About

Ever since the release of their 2008 EP Chunk of Change, Passion Pit’s unique brand of indietronica has appealed to fans of both indie rock and electronic dance music, generating heaps of praise from those bastions of hipster cred otherwise known as music blogs. With the release of sophomore album Gossamer in 2012, the band kept crowds moving with a collection of ambitious and impeccably produced gems like “Take a Walk” and “Constant Conversations,” earning the album a No. 4 position on the Billboard 200. Passion Pit originated as the solo project of frontman Michael Angelakos, who penned the project’s first songs for his girlfriend before enlisting some of his classmates from Berklee College of Music to start a group. The band’s debut full-length Manners (2009) received praise from critics and bloggers for its catchy and danceable songs, including breakthrough single “Sleepyhead” and kaleidoscopic electro hit “The Reeling.” On tour in 2013, Passion Pit has been treating fans to high-octane live performances that perfectly capture the spirit of their sparkling pop anthems.

They sounded just as good as they do on the album if not better! Tons of energy and totally entertaining!

Passion Pit is the greatest band out there! The show was so much FUN! And their music stirs you -- the range of sound, the lyrics, the variety of the songs .... all are AMAZING! If you have not seen them, DO SO NOW!

It was one of the best live bands I've ever seen in my whole life! And I've seen a lot of bands... The lights, the vibe, the sound, everybody singing. UNFORGETTABLE!

Blew away all me expectations having watched some of their live clips on YouTube...much better live performance than anticipated. Just an awesome show from start to finish.

AMAZING SHOW!!! The were great live, so much energy and the crowd was awesome. My only complaint is that I wish it was longer...

  • PASSION PIT

by MusicLoverrrr on 4/16/10The Warfield - San FranciscoRating: 4 out of 5

When they actually came on it was an amazing show! However, there were 2/3 opening bands who managed to set up in less than 10 minutes and once the last opening band was done, we had to wait over half an hour for Passion Pit to come on. Also, be sure to check your ticket prior to the event, there were a lot of people, including myself, who had paid for floor/general admission area, but were given a seating assignment and I had to go through a lot of trouble to get into the floor area. It was also slightly unfortunate that this was an "all-ages" event because there were teenagers just running around and some of them didn't even seem to care that the band was even performing. Those were the only three negative things: waiting quite a while for them to come on,the ticket issue and the children. Still, they do put on awesome show and I encourage anyone who loves them to go see them :)

passion pit is beyond words - every single song just home like you wouldn't believe - every instrument - the lights, strobes, smoke - passion pit is the real deal - more groundbreaking than a stampede of elephants (thanks Nylon ;o)

  • Passion Pit was a magical musical show!

by MariaGab on 4/9/10Beaumont Club - Kansas CityRating: 5 out of 5

It was great! The lights were amazing, and added to the experience. The lead singer really connected with the audience, and I was amazed that his high-pitched and unique voice sounded better live than on their album. In fact, their live performance, in my opinion, in general sounded better than on their album, despite their strong electronic sound.

  • Mayer Hawthorne + Passion Pit - Amazing contrast

by dboden on 4/9/10Beaumont Club - Kansas CityRating: 5 out of 5

The combination of Mayer Hawthorne + Passion Pit was probably one of the best sets that I've seen in a long, long time. The contrast between the two bands, one Motown and the other, well, Passion Pit - linked by amazing falsetto - was an ear party that I won't soon forget.

  • Passion Pit & M.H. Roooocked!

by Lindasayy on 4/9/10Ogden Theatre - DenverRating: 5 out of 5

This show was nothing short of amazing! The crowd was siick and the bands were evn better! The ONLY thing that was a bummer was the standing room (there was none) which wasn't even that bad cuz everyone's energy was amazing. I'd definitelyyyy do it again in s heartbeat!!!

One of THE BEST concerts I've been to all year. They are wonderful live, and I will be sure to see them every time they come back to Denver. It was that great!

  • Passion Pit was incredible live!!

by SSJJMGMT on 4/8/10Ogden Theatre - DenverRating: 5 out of 5

The Passion Pit concert that I went to was so good!! I had doubts, but Passion Pit sounded great live and very close to what their albums sound like. They told a few stories but not too many and they just played song after song almost perfectly. Bear Hands was pretty good too. They started off with a slow song but it got better after that. And Mayer Hawthorne was definitely not for me. The type of music they have is nothing related to Passion Pit or Bear Hands. I'm not sure why they're on tour with them. They were talented but just a horrible genre if you ask me.

Absolutely amazing show. This band is great in studio and ten times better live! The Ogden is a perfect size venue for Passion Pit and the light show made for an unforgettable night. Staff, especially security was helpful friendly and for the first time in my life, added to my enjoyment of the show spraying water into the audience and ensuring that those of us in the front could get water without giving up our prime spots.

Totally amazing show! Passion Pit sounds just as good live as they do in the studio! Cant wait till the next show!

Passion Pit puts on a great show and interacts with the crowd well. I also had a lot of fun with Hawthorne and the County's performance, they're a lot of fun.

Good show, wish they had played longer. The second opener was good too.

  • by Suze12345 on 4/8/10Ogden Theatre - DenverRating: 5 out of 5

The show was undeniably incredible. Although the overall performance was far too short, I never wanted the evening to end, the entire thing from beginning to end was highly enjoyable. I've never felt such an air of utter happiness the day after a show. I wish they were playing tonight, tomorrow and the day after. I look forward to their return to Denver!

Great show, we missed the opener completely and then all but one song of Mayer Hawthorne, both of which i regret not seeing.

  • Passion Pit

    by 1234hle on 4/8/10Ogden Theatre - DenverRating: 1 out of 5

Unfortunately, the show only lasted until 11:15 pm, so Passion Pit was on for a 45 minute set. Possibly the shortest set I've ever seen. Very disappointed they didn't play longer. I also thought it'd be more of a dance show, but their transitions took to long and the crowd wasn't pumped. Overall, disappointing.

  • Pleasantly surprised!

Watching Passion Pit's videos before the show made me a little nervous that the show would be sub par, but they blew us out of the water! The light show was incredible, they were on with everything and Michael Angelakos voice was incredible! It was a really fun show, everything I could have wanted and mroe in a concert! Can't wait to se them at Coachella!
