About

Ever since the release of their 2008 EP Chunk of Change, Passion Pit’s unique brand of indietronica has appealed to fans of both indie rock and electronic dance music, generating heaps of praise from those bastions of hipster cred otherwise known as music blogs. With the release of sophomore album Gossamer in 2012, the band kept crowds moving with a collection of ambitious and impeccably produced gems like “Take a Walk” and “Constant Conversations,” earning the album a No. 4 position on the Billboard 200. Passion Pit originated as the solo project of frontman Michael Angelakos, who penned the project’s first songs for his girlfriend before enlisting some of his classmates from Berklee College of Music to start a group. The band’s debut full-length Manners (2009) received praise from critics and bloggers for its catchy and danceable songs, including breakthrough single “Sleepyhead” and kaleidoscopic electro hit “The Reeling.” On tour in 2013, Passion Pit has been treating fans to high-octane live performances that perfectly capture the spirit of their sparkling pop anthems.

  • A lightning bolt of pure energy

by Dcseven on 6/13/10The Tabernacle - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

This was the most energetic and enjoyable concert I have ever been to. The selection of music was thoroughly fun, thoughtful, catchy, and musically innovative. Despite Passion Pit's limited selection, ever single track was impressive, and engaged the entire audience. Their stage presence both knocked me on my feet and put me up on my toes, hands in the air. Clearly, this young band's passion for music has not been tainted by its success. As for the venue, the Tabernacle's floor section is hot, sticky, and very personal, making the meaning of the band's name abundantly clear. The opening acts were also good, although the first opening act (I can't remember their name) was fairly weak. Tokyo Police Club, the second, was excellent.

  • best show ever

by SliceOKimbo on 6/13/10Firestone Live - OrlandoRating: 5 out of 5

I had so much fun that I didn't even care that it was insanely hot, crowded and the drinks were overpriced. It was seriously the best show ever, and I've got at least 150 shows under my belt. Passion Pit is such an incredible act. The show was intense, electrifying, and when they played Cranberries "Dreams" as part of the encore, I felt I could die happy.

  • passion pit was epic

  • Passion Pit brought the noise

    by CelticPride30014 on 6/13/10Firestone Live - OrlandoRating: 4 out of 5

This was a great show. Tokyo Police Club warmed up the crowd for a great set from Passion Pit including multiple encores. The sound was clean and the venue was wide open and remarkable. First time seeing Passion Pit as the main event and they followed through as promised.

  • Awesome show, amazing group!

by Anonymous on 6/13/10Firestone Live - OrlandoRating: 5 out of 5

I had a lot of fun. The only complaint I had is that it was a sold out show so it was extremely packed and extremely hot inside the club. Club Firestone has a cool set up which was a plus because we watched them from the balcony. I can only imagine how hot it would've been on the 1st floor. They definitely rocked the crowd out! Everyone was dancing and singing, jumping up and down. It definitely a cool show.

by ThatKidNamedSosa on 6/13/10Firestone Live - OrlandoRating: 5 out of 5

Even though it took them a while for them to start playing it was worth the wait.

  • Passion Pit is awesome live!

by Anonymous on 6/13/10Firestone Live - OrlandoRating: 5 out of 5

The concert was amazing because of Passion Pit, but the venue was wayyyyyyyyy to small! I would not go back to Firestone if the event is sold out!

  • Passion Pit = Hot Pockets!

by ClaudeWaldo on 6/13/10Firestone Live - OrlandoRating: 5 out of 5

Passion Pit have an A-game and they brought it to Orlando. Pitch-perfect is probably the best way to describe the performance last night at the Club at Firestone Live. Seeing many shows at the venue, I can attest that this was the most energetic crowd I have ever seen...and the most well behaved (which says a lot about the fan base for Passion Pit). This was also the most tightly-packed I have ever experienced this venue with sweaty throngs of people singing along to every song. The show's standout moment came during the encore when lead singer Michael Angelakos belted an eerily perfect cover of The Cranberries "Dreams" and then closed the show with the crowd pleasing "Sleepyhead." My only real complaint about the show was apparent lack of air conditioning. I've seen their performance one time before this and it was at Coachella...in the desert, and this was by far hotter and more humid than that. Florida + No Air Conditioning + Summer + Sell Out Crowd - does not make for great conditions. Despite all the skinny jeans sear-sucked to the sweaty masses, Passion Pit made an honest to goodness rock spectacle come to life for this hard-to-impress theme park village.

  • Passion Pit has talent.

    by up2night78 on 6/12/10The Fillmore Charlotte - CharlotteRating: 5 out of 5

The show was great. The light show was amazing.....Fan Interaction was a positive.....Our annoying crowd was into the World Cup, and kept yelling USA, like some stupid frat. The lead singer toldem their crew was from England...I LOVED IT.

  • I still feel like dancing.

by Anonymous on 6/12/10The Fillmore Charlotte - CharlotteRating: 5 out of 5

Passion Pit absolutely killed it. One might think that will of the synthesized sounds they may not sound as good live but they actually almost sounded better. Michael was amazing and he played the crowd and chatted it up and at one point went into the audience to have a conversation with a girl because he couldn't hear her on stage. The warm up band named "Brahms" was great and had a very unique sound. They were really into the music which made their performance even better. This being Brahms first tour, they were amazing as well. If you want to have a good time whatsoever go and see this band. The vibe is just so great with these guys, and after the show I talked to them and found out they were really cool on, and off stage.

  • a show you don't want to miss.

by Anonymous on 6/12/10Tabernacle. - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

I'll admit I was worried to hear Passion Pit live. With all the crazy high notes and electric beats, I wasn't sure how great it would be live. It was phenomenal. Everything sounded exactly the same. Everyone had a great time. The crowd was jumping, dancing, and singing. The lights on stage were going crazy. And Michael kept commenting on how great of a crowd we were. He played every song we wanted to, minus Cuddle Fuddle which he had earlier explained why. I would go see them again without a doubt.

  • AMAZING- Done and Done!

    by candyapple1436 on 6/12/10The Fillmore Charlotte - CharlotteRating: 5 out of 5

This show was absolutely fan-freaking-tastic! These guys are so much fun and totally rocked it out! The venue was somewhat smaller so it felt much more intimate. The audience was totally into it and were singing and dancing the entire time! Overall it was an unforgettable evening! I would highly recommend seeing this band live, they really will blow your mind!

  • Not enthused

by GirlofCharades on 6/11/10The Norva - NorfolkRating: 2 out of 5

I've been to many shows at the Norva over the past five years or so; usually I find each one pretty enjoyable. However, I was disappointed from the moment I walked in. The staff at the entrance were unfriendly, the concert-goers were rude and uncontrolled (I actually saw three people smoking in the middle of the pit). The performers themselves were unenthusiastic, but I can only blame the crowd for that. Passion Pit sounded great, but it didn't seem like they wanted to be there. In the future, I think I would rather attend shows that are 21 and up to avoid some of the problems caused by the crowd.
