About

Everyone's favorite Scottish nanny is headed on tour in "a feel-good, family-friendly comedy that delivers" (The Hollywood Reporter). Based on the beloved film and directed by four-time Tony Award® winner Jerry Zaks, Mrs. Doubtfire tells the hysterical and heartfelt story of an out-of-work actor who will do anything for his kids. It's "the lovable, big-hearted musical comedy we need right now," raves the Chicago Tribune - one that proves we're better together.

  • Loved, loved, loved this musical!

by NM on 6/10/24San Diego Civic Theatre - San DiegoRating: 5 out of 5

Our thoughts before the play--Who could ever bring Mrs. Doubtfire to life the way Robin Williams did in the movie? Our comments after the production - WOW! That was amazingly well done!!! We loved it. Rob McClure nailed it as Mrs. Doubtfire, the rest of the cast were wonderful as well, set changes were skillfully and seamlessly done, and the storyline, although updated, was every bit as funny and heartwarming as the movie. I highly recommend seeing this production. I'd consider going again if it returns to San Diego in the future. It's suitable for children and I'd love to share it with my granddaughter. It was one of the best things my husband and I have seen in a very long time.

  • extraordinary show!

Rob McClure was incredible. Story was good, funny and a little sad at times. Silly and serious, sometimes at the same time.

  • True comedy

by Elvie on 6/9/24San Diego Civic Theatre - San DiegoRating: 5 out of 5

This was truly a comedy with opportunities to crack up sprinkled all over, while having some serious moments due to the nature of the topic at heart. The actors we saw in San Diego were pure magic. I haven’t checked who, if anyone, was original cast. However, regardless, magic was pure and undeniable in every single individual on stage. From acting to voices - everything was top notch. My kids who are 8 and 10 missed some references that made all the adults LOL, but I loved the balance between serious and hysterical, grown up and kid friendly - all of it. I would love to have another opportunity and this time I’d pay premium for the front row to see them all do their magic from up close. Purely masterful in every aspect of the production.

  • Will see this again!

by Dennis on 6/7/24San Diego Civic Theatre - San DiegoRating: 5 out of 5

A friend wanted to go see Mrs Doubtfire, the Musical - I wasn't wild about this, thought I would rather see the original on tv at home - then she became sick, could not go, could not get someone else to go with me on short notice, so I went alone. It was fantastic! Very high energy, very talented cast, everyone gave great performances! I intend now to see if I can get tickets that are wheelchair accessible for a friend, and sit up fairly close to attend with 3 other friends - very interesting to read about the entire cast on the computer once home - I can't think of anyone that could have done their job better, all were great!

  • Great Play; Poor Venue

by Carly on 6/5/24Centennial Hall - TucsonRating: 4 out of 5

The play was great! Very funny, great music. The venue was awful. The last few times I have been to Centennial Hall tall and or large people sat in front of me. I ended up leaning over to be able to see the stage. I had good seats too. Very few venues have this kind of seating anymore. Not is it only poor visually but it is getting worn out and dated. The acoustics are poor too. I just can’t see going to Centennial Hall for entertainment anymore. I just can’t see shelling out $400+ to not be able to see and be uncomfortable.

  • What a night!

by Shell on 6/4/24Centennial Hall - TucsonRating: 5 out of 5

My friend and I got tickets to see Mrs Doubtfire at U of A in Tucson, AZ. I was afraid that it wouldn’t be the same without Robin Williams in the lead, but boy was that wrong! It was a 2 1/2 hour show and we loved every minute! I could watch it again and again! Thank you! An extremely talented cast!

The show was phenomenal but the lead actor was amazing. I don’t know how he kept track of which character or which voice he needed to use in each scene. His performance was wonderful. The whole cast was excellent. The kids did great and really good voices.
