About

Ever since the release of their 2008 EP Chunk of Change, Passion Pit’s unique brand of indietronica has appealed to fans of both indie rock and electronic dance music, generating heaps of praise from those bastions of hipster cred otherwise known as music blogs. With the release of sophomore album Gossamer in 2012, the band kept crowds moving with a collection of ambitious and impeccably produced gems like “Take a Walk” and “Constant Conversations,” earning the album a No. 4 position on the Billboard 200. Passion Pit originated as the solo project of frontman Michael Angelakos, who penned the project’s first songs for his girlfriend before enlisting some of his classmates from Berklee College of Music to start a group. The band’s debut full-length Manners (2009) received praise from critics and bloggers for its catchy and danceable songs, including breakthrough single “Sleepyhead” and kaleidoscopic electro hit “The Reeling.” On tour in 2013, Passion Pit has been treating fans to high-octane live performances that perfectly capture the spirit of their sparkling pop anthems.

  • Fair at best

by Ignis on 3/2/131st Bank Center - BroomfieldRating: 2 out of 5

I saw Passion Pit last night at the 1st Bank Center in Broomfield Colorado. The Band doesn't seem to know how to achieve the same clean sound live as in the studio. They need to hire a Sound Engineer that knows how to handle the bass and clean up their sound. The sound was jumbled and garbled. Passion Pit played for 1 hour, that's it. It was disappointing. The show itself was unimpressive, like they were thinking about the clock. The show didn't flow, they would play one 3 minute song and then stop, then another and stop, then uninspired banter like, 'Denver you f***ing rock!' Pretty lame.

Mat & Kim, sound was a bit off, and the tunes were ok, but they put on a great show. Passion Pit, great music but their show a bit subdued

  • matt and kim were dynomite !!

by stlell on 3/1/13Peabody Opera House - St. LouisRating: 4 out of 5

The first band, iconic pop, was cool. The second band, matt and kim, were incredible. They stole the show. Passion pit was ok, but matt and kim should be the headliner. I'll check out matt and kim anytime they come to st. Louis.

  • PASSION PIT!! :)

by Anonymous on 3/1/13State Theatre - PortlandRating: 4 out of 5

I was expecting it to be the same as the Passion Pit during the summer of 2012, but this was even better. The two starting bands were amazing too! The only think I'd say is that it went veryyy long and I was not expecting it to go for such a long time. Other than that, it was AWESOME and I would definitely recommend it to anyone thinking about going!

  • Amazing!

  • super fun!

Overall this concert was really cool. I forgot the name of the first openers, but it was two girls that sang and dj'd. They were really fun and got into their performance. They did great.Matt & Kim had THE best stage presence. They interacted with the crowd so much. They danced. They made you feel their energy. They were amazing. However, Passion Pits sound was phenomenal. They sounded great. The thing I didnt like was how they did not seem as excited to be there. They just were there to play and thats it and they didnt intereact with the crowd really. They just would say ""St. Louissss!" right before their breakdown. Passion Pit was still really cool live. In my oppinion their music live is much more exciting and you can feel it make you want to dance. I loved the concert overall though.

  • Passion Pit was amazing, of course!

by Lauren789B on 2/28/13Peabody Opera House - St. LouisRating: 5 out of 5

I was dancing on the way in to on my way out of theater! I was so happy to finally see one of my favorite bands in St. Louis! I missed them last time they came becuse they sold out before I could get to them. I loved the venue, the Peabody opera house was beautiful. I just wished they had an actual floor to dance, although I did have plenty of space at my seat. I was a little disappointed that I didn't hear more of the older songs but I should have expected the new album more.

This show was incredible! All three performances had such a high energy level and engaged the audience 110%.

  • Darn Snow! I gave my tight seats to the Merch guys

by PriceisRight on 2/28/13Peabody Opera House - St. LouisRating: 3 out of 5

I live in Columbia, MO (originally from STL) I saw them MOnday, the night before and had planned to see them two nights in a row. I was pretty pumped about The Point having a bday bash becuase I still miss my favorite station. Well here comes THUNDERSNOW to ruin my hopes and dreams!! Knowing I wouldnt make it to the show I had been anxiously awaiting for months... at t the show on Monday I gave my sweet tickets to the guys selling Merch and told them to give them to someone in STL. I hope they did!. Being that I did see Passion Pit the nght before I can say that it was AWESOME. I am sad that I missed the venue. I will do my best to make it to the Peabody next time. IT is ALL GOOD, paying it forward i guess :) Thanks!

Passion Pit music was perfect. They need to talk to the crowd more in between their music. Great music.

  • Passion Pit was fantastic live

I saw Passion Pit three years ago at Millennium Park in Chicago Illinois. Loved them then and love them more now after seeing this show. Their music is amazing and the live performance was outstanding.

Unfortunately because of the blizzard, unable to go

  • Icona Pop, Matt and Kim, and Passion Pit... AMAZIN

    by RK12 on 2/25/13Orpheum Theater - MadisonRating: 5 out of 5

We arrived 2 hours before the concert to get right up in front of the stage and we got a fairly good spot. All the acts were outstanding there is really no other way to describe it. Icona Pop is better live than through studio album. Passion Pit didn't reach the high vocals as they do in the studio album but that is a given for live shows.

  • Passion Pit and Matt and Kim TOOK OVER MADISON

Passion Pit was great but Matt & Kim never disappoint, They definitely amp up the crowd. Probably the best act of the night.

Very fun concert, venue allowed us to go quickly through the line even though it was long

  • by s1imypete on 2/25/13Orpheum Theater - MadisonRating: 5 out of 5

Great show. Matt and Kim really got into it at Passion Pit's hits were fun to jump around to. Drugs Recommended For Show: Alcohol, Marijuana I would skip out on the molly and e and save it for animal collective

  • Killed it.

by JocelynD on 2/25/13UIC Pavilion - ChicagoRating: 4 out of 5

Matt & Kim were the highlight to my night. Such great perfomers, that I wish they would have played a longer set. Passion Pit was amazing as well... with the encore my favorite. I also thought the interactive set was really cool! Great show!

  • by Anonymous on 2/25/13Orpheum Theater - MadisonRating: 5 out of 5

Iconapop, Matt & Kim, and Passion Pit all impressed. They had great sounds, a fun atmosphere, and fantastic special effects. Great show, I'd recommend it (and the venue) to anyone.

Mat and Kim were soooo much fun! Passion Pit put on a fantastic performance! Loved the venue, great sound system, great everything! Only bad thing was the tight space in between seat rows.
