This is the last chance to see Joel as he celebrates his final live tour performing the unique comedic art form he created. The exhilarating, nonstop, rapid-fire hilarity is brimming with hundreds of jokes riffed on a "So-Bad-It's-Good" feature film, plus spirited sketches and songs that turn the stage into a circus-themed party.
I am so glad I was able to see this show. It was so damn funny!
That was a fantastic night of comedy sketches and poking fun at a bad, bad movie. It was an interesting choice that made to scale back the stage show to be more puppet-based than prop-based like the last two live shows. I think it made for a loving homage to the roots of MST3K as a puppet show. Definitely worth checking out when it comes to your city.
This was the best MST3K I've ever seen! My husband & his brothers all watch it, so I went with them - they loved it, I love it even though I don't really get into MST3K generally - but this one was so good. Would recommend for all, lovers and nonlovers of MST3K alike, because it was just brilliantly funny.
First of all, it’s so great to see Joel again after being a fan of his for over 25 years. That said, the MST3K live show was a mixed bag. Everything to do with watching the movie and hearing the riffs was stupendous. I laughed and laughed. All the filler stuff at the breaks: skits, songs, jokes, etc, were painful. I would’ve preferred a short or something over watching that. Theatre was a good venue, some sound issues, but overall a very enjoyable night.
Fantastic show. Its kind of hard to describe but if you loved the TV show you really must see this. Everyone was very funny and I have not been in a place where I have heard this much laughter in a long time
To see MST3K live with a group of like-minded Misties is a rare treat. This was an event I will remember fondly like the previous tour all the way back to the first convention in 92. Knowing this is going to be Joel's final live tour made the event bittersweet. The movie "No Retreat No Surrender" that was riffed was perfect for those of us who came of age in the 80s to remind us that not all movies were Ferris Bueller and Indiana Jones. The audience was really into it enough so a few lines were drowned out from laughter making me hope that a taping of one of these dates is recorded. At the final curtain call a standing ovation for the creator that has brought us a remarkable run.
This was a hilarious show, great time, really on brand with MST3K!
One of the funniest things I’ve ever been too. Loved the practical effects too
MST3K was a lot of fun! The cast was great as usual. Love this theater as well, it’s so unique! One of the best I’ve ever seen. We’d definitely go back to see them again.
Cast was funny, though a lot of new faces/voices (other than Joel). Circus theme didn't mesh well with the movie. It felt like two different shows going on, as opposed to their middle skits being related to the movie in some way. The pre-intermission skit was funny until it unraveled into a "buy our merch" shtick, which became less funny as long as it continued. All in all it was enjoyable, but made me long for more of the new stuff (and earlier MST3K Live shows).
So much fun! A great evening of laughing out loud at cheesiness.
Joel, Emily and the bots put on a show to remember. My son had his first and last opportunity to see Joel live before he hands the reins to the next generation. The delivery of the jokes was spot on during the fil. The host scenes brought back a wave of nostalgia to the show's Comedy Central Days. I pray Joel's creative influence remains strong in live events and Netflix seasons to come even if he is retiring from the tour scene. Thanks for an amazing night of horrible movies and great fun! This show is a must for any MST3K fan who has a tour stop in their town.
It's like seeing a cheap Vegas show. The show is going downhill. The new actors are quite annoying. Joel is looking tired, but this is his last tour anyway. If you are.a fan of the new series, you'll like it.
Really hoping there will be another. Great fun for the entire family.
As a kid, I loved watching MST on television and was a little doubtful about a play. THE PLAY WAS TERRIFIC!! My husband and I could not stop laughing and we've told everyone we know how much we enjoyed it. The movie was as bad as all the other movies -- just wish it could have been science fiction.
Very fun show, great to see after watching re-runs all these years. The movie was a gem too, No Retreat No Surrender.
Great experience. Terrific bad movie to riff on ("No Return, No Surrender"). Don't miss Joel in his farewell tour. I have always been a fan of the series, so this was a terrific way to celebrate it.
The cheesiness was great! Loved watching this on TV and glad I got to see the live version! The movie choice was exceptional- SO bad it was good.
My son and i used to watch MST religiously. He even has VHS tapes of episodes! When i saw that the tour was going to be in Akron, i jumped at the chance to go. I was not disappointed. Joel and the gang put on a very entertaining show. Although my son now lives in Boston, i told him about the Boston shows.
A blast from the past. Watched this on tv years ago. It was a great show, at the Civic
