Not a great dance quality but my 6 year olds daughter was happy.

The most horrible production and ballet I have ever seen.
Sweet and Cute (very age appropiate)
by Raquig007 on 1/30/14Florence Gould Hall at FIAF - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5My 3 year old daughter loved it from begining to end. She was clapping and shouting. The play was very cute and entertaining. The hour went by so fast. I would love to go back and I have totally recommend it. Anyone with a child aroudn 5 and under will enjoy it... A bit older not so much is very kid's friendly :)
Alice in Wonderland kids ballet great!
by drsharon1 on 1/29/14Florence Gould Hall at FIAF - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5I took my 5 year old son who was captivated throughout entire show. It was the perfect length, visually stimulating with an easy to follow story. Great venue for family in convenient location. All seats good. Great that there were Male dancers as well.
Memorable version of The Nutcracker!
by CalJack on 12/26/13Florence Gould Hall at FIAF - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5Excellent production of the Nutcracker! The ballet was top notch and the performers really made an endearing impression. This was a great experience for my girlfriend and I, and we would definitely recommend others to see future productions by the New York School of Ballet.
Wonderful!
by Twoyearoldtwins on 12/25/13Florence Gould Hall at FIAF - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5My 3year olds and I really enjoyed this show! It lasted a little over an hour with no intermission and they were good until the last 15 minutes or so. The dancing was fabulous, the costumes were beautiful and the set was very nice. We especially enjoyed the children in the show and we were thankful that the mice were not scary whatsoever (my kids were a bit anxious about that part). This was the perfect introduction to The Nutcracker. I highly recommend it for young viewers!
A Delightful Nutcracker
by ManhattanMomof2 on 12/25/13Florence Gould Hall at FIAF - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5This performance of the Nutcracker is a delightful performance that can be enjoyed by children and adults. It is abbreviated, at around 80 minutes, so it just right for shorter child-length attention spans. But adult audience members aren't neglected: the dancers, the choreography, the costumes, the lighting, and the set are beautiful and professional. I can't wait to return next year.
Short, sweet and fun!
by Anonymous on 12/19/13Florence Gould Hall at FIAF - New YorkRating: 4 out of 5Overall, I really liked this performance. The stand out performances which made this production "fun" were Drosselmeyer, Mouse Queen, the Harlequin dolls, Chinese and the Shepherd scene (although I'm not too sure what this scene has to do with Nutcracker!). I think that this is a wonderful production for kids and just the perfect amount of time for their attention span. On the down side, I did feel that the party scene was confusing at times (a little one behind me kept asking her mother questions about it). I seems that it should be more of a "party". Marie lacked the charisma/charm that I would like from that role...she unfortunately did not draw me in like I have seen in other Nutcracker productions. Other times I felt the choreography was awkward. Thought that the cavalier was very good, but was a bit disappointed with the Sugar Plum's performance. All in all, this is a wonderful performance for the company's intended audience. The costumes and scenery were fun and fanciful and the characters were very enjoyable!
great for young kids

This event is for children only. This isn't the classic nutcracker ballet. The ensemble is much too small and the story deviates too much from the original to be considered the traditional nutcracker story. However, if you have a small child 4 and under who needs entertaining this will do the trick.
A magical tradition!
by CindyKnight on 12/17/13Florence Gould Hall at FIAF - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5The New York Theatre Ballet's "The Nutcracker" was fabulous! A great rendition for young children. Our first trip was last year and this year was even better as my daughter is a year older and appreciated it even more. I would HIGHLY recommend buying a season pass and enjoying all the New York Theatre Ballet has to offer. A wonderful tradition has begun.
Perfect for Young Kids (and their Parents!)
by mrj101 on 12/17/13Florence Gould Hall at FIAF - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5Our family's 3rd NYTB Nutcracker; it's always entrancing for our kids (currently age 6 and 3), and we're always grateful it's no longer than one hour!
NYTB a wonderful night of dance
by BonnieLassie on 3/24/13Florence Gould Hall at FIAF - New YorkRating: 4 out of 5Loved the evening. Amusing to moving. A very entertaining evening. Loved the talk session in the middle of the performances with Valda Setterfeld and David Vaughan. Educational and reverent.
Wonderful children's ballet
by Scousette on 2/27/13Florence Gould Hall at FIAF - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5We are so glad that we went to see "Bark in the Park" and "The Firebird" - both of my daughters had a fantastic time. While "Bark in the Park" was fun, we preferred "The Firebird" as it was a more traditional ballet performance (as opposed to dance), something that my elder daughter really wanted to see. I would absolutely recommend the NYTB children's program - we were particularly impressed that the artistic director came out between performances to give a talk about music and rhythm.
Good first experience
by Brainpress on 2/26/13Florence Gould Hall at FIAF - New YorkRating: 4 out of 5I took my two years old daughter. She had never seen a ballet before, so we weren't sure what to expect. The auditorium is beautiful. The performance was good enough. The first part "Bark in the Park" was age-appropriate. The little musical game for the intermission is fantastic. The second piece "Firebird" , an ancient myth for the children, is more appealing to adults. I tried to explain the story to my daughter first: Ivan captures a Firebird, who buys her freedom with a magic feather; he later finds love but is thwarted by a sorcerer until his feather summons the Firebird and wins him victory and marriage. Truly and morning of "culture". Thanks!
NYTB is great for children
by NHgrandmom on 2/25/13Florence Gould Hall at FIAF - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5Excellent performance, just the right length and interest level for our 5 year old granddaughter. She was entranced! Equally engaging for adults. The theatre is also a good venue. Easy to see from any seat. Highly recommended for children age 4+.

We enjoyed it! Great for new Ballet enthusiasts. Interesting mix of contemporary and traditional techniques.
The Nutcracker was great!
by LSCNYC on 12/24/12Florence Gould Hall at FIAF - New YorkRating: 4 out of 5The performances were polished and cheerful and the costumes were bright and beautiful. The lighting and scenery were also terrific. My only complaint is that the music was unnecessarily loud. A Dad in the row behind us was actually covering his daughter's ears. My daughter was covering her ears as well. If NYTB reads these reviews, I hope that they will make a note of this for next year.
Disappointing Nutcracker
by Anonymous on 12/18/12Florence Gould Hall at FIAF - New YorkRating: 2 out of 5I was very disappointed that this was the first ballet my kids saw. The choreography was uninspired. The opening x-MAS party seemed to go on forever while the more interesting dances -- especially the short international set towards the end all blended together. My 4-year old daughter who has been taking ballet since she was 2 informed me that it was boring and sadly, I had to agree.
Keith Michael's Nutcracker was Perfect!
by UWSMOM2 on 12/12/12Florence Gould Hall at FIAF - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5I have seen many Nutcracker performances, and this show was a joy. It's length, costumes and choreography was ideal for my 3-year-old daughter's first ballet. The addition of the children interspersed with professionals was very nice. The sets were lovely, but I wish a little more intricate, although my daughter loved the snowflakes. Our fifth-row seats, for the price, were far better than we could have secured at any other show in New York City. I can't wait to take the whole family next year!
