MICHAEL MCDONALD IN CONCERT:
Ever since his 1982 solo debut, Michael McDonald has consistently dominated soft rock airwaves with his rich baritone voice and soulful performances. McDonald's powerhouse live shows are a veritable trip back in time, combining beloved hits like "I Keep Forgettin' (Every Time You're Near)" with classic material from his days with the Doobie Brothers. A distinguished performer with undeniable soul, McDonald never fails to bring the house down, and his 2014 tour dates will be no different.
BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
Born in St. Louis, McDonald played in several bands in high school before heading out to Los Angeles to pursue music professionally. By the mid-'70s, he had landed himself a gig playing with jazz rock legends Steely Dan, appearing on several of their most influential albums including 1977's Aja and 1980's Gaucho. Around the same time, he was recruited by the Doobie Brothers for a national tour, going on to become a full-time member of the band as lead vocalist on classic recordings like "Takin' it to the Streets" and "What a Fool Believes." Following the Doobie's farewell tour, McDonald released his 1982 solo debut If That's What It Takes, a Top 10 hit on both the Billboard 200 and R&B/Hip-Hop Albums charts. With eight studio albums and an extensive list of acclaimed collaborations under his belt, McDonald has plenty of hits to choose from as he puts together the setlists for his 2014 tour.

McDonald was good and he played most of the hits I wanted to hear. But his vocals are fading these days - so he's good, but not great. However, Chaka Khan was simply amazing! Still has the great voice, lots of energy, an amazing set of songs and a fantastic band (McDonald's band was great, too). Just an incredible performance. The show was highlighted by the fact that both sang duets in each other's set. Just a really great evening.

My only suggestion would be that: Better communication is needed with the Meet & Greets! The printouts online, the information relayed by the box office and event staff all differed. It’s understandable that situations can occur to alter previous directions, however, there are ways of minimizing their effects. I’m sure you guys will figure that out

Chaka looked and sounded great!! And, I was very excited to hear Michael and his magical voice!! He did not disappoint!! And, I liked how he shared some past experiences with the audience - we felt more connected. It was a lovely evening that I will cherish!!

Being my first time it was awesome seeing a packed show and how the lawn was full of people with food, tables and chairs to enjoy the festivities. I met so many people and enjoyed singing and dancing with fellow music lovers. The interaction of songs with both artists was a treat as well. All around fantastic time and worth every penny! The only thing I wished I could have purchased was a Chaka Kahn fan...it would have gone perfect in my project room! :) Thank you, Kay

A great venue that continues to become less inviting year by year.... it took us nearly an hour to get through metal detectors for entry. 5 metal detectors 1 metal detector for guests that had a cooler with wheels. So if you had brought anything with a wheel on the bottom it took you almost 45 minutes longer than the rest of the crowd which can be infuriating when your waiting in line for hours to begin with! Now since they take away more grass each year for ga and picnics and add more reserve seating each year we were nearly in the back row by the time we got in.....Chaka khan and Michael McDonald were fabulous!!!!!

I thought he sounded great! Both he and Chaka Kahn put on great shows, but they could have been a little longer. We saw them at the theatre in the Grand Sierra Resort in Reno, which is a small venue with no bad seats.

FIRST TIME I SAW HIM PLAY GUITAR ON HIS FISRT NUMBER I KEEP FORGETTIN'. GREAT 12 SONG SET WITH 2 ENCORE NUMBERS. THE LAST BEING TAKIN' IT TO THE STREETS WITH CHAKA KHAN. HIGH ENERGY NIGHT!!!!
