  • A favorite of the critics

by DrBo1 on 5/2/12Brooks Atkinson Theatre - New YorkRating: 2 out of 5

If you were not a current fan of Peter Pan you would not have a clue as to what the story line is about. Aside from the scene stealing trunk bit done by "Stash" there is no continuity. A lot of good lines are lost in the confusion and the rush towards coordinated group movement complete with lots of emphatic shouting that adds little. And we are so proud of the minimal set lit by hundreds of computer driven spots. Without props there was no feeling of place. Not a totally successful upgrade from its off Broadway run.

  • Peter and the Starcatcher was fantastic!!!!!!!!!!

by dancergurl4eva on 4/29/12Brooks Atkinson Theatre - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

Peter and the Starcatcher was absolutely amazing. The cast was flawless! Every single person on that stage deserved to be there and were obviously born to be on that stage. Of course I was already excited about seeing Christian Borle, but I must say that he did not steal the show. My eyes were moving at incredible speed and my brain twice as fast so that I could remember each second. The direction was captivating, the props were amazing, and the set was incredible. The crew was amazing and there is absolutely nothing I would complain about. I have been walking around since the moment I saw telling everyone to go see it. It was the best thing I have ever seen.

  • The 'Stache - not to be missed

by K2DC on 4/27/12Brooks Atkinson Theatre - New YorkRating: 4 out of 5

Hi highly recommend this play - especially for those with soft spots for Hook, Peter Pan and/or mermaids. The low-tech approach was fabulous and the talent is great. Not for very small children - I'd say, 8 or 9 and up. Brooks Atkinson is a good size for this show - cozier. The Black 'Stache is one of the funnier charachters I've seen in years!

  • Go see this show!!

by DiBee on 4/26/12Brooks Atkinson Theatre - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

This was probably one of the funniest shows I've seen in a long time. I, as well as the rest of the audience, laughed throughout! The story ultimately tells how Peter Pan came to be Peter Pan. However, the focus was not on Peter, that was only one part of it. The actors portrayed multiple roles and the props used, as well as some of the costume pieces, also had us laughing. If you enjoy shows that use a lot of the "play on words" style, you will definitely enjoy the script. After the show, the cast all signed autographs outside the stage door. They were friendly and interested to hear what we all thought of the show (and received nothing but positive feedback from all of us). I highly recommend this show to anyone looking for a chance to sit back, relax and be entertained! You do not want to miss it!!!!!! Oh, and if any of the cast read this review, you can see that I followed through with my promise to tell as many people as possible to go see it.

I loved it. Christian Borle stole the show. Story telling and staging to make you use your imagination. Something to be said about no over the top theatrics.

  • Absolutely Amazing

  • Star catcher magic

by Panpeter on 4/25/12Brooks Atkinson Theatre - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

This production was not only seamless it carried with it creativity that made one feel as a child just watching it. What the cast and creative team did with a mere rope was incredible. By far the performance that stood out was that o Christian Borle who's command of language and physical presence was mesmerizing. All in all an incredibly magical witty and entertaining show that reminds us all just what storytelling can do. Well done

  • Peter and the Starcatcher

Amateurish but funny. More like a Hasty Pudding show than a Broadway show. Theater to big for this little production. Some actors fabulous.

  • Toto, we are not on Broadway anymore!

by madab on 4/25/12Brooks Atkinson Theatre - New YorkRating: 1 out of 5

Is this the new Broadway!? If so I will have to rethink seeing everything (for the sake of art) and become more selective. This was one of the worst "Broadway" shows I have seen in 30 years! No redeeming qualities!

  • Smart, funny & a real treat to the imagination

by Joseparr on 4/24/12Brooks Atkinson Theatre - New YorkRating: 4 out of 5

A wonderfully imaginative romp through a childhood story that we thought we all knew. Every actor was a player, a prop and an effect. Incredibly well thought and current. A lot of people brought children... It might be too fast for kids to enjoy all the elements.

  • Lots of Laughs

by renrick on 4/24/12Brooks Atkinson Theatre - New YorkRating: 4 out of 5

Had a great time- had to really pay attention to catch every funny laugh !! Wouldn't mind seeing it again- some jokes went right over my 12 year olds head !! Great acting- our favorite was Christian Borle as Black Stache- AMAZING ACTOR but the whole cast was amazing too.

  • Worth it for Christian Borle

by theatermuse on 4/24/12Brooks Atkinson Theatre - New YorkRating: 3 out of 5

Some jokes were funny, some silly and some fell flat. It's a nice show and I agree with the NY TImes that it's worth seeing for Christian Borle's portrayal of Black Stache and for the actor who plays Smee.

  • More for adults than children.

by carynshek on 4/23/12Brooks Atkinson Theatre - New YorkRating: 4 out of 5

Loved the show. Smart dialogue, sophisticated humor. Though there's some music, it's more of a play than a musical.

  • by KatieSmith on 4/23/12Brooks Atkinson Theatre - New YorkRating: 4 out of 5

All I knew about the show was that it was the prequel to Peter Pan. I enjoyed the repartee among the characters. The script was witty. I do not believe this is a show for young children. It is recommended for children 10 and over. I would put the age a bit higher.

  • It was truly enjoyable for kids of all ages!

by KanHit on 4/23/12Brooks Atkinson Theatre - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

It was a creative show with joy and twinkles in every one's eyes.

  • Crafty

by B00TH on 4/23/12Brooks Atkinson Theatre - New YorkRating: 3 out of 5

An origin story for Peter Pan, this play is clever and well concieved. The actors performed energetically. The set design was beautiful and fun to look at. When a character was not a part of a scene, he or she became part of the scenery--acting as doors or part of a wall. Often the script went for the easy slap-stick joke, which might bore some adults...but the little kids in the audience seemed to respond well to it. Plus the slap-stick was balanced by flashes of satisfying wordplay. This light hearted, "PG" play would be ideal for a family with young children...and a safe choice for adults who want to see something upbeat.

  • Seen it 3 times.. still as great as the first!

by Seinfeldlover on 4/23/12Brooks Atkinson Theatre - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

This has become my favorite play.. and I am lover of theater, so that says something. I have made the trek to New York from Boston two years in a row to see this show, and have brought my sister, a couple friends, and my boyfriend along with me. THEY LOVED IT TOO! Not only is the creativity mind blowing, but the energy the actors have is unmatched. I am so thankful that they original actors are still in the show now that it is on Broadway. Christian Borle's character, "The Stash", is hysterical!!! Many times throughout the show, the characters break the fourth wall by speaking directly to the audience, which makes the show seem more intimate. The story, the set, the script, and the actors are phenomenal. I would pay to see this show time and time again. I recommend it to EVERYONE!! :)

  • Loved Peter and the Starcatcher!

by JacksMom2005 on 4/23/12Brooks Atkinson Theatre - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

Absolutely charming!! I thoroughly enjoyed the show as did my two sons (ages 7 & 13). The beginning was a bit confusing for the boys but once the jokes started it was all fun. I mean farts in the face, doesn't get much better than that for a 7 year old! The show was also a ton of fun for me and the adults sitting near us were enjoying it as well. Lots of laughs had by all! Definitely a favorite of ours!

  • Peter was stupendous

by hagdoc on 4/23/12Brooks Atkinson Theatre - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

It's all of our childhood innocence wrapped up in the cynical, snarky adults we've become. And the innocence breaks free! It was fantastic.
