    Phoenix stole the show

by KatieHB on 8/16/10Golden Gate Park Outside Lands Festival - San Francisco

The 2010 Outside Lands was unforgettable! The acts were great and represented many different genres. Come on, Al Green, Nas and Damien Marley, Kings of Leon and a little bit of Grateful Dead? That's a lot of variety! I was impressed by every act I saw and found a lot of new bands that I really liked. I couldn't wait to get home to download Phoenix. They really stole the show from Kings of Leon. The venue was also awesome. The stages and booths were great and the refillable water program was so convenient. If you brought a reusable water bottle, they would fill it up for $1. Or, if you bought the Outside Lands reusable bottle you got free refills. All in all, a great festival and I can't wait until next year.

Great lineup, great performances. Only downside is that the 2 main stages were very far apart. Also had to walk an extra 45 min to the other side of the park to get to the box office. It was totally worth it though! Definitely going again next year.

    Nice day of music

by Mjolnir on 8/16/10Golden Gate Park Outside Lands Festival - San Francisco

Relatively chill atmosphere (for most of the day at least), where people just wandered from stage to stage to see their favorite bands. Not the best line-up ever, in my opinion, but there was still something to appeal to just about anyone who has any musical range, and those who came early might have gotten to discover something new and exciting.

changes need to be made, but still fun

by pbuds on 8/16/10Golden Gate Park Outside Lands Festival - San Francisco

Things I would change: 2 day ticket - if you lose it, there should be a way of retrieving a new ticket, or just a new printable barcode. I luckily had my returned to me... but many did not Spacing of bands - make it so we can see all the headliners without having to run and be trampled to the other side of the field Have cocktails served on site.

VIP Viewing Area....Not so VIP..Kings of Leon GR8

by MagicalMaiden on 8/16/10Golden Gate Park Outside Lands Festival - San Francisco

I am a long time Kings of Leon fan and was encouraged by friends to spend the $225 to obtain VIP ticket, viewing section, concession stands and perks. The viewing was actually "worse" than if I had camped out for hours at the center barrier for GA general admission seats. I would have been in the pit section. The VIP viewing was sectioned off on the side and "center stage" sight was obscured. On the upside the bathrooms for VIP were very nice, but not worth the additional $175 I spent with tax and service charge, not including being pillaged for "one" $8 beer. Next time I will definitely go, but will be doing it the old fashioned way, joining the general admission crowd GLADLY! The opening band Phoenix (French) were magical. The Kings were amazing as usual playing 1 cover and four new songs . Thank God for the BIG SCREENS!

    Awesome

by Peaches68 on 8/16/10Golden Gate Park Outside Lands Festival - San Francisco

Great show on Sunday! The lineup was really sick and had a tough time deciding between Kings of Leon and Empire of the Sun. I didnt buy a ticket for Saturday as the lineup was not as half as good as Sundays!

    Outside Lands is a Go!

by PowerC on 8/16/10Golden Gate Park Outside Lands Festival - San Francisco

Outside Lands has always been a great time. I have enjoyed every moment. I love the bands that I know, and love hearing new bands playing great music. I always suggest that my friends and colleagues should attend, and I will continue doing that. Thanks for another great year.

Empire of the Sun was really outstanding, the only negative I have is that a lot of really good acts had pretty short sets. It was overall a great venue, getting food and drinks was also really easy.

    Further was awesome

by aprilius on 8/16/10Golden Gate Park Outside Lands Festival - San Francisco

The bands were awesome. Further played a smokin set for two hours straight. Tokyo Police Club was also memorable. That being said, charging for water refills, and not having water available after 9:15 was unconscionable. They said they couldn't sell water, I finally begged someone to help me on the grounds that it was a medical issue. Thanks big time to Rock Med. There was a really long walk to the Porta Potties. Parking was rediculously expensive.

    Outsidelands ROCKED (Inside Out!)

by 12321Sandy12321 on 8/16/10Golden Gate Park Outside Lands Festival - San Francisco

Basically the music was awesome! I got to see sooooo many bands I loved and was able to get close to the stage. So fun! The only thing that really bugged me was all the smoking and drinking that went on, because i HATE smoke in my face especially when I'm trying to listen to music! Also the food was ridiculously over priced. I suggest bring your own food and water. However I did like that they had recycling and compost bins. Bottom line: Don't buy all the overpriced stuff there, but the music definitely makes it worth while!

    Great event!

by chickachoi on 8/16/10Golden Gate Park Outside Lands Festival - San Francisco

I was really impressed by this years festival. I went the first year and it was poorly planned and a chaotic. They have really planned it out much better and great vendors. Was impressed by all the great food and totally reasonably priced! All the shows were on time and I had a great time!

First time at Outlands was fun

by sinn1092 on 8/16/10Golden Gate Park Outside Lands Festival - San Francisco

Overall we had a fun time. Kings of Leon and Phoenix were great! Lots of fun vendors and giveaways. Enjoyed the wine tent. Only had to wait in a bathroom line once--the other times just walked right up. I was disappointed with the amount of trash. There weren't enough trash cans around and people didn't even attempt to throw their cups and plates away so by the end of Sunday the ground was too gross to sit down on.
