About

Everyone's favorite Scottish nanny is headed on tour in "a feel-good, family-friendly comedy that delivers" (The Hollywood Reporter). Based on the beloved film and directed by four-time Tony Award® winner Jerry Zaks, Mrs. Doubtfire tells the hysterical and heartfelt story of an out-of-work actor who will do anything for his kids. It's "the lovable, big-hearted musical comedy we need right now," raves the Chicago Tribune - one that proves we're better together.

  • Great Family Fare

by Theatre Goer on 6/17/24Hollywood Pantages Theatre - Los AngelesRating: 5 out of 5

Mrs. Doubtfire on stage is just as much fun as the movie you remember. Pulling the lead role off on stage is a true feat, and Rob McClure is amazing. Some of the music is catchy, and the sweet message of love and family makes this a perfect show for all ages.

From start to finish, this was the best player I’ve ever seen. The play had everything and all of the cast was absolutely amazing. The guy who played Mrs. Doubtfire was extremely talented. Theater is a great venue! Definitely a five star event!

  • Superlatives can't do it justice! Best show ever!

by Ash on 6/14/24Hollywood Pantages Theatre - Los AngelesRating: 5 out of 5

My wife and I are regular Pantages theatre-goers and catch several shows a year. They're all of a high standard, with some hits and misses. Mrs Doubtfire stood out among them all. It's an incredibly good adaptation of the classic film, with a fantastic up-to-date libretto, great music, a terrific ensemble and direction, rich production values, and possibly the best company I've had the pleasure of seeing on the Pantages stage. The performances are to die for, every single cast member gives it their all, and believe me, they're all so very talented. It's a great thing to see a wonderful company work together and this one does it like clockwork, making the incredibly difficult look easy as pie. It's a virtuoso, thrilling spectacle, and a complete musical extravaganza deepening and expanding a full, emotionally rich story that has so many shades of human experience. If there's such a thing as a Great American Musical, this particular touring company's performance of Mrs Doubtfire definitely deserves to be considered in its ranks. Kudos and encores unlimited!

  • A very amusing play. Laughing all the time.

by SJ on 6/12/24Centennial Hall - TucsonRating: 5 out of 5

The entire crew were amazing. The play followed the original movie most of the time. Our orchestra seating gave us a very clear and unobstructed view of the play. Getting in and out went very smoothly. Back to the play. During our viewing of the show, something on Mrs. Doubtfire started smoking. It was around her stomach area and clearly was not a part of the show. The actor quickly walked off to the side of the stage. There was a 5-minute stoppage of the show. When the issue was corrected, the players on stage went right back to the spot and picked up the play like nothing ever happened. Very professionally handled. It was a very funny play. My Wife, Daughter and I were laughing most of the time.

  • I still love Mrs. Doubtfire!

by Sherri on 6/12/24San Diego Civic Theatre - San DiegoRating: 5 out of 5

It was so fun to see one of our family favorite movies come back in our life by way of this musical. Really talented crew on this one. The lead was amazing! Thanks Civic Theater for always giving us an experience to make new memories.

  • Fun and fresh show with heart

by kims on 6/12/24San Diego Civic Theatre - San DiegoRating: 5 out of 5

I forgot how emotional the topic of divorce was in the movie and the actor playing the oldest daughter moved me, even from the balcony. There are so many different styles of song and dance that it keeps you wondering, what will they come up with next?! And you can never have too much of Mrs. Doubtfire! A well polished show that has laughs, but also a lot of heart.

  • A must see show!

by Vilma on 6/11/24San Diego Civic Theatre - San DiegoRating: 5 out of 5

I loved the 1994@3 movie version of “Mrs. Doubtfire” and Robin Williams it. I was pleasantly surprised to watch the play version and the updated lot. The lead actor who could do different voices,, sing and dance was a gem.

  • Loved it

by Christine on 6/11/24San Diego Civic Theatre - San DiegoRating: 5 out of 5

My mom and brother had enjoyed this show in Ft Lauderdale so when it came to San Diego I knew I needed to see it. It was Fantastic. The lead actor was brilliant and the rest of the cast was phenomenal. This may sound like hyperbole, but it made me laugh like no other show has and I’m a regular theater goer. I left the show saying I wanted to see it again.

  • The show was great!

by Donna W on 6/11/24San Diego Civic Theatre - San DiegoRating: 5 out of 5

This was my first musical theatre experience...I was smiling the whole time. I loved Mrs Doubtfire the movie and was wondering how they were going to fit many of the scenes in this show that would make sense. They did a wonderful job...and funny as well. The actor who portrayed Mrs. Doubtfire was spot on.

  • So much fun!

by Jess on 6/11/24San Diego Civic Theatre - San DiegoRating: 5 out of 5

I was laughing and smiling the whole time, even some light tears with the relatable story line. They really brought this story to life and I think it’s better than the movie! Would see it again! Actors all get an A+ in my book.

  • It was ok entertainment

by Annette on 6/11/24San Diego Civic Theatre - San DiegoRating: 3 out of 5

First off the whole thing was weird. There were some hilarious points and there was what is happening points. They did recreate scenes from the original movie but most of it was a new creation which seemed a little off. It was very forced. Also, they stuck in a lot of scenes with the gay brother and his husband. In the movie they were like normal people but gay. The play went over the top like transgender style. The brother’s husband had crazy high heels on. It was just weird. They pushed too much of their agenda instead of trying to make a great play. I don’t care about gay or straight but certain things don’t need to be forced like that. Mrs. Doubtfires mask was very strange. Pretty cool how it molded to his face but it’s was so completely different than anything I’ve seen. Overall it wasn’t bad. It was entertaining for two hours but I wouldn’t waste money to see it again.

  • What an amazing show!!!

by Yas on 6/10/24San Diego Civic Theatre - San DiegoRating: 5 out of 5

The cast, writers, costume designers, basically everyone was phenomenal! They did such a good job of adapting the movie to current standards. Before seeing the show I was worried bc I didn't know anyone like Robin williams to bring that character to live but I met with Robert McClure - he is very talented, didn't make me miss Robin williams at all :) Take your kids, friends, family with you! This show is a must see
