Passion Pit is the Shit.
by krisv on 4/1/10Newport Music Hall - ColumbusRating: 5 out of 5This was my first time seeing Passion Pit live (even though it was their second trip to the Capital City). They played every song from their Manners album, plus a couple from their Chunk of Change EP (Smile Upon Me, I've Got Your Number). Every song played sounded so much better than the album versions. The crowd was emphatically enthusiastic, dancing and moving with the beat, never letting up. PP even covered a Cranberries hit, Dreams; which they played superbly. Two acts opened for PP, BearHands from Brooklyn and Mayor Hawthorne and The County. BearHands was excellent–highly recommend a listen. MH&TC on the other hand, from Detroit, siphoned the Motown jive that is classic to the city, but performed it in a way that I did not enjoy (Next song!). All in all, a great show and definitely grab a ticket next time they're around you.
