About
Ever since the release of their 2008 EP Chunk of Change, Passion Pit’s unique brand of indietronica has appealed to fans of both indie rock and electronic dance music, generating heaps of praise from those bastions of hipster cred otherwise known as music blogs. With the release of sophomore album Gossamer in 2012, the band kept crowds moving with a collection of ambitious and impeccably produced gems like “Take a Walk” and “Constant Conversations,” earning the album a No. 4 position on the Billboard 200. Passion Pit originated as the solo project of frontman Michael Angelakos, who penned the project’s first songs for his girlfriend before enlisting some of his classmates from Berklee College of Music to start a group. The band’s debut full-length Manners (2009) received praise from critics and bloggers for its catchy and danceable songs, including breakthrough single “Sleepyhead” and kaleidoscopic electro hit “The Reeling.” On tour in 2013, Passion Pit has been treating fans to high-octane live performances that perfectly capture the spirit of their sparkling pop anthems.

Rocked my face off!
by pprocks on 6/10/10The Tabernacle - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5This was one of the best and highest energy shows I've ever been to (and I've been to a lot of shows)!
Passion PIt at the Tabernacle 6.9.10
by Teebox1 on 6/10/10The Tabernacle - AtlantaRating: 4 out of 5Wednsday night show at the Tebrnacle. 2 opening bands. Gringo Starr was not good. Tokyo Police Club was very good. Passion Pit was full of evergy and it made for a fun show. Too many kids at the show that had no clue how to dance. Consider this before you go....1500 16 year old kids trying to mosh to Passion Pit. Ughh, perhaps they should have stayed in the suburbs with their parents.

I want to go to another Passion Pit show. They were INCREDIBLE. However, I thought that Tokyo Police Club played far too long. I really like Brahms though, it was cool to learn about a new band.
Passion Pit was great
by RyRyCutiePie on 6/9/10The National - RichmondRating: 5 out of 5The concert was great, I just wish there was more Passion Pit playing instead of Tokyo Police Club and Brahms. I PAID to see PASSION PIT. Other than that, Passion Pit is amazing and lots of fun live.
best concert ever
by fridalita on 6/9/10The National - RichmondRating: 5 out of 5the brahms opened first, they were pretty good just not the type of music i'm in to. then tokyo police club played and they were amazing. after passion pit performed. they where so energetic it was amazing. they sounded just like on their cd.

Passion Pit was tight!
by BMTay on 6/9/10The National - RichmondRating: 5 out of 5This was an amazing concert. The second opening band was good. Passion Pit played all my favorites from their two albums, and the sound was perfect. They stopped the show briefly for security to escort out a couple of fighting guys, and made a note that such behavior was not welcome at their shows. It was really great feel-good music.
Passion Pit is incredible
by hansy on 6/9/10The National - RichmondRating: 5 out of 5The two opening bands, Tokyo Police Club and Brahms were both pretty good..but were nowhere near as fantastic as Passion Pit. They were flawless, the lights, the music, all of it was amazing. Basically, the show was like one big dance party.
Passion pit = great, openers = horrible
by Aaargh on 6/9/10The National - RichmondRating: 4 out of 5Although it took Passion Pit a long while to actually get on the stage, they were awesome, and could really get the crowd going. Michael Angelakos' voice was better than I expected it to be live, and the venue (The National in Richmond) was nice as well, very similar to the 9:30 club in D.C. The bad aspects of the night were the two openers. Tokyo Police Club was tolerable, although lackluster. On the other hand, Brahms was absolutely terrible. Give me a week and 2 additional people and I could put on a better show - what they were doing took no skill whatsoever. (The drumming and back beats were computerized, the guitarist played the same chords, the bassist played three notes the entire song, and the lead singer, who was not good, played random notes on a crash cymbal and a tom.) So, once Passion Pit came out, it was great, but the two hours before that were a needless cacophony.

Passion Pit/Tokyo Police Club- Incredible!
by Lynellephant on 6/9/10The National - RichmondRating: 5 out of 5Overall, the event was spectacular! Brahms was really great. An awesome band with a promising future. Tokyo Police Club was wonderful. Their album "Champ" had just been release that day so I wasn't as familiar with their newer stuff. They were fantastic! PASSION PIT was ridiculously superb. It was different from other concerts in the fact that Mike didn't introduce the band members or any of the songs. This added to the style of the music though and kept the crowd pumped. The security was excellent. I was front and center and really appreciate the bouncer who picked up the guitar pick for me!! A really wonderful experience overall!
Passion Pit was amazing
by Sinkler on 6/9/10The National - RichmondRating: 5 out of 5the show was so sweet every part of it was amazing!

by RVAGuy on 6/9/10The National - RichmondRating: 5 out of 5Passion Pit was so much better live than I expected. They had a great energy and kept everybody moving. The light show was great, the venue was great and somewhat comfortable. The sound system was great.
Passion Pit, Tokyo Police Club, Brahms
by crissaaaaaa on 6/8/10The Norva - NorfolkRating: 5 out of 5brahms definitely caught me off guard with there great show! they sound great live and they really just make you want to dance. i'm not a fan of Tokyo Police Club, but I do have to give them their props. they definitly put on a great show:). i wasn't too familiar with their music, so I wasn't too into their set. Passion Pit definitly was the best! the lead singer sounds great live! I had so much fun dancing to the music and the crwod wasn't too wild compared to some show's I've been to. they really know how to work the crowd. as long as you know more than just the song "sleepyhead", you'll definitely enjoy the show!
Passion Pit
by KathleenTaylor on 6/8/10The Norva - NorfolkRating: 5 out of 5Passion Pit was amazing, great live. The Crowd was awesome and the atmosphere was great. Would go a thousand times more if I had the chance.
Passion Pit at Norva
by k3npachi on 6/8/10The Norva - NorfolkRating: 5 out of 5I've been trying to see Tokyo Police Club for years, and they definitely did not disappoint. The entire group has so much enthusiasm, it's infectious. And when Passion Pit started playing, it was just like being in a college movie - the entire venue became the most awesome dance party ever.

Brahm's was pretty good. It would have been nice to hear some more of the guitar, lots of keyboard. TPC was great. Sounded fantastic live. The review would have been 4 stars but we had to head home early and due to set up for Passion Pit taking about 40 minutes, we only got to stay for about 4 songs. Passion Pit was GREAT!!! just wish we could have caught more of their set.
