Cirque du Soleil: OVO on Tour
Talk about creating a buzz. Touring circus company Cirque du Soleil's OVO offers a nonstop, life-affirming, two-hour tribute to the infinitely diverse world of insects. This sensual, acrobatically dazzling show premiered in 2009 as the Montreal-based circus company's 25th production since 1984. The cast for its premiere included 54 performing artists from 16 different countries. Created and directed by Deborah Colker, OVO (Portuguese for "egg") contemplates insects in all their beauty, action and curiosity. Brazilian composer Berna Ceppas transforms their flight, leaps, creeping and crawling into a samba-influenced choreographic spectacle augmented by the constant flutter and hum of real insect sounds.
With well over a thousand performances to date, OVO long ago took flight as one of the Cirque's most popular and rewarding extravaganzas. As Albany, New York's Times Union said of OVO in 2020, "In our digital age, it's reassuring to remember that non-simulated, filter-free entertainment still has the power to dazzle and transport us."
What is Cirque du Soleil: OVO?
Upon its Montreal debut in 2009, OVO became Cirque du Soleil's most audacious and virtuosic new-circus show to date. A trio of principal characters — Master Flipo, Foreigner and Ladybug — keeps this arena spectacular in constant motion, as awestruck insects become intensely interested in a mysterious egg's sudden appearance. OVO teems with life, and Cirque du Soleil's talented cast mirrors the insect world's natural abilities to fly, balance and leap with a lifetime of practice and precision.
During one of the company's largest flying acts, 10 scarab beetles on three platforms toss a single beetle back and forth. A colorfully costumed dragonfly flits about, red ants juggle chunks of kiwi and corncobs with their feet, and butterflies cling gracefully to one another as they float through the air. For OVO's grand finale, the large span used for brilliant lighting effects transforms into a two-story climbing wall onto which trampoline-powered crickets are hurled as though onto a vertical stage. Cockroaches, grasshoppers and other insects serve as supporting characters throughout the evening's dozen acrobatic tours de force.

After having experienced several Cirque shows over the years, OVO left a lot to be desired. The performers are very talented, however this shows story line was not clear and frankly, I found it boring. It just seemed like they just threw together a show with acrobatics used in previous ones.
This Cirque du Soleil's "OVO"is a touring circus production. It features high-level acrobats, dancers, and musicians, and incorporates elements of Brazilian culture. "OVO"is known for its vibrant costumes, set design, and music. The 3 cowns were amazing and fantastic interacting with the audience. It inspired the world of insects, the show focuses on movement and the interconnectedness of life within a hidden ecosystem. "OVO"includes a variety of acrobatic and artistic acts, such as foot juggling by the "ants,"a slackwire act, and a hand balancing number by the "dragonfly". The show is known for its colorful costumes, vibrant set design, and lively Brazilian-inspired music that keep up moving during the event. DON'T MISS IT, BUY YOUR TICKETS NOW.

Absolutely loved Cirque du Soleil OVO! Such a fun, family-friendly show. Highly recommend it and I can’t wait to see more Cirque du Soleil performances, hopefully more come to Miami!
From the acrobatics to the atmosphere. It was an incredible night enjoying Ovo!
I'm a huge CDS fan, but I believe this one was not up to par with all the previous ones I've seen.
The main performances/performers were very good. However, the in between fillers/acts were a little silly and childish.
Colorful, funny, amazing, suspenseful. Only good things to say. Our whole party loved it. SO, why only 4 stars? I have seen many Cirque shows in Las Vegas, and there are things they do in dedicated theaters built for a specific show (such as "O"and "Love") that they can't do in a venue that is normally a basketball arena. If Ovo is coming to your city, go see it. If you're going to Las Vegas, go to a Cirque show there. It will almost certainly become your favorite.
Circus Soleil was amazing! The setting was horrible by the stage we were up against each other. There were 7 rolls at the same level so it made it hard to watch the show because we had to look around people's heads. For what we paid to watch the show I'm not happy with the setting.

Love the experience, amazing shows with my son, is the best circus in the world. Cirque du Soleil
I’ve been a long time fan of cirque du soleil. I’ve gone to about 20 shows. I’m use to every single person performing amazing feats. It was very apparent the main lead with the butterfly wings was a diversity hire who had no talent. For the price of the tickets I expected more. Instead we saw an overweight person in clothes 7 times too small walking around the stage. Very disappointing. I expect the next show to be more amazing
The show was absolutely outstanding—captivating from start to finish! It was highly entertaining, and our kids (ages 9 and 10) loved every moment. The live music was exceptional and added so much energy to the performances. My only suggestion for the director would be to shorten the love story section (between the ladybug and the green character) and replace it with another act that highlights the incredible live music, perhaps with the spotlight on both the musicians and the performers together. Overall, it’s a MUST-SEE production!
I have been to several Cirques and this was one of my favorites! We took a large group and everyone loved the show! Overall so much fun! Very good flow and kept our interest! Highly recommend! Visually stunning costumes and overall performance was fascinating!
I loved the shole show but specially the second part
The seats needed to be changed two of our seats the springs were worn out and we put out coats over it so we weren't sitting on them.
5th Cirque Du Soleil show we have been to and all are just incredible. OVO was just as amazing as the others. We have already bought tickets to our next show in a few months.
Following the silent movement of a love story between two different types of species. It was magical how the bugs interact with each other. Totally Amazing
The performance was wonderful and the individual performers were very talented.
