About

Ever since the release of their 2008 EP Chunk of Change, Passion Pit’s unique brand of indietronica has appealed to fans of both indie rock and electronic dance music, generating heaps of praise from those bastions of hipster cred otherwise known as music blogs. With the release of sophomore album Gossamer in 2012, the band kept crowds moving with a collection of ambitious and impeccably produced gems like “Take a Walk” and “Constant Conversations,” earning the album a No. 4 position on the Billboard 200. Passion Pit originated as the solo project of frontman Michael Angelakos, who penned the project’s first songs for his girlfriend before enlisting some of his classmates from Berklee College of Music to start a group. The band’s debut full-length Manners (2009) received praise from critics and bloggers for its catchy and danceable songs, including breakthrough single “Sleepyhead” and kaleidoscopic electro hit “The Reeling.” On tour in 2013, Passion Pit has been treating fans to high-octane live performances that perfectly capture the spirit of their sparkling pop anthems.

  • Awesome line up!

by Katydidwhat on 11/12/13MIDFLORIDA Credit Union Amphitheatre at the FL State Fairgrounds - TampaRating: 4 out of 5

Very well organized event. Loved fitz and the tantrums and Matt and Kim. Two door and passion pit were great as well. Would recommend a wider food truck selection and more than one craft beer tent. Also odd they didn't get temp zoning for alcohol at second stage.

  • Disappointed

by yipQ on 11/12/13MIDFLORIDA Credit Union Amphitheatre at the FL State Fairgrounds - TampaRating: 2 out of 5

I went to The Next Big Thing a couple years ago at the same venue and had a fantastic time. There were unfortunately several problems with the Coastline Festival: 1. Biggest Issue!! The second stage was REALLY far away from the main stage and you had to go through security in and out to get there, and they wouldn't let you take your drink with you. Therefore, I didn't get to hear the bands at the second stage, and I think they may have actually been the best bands there. (St. Lucia sounded awesome as I was arriving. I heard a little of Neighborhood and they sounded great too.) 2. The food truck lines were WAY too long and by the time you got up there, they were out of food. 3. The sound just wasn't quite right at the main stage. The vocals didn't come out clearly-not as clear as they did at the second stage. Any WHY did the guy who paid LESS than me get to go to the main floor and dance, and VIPs did not????

  • Passion Pit: Energy, Blinky, & Poorly Mixed,

by leSahra on 11/12/13Fox Theater - Oakland - OaklandRating: 4 out of 5

Passion Pit, as a band, played very well. The lead singer's entire pink shirt turned a sweatier shade of pink by the end of the performance. Their good performance is what made me give this show 4 stars instead of 3. Bad things: The music was very poorly mixed. I couldn't hear the singer's voice over the drums & keyboard. I was on the balcony, but I talked to a friend down on the floor, and she said the same thing. It was disappointing not to be able to hear the melodies of the songs. I often couldn't tell what song was happening until the audience started singing along. The lights were horribly bright. I had to cover my eyes for some of the performance. If you're going to flash lights into the audience's eyes, make it red or green or something, not the full white spektrum. Gave me a headache.

  • Super fun!!!

Weather was perfect! Bands were fantastic! Beer was great! Need more food trucks next time and the ability to drink beer at both stages.

It was AMAZE!! Everyone sounded amazing and were as energetic as the crowd! Not gonna lie, I did shed a few tears but that's besides the point! Absolutely wonderful and it was quite the experience, one that I will never forget!

Passion Pit was very energetic and they sounded just like their album. It was so much fun and we had a GREAT time.

  • Great show(s) at a great venue

by irobot73 on 11/11/13St Augustine Amphitheatre - St AugustineRating: 4 out of 5

Must say, though I enjoy Passion Pit, I liked Two Door Cinema Club better. Don't think it was the set list, I think more it was the sound setup (almost NO vocals vs. band). Still, cannot complain as every seat was damn near perfect for the show.

  • Passion Pit and Two Door Cinema Club killed it!!

Best concert I've ever been too. That is all that needs to be said.

  • Amazing Show!

by liznix on 11/11/13St Augustine Amphitheatre - St AugustineRating: 5 out of 5

From the beginning to the end, what an amazing show! The opening act, St. Lucia was outstanding! So much fun! It's a shame that people were still slowly trickling in while they were playing. All the late-comers missed a great performance. The Joy Formidable was okay. Two Door Cinema Club was great and Passion Pit was fantastic! It was the second time tat I had seen them and they were even better this time! They played everything and kept the energy rolling the whole time.

  • Follow the Passion

I'm obsessed with Two Door Cinema Club and Passion Pit. Both were excellent, the venue was awesome, such great energy and a low key type setting. All the workers were very cool.... The merch table moved quickly and lines were not horrible. Love it. Loved it. Peace.

  • All around amazing night

by Eitac on 11/11/13St Augustine Amphitheatre - St AugustineRating: 5 out of 5

The arena was well organized, full of security, and clean. The bands didnt seem to have any problems getting on and off stage and everything went smoothly. The bands; Passion Pit, Two Door Cinema Club, The Joy Formidable, and St. Lucia were AMAZING. All put on great shows but my sisters and I all agreed that Two Door Cinema Club were the best. I will definitely be seeing these bands again, and will certainly look for a show at the St. Augustine Ampitheater in the future! <3

  • AMAZING.

Incredible concert. Takes me back to the concert every time I listen to their albums. So glad I saw them live- so much energy and even after the show was supposed to be over they came back for one more song. AMAZING.

  • Passion Pit - endless energy

by GingerBrandon on 11/7/13Echostage - WashingtonRating: 5 out of 5

You cannot miss Passion Pit. The energy of the singer is unreal! And the crowd loves to dance it up. He also played an equal amount of new music and older, which is exactly what I wanted as the newer album isn't my favorite.

  • Magical.

by StephBT on 11/7/13The Norva - NorfolkRating: 5 out of 5

It was an amazing show. The guys were so into it. The music was on point and they were all so interactive with the crowd. It really got everybody going. I've been to a lot of shows, but the Norva is probably my favorite venue. So intimate!
