New York Giants History

A cornerstone franchise of the National Football League, the New York Giants began play in 1925. Legally, the Giants are named “The New York Football Giants,” which distinguished them from the “New York Giants” baseball team that called New York their home until 1975, before moving to San Francisco.

As one of the most awarded franchises in history, the Giants have won eight league championships — including a victory over the New England Patriots in Super Bowl XLVI, their second in five seasons. The Giants (also known as the G-Men, the Jints and the Big Blue Wrecking Crew) are the only franchise in the NFL with a Super Bowl victory in each of the last four decades.

New York Giants at MetLife Stadium

The Giants are an institution with a storied history, and loyal fans can remember games at Yankees Stadium in the Bronx, Shea Stadium in Queens, the Yale Bowl, and Giants Stadium. MetLife Stadium, which became the Giants’ home stadium starting in 2010, is housed at the Meadowlands Sports Complex in East Rutherford, New Jersey, and is also home to the New York Jets, making it one of only two stadiums shared by two NFL teams.

The stadium cost approximately $1.6 billion to construct, which at the time made it the most expensive stadiums to be built in the U.S. With a capacity of 82,500, MetLife Stadium is one of the largest stadiums in the NFL. The stadium has hosted such major sporting events as the first outdoor, cold-weather Super Bowl XLVIII, Copa America Centenario Final, and the 2021 Army-Navy Game. It will also serve as a site for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

    Giants Fan Fest

by Nj on 8/8/22MetLife Stadium - East Rutherford

Horrible experience. We went regularly precovid and the kids always had a wonderful time. I understand that they had to change the set up due to covid precautions but the event was pretty useless. There was 1 activity outside the stadium. It looked cute but the wait was at least 1 hour. Besides that you were able to sit in the stadium and watch them scrimmage. However it was so boring to watch without an announcer or anything special since it was fan fest. We left early and seems like a lot of the crowd did as well

    Less than I expected

by Missi on 10/20/21MetLife Stadium - East Rutherford

My party and I weren’t aware we couldn’t bring even a small backpack which cost us a lot of time going to let it in the lockers and come back to do the long line. We weren’t aware we just could but beer before the half time what was really annoying as we precisely waited for that time to go to buy drinks as we have lost come of the first time because the back pack things . I think this should be more clear in advance. And It must see obvious for a football fan but it was our first time in a football game so you should think in every kind of client. Other thing, people working in the parking lot wasn’t aware where were the different kind of parking we had gold and we ask one of the people working there and he didn’t know plis make us do a big loop until we found out the place we were looking was just next to the person we asked . What make us loose moreeee time.

Seats were bad. Game was worse.

by Disgruntled fan. on 9/30/21MetLife Stadium - East Rutherford

The seats were in the next to last row so they were not worth the price. The transportation via the train back Secaucus was awful. People refused to wear masks and the conductor would not address the situation. Instead they just let the inconsiderate riders break the law.

Game was great had a good time.

by Sandman on 9/30/21MetLife Stadium - East Rutherford

I don’t like the fact that I brought a platinum parking ticket, lower level seats. Almost $300 a ticket ( 3 seats where purchased ) and did not receive a Eli Manning bobble head. It should not be distributed the way it was, and it should of been handed out to the people who paid for higher priced seats. I was very disappointed in that. It’s unfair to the ones who paid for expensive seats, to have someone who could of just brought a last minute ticket and received a prize just for entering the area before someone else.

    Jets v Giants

by Giants Forever on 8/17/21MetLife Stadium - East Rutherford

The game was awesome, concessions were pretty good, attendants could be a little faster though. Ushers were amazing! There was one guy in our section (135;28;3 & 4) that was so personable, he was great! I think the only thing that could make it better is if parking guides and entrance guides could be better organized and efficient to get patrons in faster. For instance, if patrons don’t have their electronic tickets ready to be scanned, they need to step aside. Or make two lines for those that have their tickets ready to scan and those that still need to produce to scan. Overall the game was awesome. My Giants lost but I’m happy for the Jets, my boyfriend is the Jets fan and the game was for his birthday!

    Beer no more

by Scott on 11/7/19MetLife Stadium - East Rutherford

Coming from overseas we were looking forward to the game. Would have been nice to have been informed that we would need our passports to actually buy a beer. What the????? With all of us well into our thirties and forty’s we found it really frustrating not being able to buy a beer to enjoy with the game.

Easy process! Had a blast at the game!

    by B. D. on 11/7/19MetLife Stadium - East Rutherford

I went to see the Cowboys play the Giants at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. I had a pretty good seat in the endzone. The coolest thing was that the Cowboys scored all of their touchdowns in the endzone my seat was in!
