A thrilling interpretation of the well-known classic poem "A Visit from Saint Nicholas", this joyful show about the virtues of generosity and friendship promises to leave a lasting impression on families this holiday season. 'Twas the Night Before..., Cirque du Soleil's first-ever holiday production, is a whirlwind of love, holiday cheer, riotous fun, and adorably endearing characters that will establish a new tradition for families to treasure.
Not a Cirque du Soleil standard. We saw a lot of mistakes, and the performance was not exciting. The theme was confusing for kids.
First, we love Cirque du Soleil! I have seen no fewer than seven different Cirque du Soleil shows, including O and Ka at their resident locations - phenomenal! Unfortunately, 'Twas the Night Before... was disappointing. This was not just because it was more of a family oriented show, but other factors affected the perceived quality and entertainment and awe that has been associated with all the other Cirque shows experienced. It may also have been the venue at The Met in Philadelphia where the sound was mixed, but for the most part, it was too loud and blared from the overhead speaker at our box seats - additionally it was pre-recorded and not interesting. The stage at The Met was limiting and the show seemed very simplified in its acrobatics and aerial performances as a result. In addition, the primary dancers dressed in tops, shorts, and tights did a Tik Tok type of dance which was performed well, but seemed redundant and simplistic, as well. Again, the performers and actors were very well-executed, but the content and venue was disappointing. We will certainly see other Cirque du Soleil performances, but not those that are similar to 'Twas the Night Before ... that are touted as family-oriented and are not performed under a big top location that allows for more elaborate and extensive aerobatics and gymnastics and dance. Thank you for soliciting this review and we hope to see Cirque du Soleil nearby soon.
This is not your typical Cirque de soliel performance. The acts were not nearly as high level as many I have experienced. There was a lot of dancing which was very nicely correographed and music was great. Be prepared to park on the street and take steps if you are in the balcony.
This particular Cirque show really exceeded my/our expectations. The story line was wonderful and I particularly liked the concept of drawing the little girl away from technology while showing her something much more significant and meaningful than spending time on her device. I gifted a ticket to our 10-year old granddaughter for Christmas and she was over the moon with this performance. To say she was in awe and was mesmerized...as was I....would be understating how we both felt. The music was paticularly exciting and it really made its way into us and made us want to move to the beat. The special effects were extraordinary....we just loved the "snow"falling. The costumes were magnificent and the performances were Olympic gold in our minds. There were so many "favourite"characters but the ones who stood out the most in our minds....and in our HEARTS....were the reindeer at the end of the show. We fell in love with them. They were worthy of an Oscar for the Best Actors in a performance of humans mimicking animals! We both wished that we could have watched the show a second time....and even a third time. It definitely warmed our hearts and was a wonderful respite from the crazy world we live in right now. Kudos to Cirque for outdoing themselves. And Kudos to them for putting some magic back into the Holiday Season. We just LOVE Cirque....but then again who doesn't? If readers of this review ever have an opportunity to see this particular show they need to buy the best tickets they can get their hands on and sit back for a couple of hours of Christmas wonder. They would never be disappointed.
Unbelievable acrobatics and dazzling performances . Colorful, exciting, ever changing. Never fails to delight and amaze.
Such talent! Can't wait to see another performance.
It was beautiful! Great show. Iâm happy we went. Our 7 year old looooved it!
They were talented, entertaining, festive, creative, joyful and playful! It is a wonderful time for the entire family!! You'll find yourself humming the theme song for days after the show... it is a must-see for the holidays !! Best. Show. For. Winter... Ever!!
We loved âTwas the Night! The acts were great. The adaptation of the classic story was interesting. The interaction with the audience was refreshing and fun. Money well spent.
What a beautiful show! Magical, energetic and so filled with talent. The performers make everything seem easy and seamless yet the difficulty is real. It was just the right amount of "Christmas"in the show.
