still a fantastic experience. General admission standing room is very nice and spacious. Plenty of food and drink areas even though I didn't partake in either. Looking forward to the next experience!

  • Great show on Friday makes for a blue Monday

by Raiderrick on 9/23/24Hollywood Palladium - HollywoodRating: 5 out of 5

  • A "Substantially"good show!

by José on 9/23/24Hollywood Palladium - HollywoodRating: 5 out of 5

A perfect venue to witness a historical set of songs. Beautiful performance by tight group of musicians.

  • Loved it.

by Victor on 9/23/24Hollywood Palladium - HollywoodRating: 5 out of 5

The concert was outstanding, just as expected. Professional performance 👏

  • I love Joy Division

by Martis on 9/23/24Hollywood Palladium - HollywoodRating: 4 out of 5

Peter and his band gave it their all but the sound at the Palladium is pretty bad. I enjoyed every bit of it but wish the speakers/ acoustics would have done some of the best songs ever written and performed some justice! Besides the band I want to give a shout out to Sue in the VIP section, she was so wonderful! She was very helpful, thoughtful and just an all around good person! The Palladium needs to find and hire more people like her, people that care about their job and want to do their best every day. Thank you Sue, you made a special night so much more memorable!

  • Amazing show

by Dazz on 9/23/24Hollywood Palladium - HollywoodRating: 5 out of 5

My first time seeing any members of New Order live, and Mr. Hook did not disappoint. Play the hits with feeling. Great birthday present for my daughter who loved New Order as a little girl.
