Ottawa Senators History
The original Ottawa Senators were founded in 1883 and were one of the founding teams of the NHL during its early years, winning 11 Stanley Cup Championships between 1903 and 1927. When the NHL started to expand to the U.S., the Senators were sold to St. Louis and became the Eagles, but the team shuttered after one year. The second incarnation of the Senators joined the NHL in 1992. The Senators have since gone on to make the Stanley Cup Playoffs 16 times.

Ottawa Senators at Canadian Tire Centre
Located in Kanata, a vibrant suburb of Ottawa, Canadian Tire Centre is one of the region's premiere entertainment venues. Since opening in 1996, the arena has served as the home of the Ottawa Senators. Capable of hosting 18,000 fans for hockey games, the arena is also regularly used for concerts and other sports events. In 2007, the arena hosted games three and four of the Stanley Cup Finals. The arena is also known for being the place where Wayne Gretzky played his final NHL game in Canada.
The Ottawa Senators’ 2023–24 regular season kicks off in October at PNC Arena in Charlotte, North Carolina, when the Senators face off against the Carolina Hurricanes. The Senators will also participate in the 2023 NHL Global Series — hosted at Avicii Arena in Stockholm, Sweden — with matches against the Detroit Red Wings on November 16 and the Minnesota Wild on November 18. They play their final game of the regular season at TD Garden against Atlantic Division opponents the Boston Bruins. Here’s a list of key games to keep an eye on:
Tickets for the 2023–24 regular season can be purchased on Ticketmaster, the Official Ticket Marketplace of the Ottawa Senators.
The Senators have made one appearance in the Stanley Cup Final (in 2007), but have never won the Stanley Cup.

Great venue great people. Easy to get to great parking. Leaving is always a pain but moved pretty well for 19000 people no bad seats
Had a great night love going to see the Sens play.
This was a great experience with one exception. Great venue, great seats, parking, everything A-Plus. Except one detail. I drove 11 hours from Southern NB to see this game, so pretty excited for a first time visit to CTC. Seats in 322, M 20/21... great view, but... No crowd control. Zero. NADA. No Ushers controlling traffic during play so 40 minutes out of 60 watching people walk up and down the stairs in front of me blocking my view. What the hell? People are rude I get that. A few actually waited for the whistle. But the ones that lack hockey viewing etiquette are supposed to be controlled by ushers. They control movement in Montreal, Boston and Toronto so frankly I was quite disappointed that the Ushers did nothing in Ottawa. It is common courtesy to move during stoppages and not during play. Everything else A-Plus and I got my Goalie Hug so in the end I'll be back. Just some constructive criticism.
Great game! Went into overtime. Kept crowd involved and the people/servers were super nice
Very expensive concessions. Not reasonable for anyone with kids trying to enjoy a hockey game. It was considered “kids take over day” and if the kid wasn’t heard of the loud speaker you’d have no idea it was a kids day. The mascot and entertainer that were pumping up the crowd spent a majority of the time in the first level where a lot of corporate seats are located and not up in the upper tiers where the families can afford.
The new poster to pay for parking is awful Froze trying to load and pay Go back to accepting tap at the booths and get rid of the poster Pay nonsense Also for my father a 70 plus year old whom does not do pay by phone it’s awful There still are a generation of people whom do not and will not do app paying I have also submitting this feedback to the Ottawa senators they have yet to reply
Coming in from Boston I loved the game day activities! Thought the family atmosphere was great! Definitely will return to see another game.
Great game but my seat had no cushioning. I was in the first row on second level and was literally on the edge of my seat so I could see the game.
Performance on the ice is never a guarantee, but value for your money should be. Price of tickets are not exactly cheap, concession prices are sky high, and add additional charges just to park a car (for a price higher than nose bleed tickets) appears to be counterintuitive to increasing the fan base. Seating in premium seats come with an excellent in seat service, but charging an automatic gratuity and having a check out process that "encourages"adding a tip on top of a tip is not right. Yes the small print of the menu talks about gratuity and service charges, but who reads the small print when ordering food and drinks. Stop making the cost of the game the reason people don't go. There are enough challenges with the on ice performance (consistency), don't make the whole experience something to forget.
I purchased tickets for my family and I to see the Leafs play Ottawa - in Ottawa. I didn’t expect it to be the same vibe as Toronto because they are an away team. However, we were all greatly disappointed with just trying to get to the arena parking lot. We left early even, to sit in the car at a roundabout for 45mins. By the time we parked and got in to our seats we had missed the first period of the game. It was a frustrating bottleneck situation that really needs to be worked on. It was a great game, no complaints about that, however again on the way out of the arena - another bottleneck in which we had 30min of waiting in the car before anyone moved. We do expect that on the way out as we are all leaving the same time, but missing 1/3 of the game because of poor engineering, was not something I was expecting. So if you’re a leafs fan, I recommend Toronto Scotiabank arena rather than catching a game in Ottawa. Tickets might be a little More $$ but it’s worth it just for the parking lot experience alone and missing some of the game.
TICKET PRICE ARE GOOD ,BUT INSIDE WAS TERRIBLE PRICE OF FOOD EXTREMELY EXPENSIVE THATS WAS MY LAST TIME GOING SEE A GAME LIVE
Purchased tickets for my fiancés birthday and all in all it was a fun experience because we never attend games! I was reminded, however, when we got there and couldn’t get a drink or food for under 15$ EACH… why we don’t go ahaa. Fun though for a special occassion!
Great game, good action and sportsmanship. Live music was a great surprise!
This was me and my family’s first NHL game, and it did not disappoint! We had such a great evening. We were able to enter and find our seats easily. The host always engaged the crowd during TV timeouts as well as intermissions. It truly was s great experience, and I can’t wait for my next game.
Good game. Nice stadium. Great seats. Stadium hard to get to and terrible to get out of. Too bad. Otherwise great.
First trip north of the border to see a hockey game in years. Picked the Senators as I have always wanted to see Ottawa as well. Neither disappointed. Good seat - nice arena. As always, getting out of the parking lot after the game was a miserable experience. Hopefully I'll be back to catch another game.
I love to go to Ottawa for the weekend and go to see the Senators. me and my wife go at ottawa 2 or 3 time a year. Very nice city to travel with a pack sac. a place to go in your life.. put it on your bucket list :)
WAY TO GO SENS & Canadien Tire Center ! Everything was amazing ! Thank you
What a great night to be at a game. Having Craig Anderson back even for 1 night to sign a contract so that he could retire as an Ottawa Senator says alot about the team and its players. The boys fought hard to get a win was a great night out for sure
