What is the Miami Open?
The Miami Open is a professional tennis tournament held annually in March in Miami, Florida that draws some of the top tennis talent on the men's and women's tours. Also known as the Miami Masters, it is an ATP World Tour Masters 1000 event on the men's tour and a Premier Mandatory event on the women's tour. The tennis event is held at Hard Rock Stadium where the NFL's Miami Dolphins play among other events. It was previously held at the Tennis Center at Crandon Park in Key Biscayne just off the coast of Miami.
The event moved to Hard Rock Stadium after over $500 million was spent in renovations, including a new tennis campus featuring 29 permanent tournament and practice courts as well as additional food and entertainment facilities. The 14,000-seat center court within Hard Rock Stadium is designed for intimacy, luxury and a comfortable fan experience. A state-of-the-art in-stadium shade canopy and the largest video board in tennis offers a luxury seating experience.
Had a blast from beginning to end! Lots of fun stuff to do at the event besides tennis !
The stadium seats were difficult to get to and uncomfortable. My mom is 75 and there were so many stairs and a giant ramp instead of escalators. Food took a long time and barely any tables near the food area to sit and eat. Parking and walking from parking to stadium took a half hour with all the bridges and ramps. There was no shuttle bus to the parking. I used to go to crandon park year. I wont go back to the miami open until the organizers move it.
The stadium is nice, but everything is top expansive.
There is plenty of room for improvement. The entrance to the smaller venues is very disorganized. Parking should be done in a much faster way. Food is limited variety and extremely expensive for what you get…. People that are up above on the stadium should be allowed to move further down when attendance is low…..And more and more……
Amazing event, well organized and an incredible experience.
Can t believe your automatic email request me to leave a review ! One thing for sure, we are in Miami !! No communication ! No professionalism ! A venue overpriced just because it’s Miami . Should I go already about the topic of the parking ?! 2 hours !!! Prepaid ticket but I had to pay again a random person to park about 25 min from the venue just because your employees are overwhelmed and have no clue how to handle things !! I am still waiting for you to reimburse me ! A stadium that sounds empty, thank god you have correct food but no interesting beverages . You are a master 1000 venue that acts worse than a challenger in a random city ! I won’t use all you 5K characters because you don’t deserve them
It was our first time going and I bought the tickets as our 17 yr wedding anniversary and we had a great time. Only downside is that I have bad knees and the walking up and down stairs to get to the venue from the car was a lot. I could barely move the next day and my knee was double it size. But everyone was very friendly and the seats were amazing. Will definitely return next year.
more like a carnival best embiance ever loved it so much!
I purchased in the section 107, located on the temporary seats, I felt that you should call that portion of the section as in the 200’s because it is the same level that if I would’ve purchased on the stadium fixed seats in the 200’s. Aside of that, to access up and down from that structure is very uncomfortably and on the unsafety side due to how narrow the hallways are. I know for next time not to buy in there. Other than this, we had a good time! Thanks
My husband and I are in our sixties and have been to the Miami Open several times. There were several aspects this year that disappointed us compared to other years. 1. Parking-the first day we had to park in the far yellow lot. It seemed like a five mile walk to get to the stadium. Why was the closer orange lot designated for rideshare or busses only? 2. Elevator use in the stadium was frowned upon. After all the walking just to get in, we had to ask for a supervisor to be able to access the elevator in the stadium. Why?? 3. The food was terrible. On the grounds it was a lot of pizza wings and ice cream. We finally found some freshly carved turkey sandwiches in the stadium that were very good, but that's it. 3. Expensive food and drink. We wanted to share a beer and asked for an extra cup which no one would give us. 4. Stadium seating is too immense. The 300 level is not needed at least for the early matches. Why not sell reasobably priced seats in the 200 level so that you have a good crowd closer the courts. In closing, James Blake and the powers that be need to think more of what the fans experience is like and make some changes to make it a pleasant experience.
Center Court stuck in the middle of the football stadium was great if you were sitting on the football stadium side. For those of us on the temporary side, bathrooms and food were a long walk away. We bought tickets months in advance for two days instead of buy a multi-day package. We were punished for that by not being given a good choice of tickets. All of the outside courts were a hike from the main stadium and information people were very nice but not informed. One gave me wrong information -- I had a stadium ticket which allowed general admission to outside courts but I was mistakenly told that, no, I had to have another ticket for those courts. It's not necessarily the tournament's fault but the big hotel we stayed in should have been a pleasant walk to the stadium but the obstacle course of a route made that unsafe, especially at night, and included a malfunctioning pedestrian light to cross six lanes of whizzing vehicles and missing pieces of sidewalk.. So you could pay $30 a person for one round trip on a shuttle or drive yourself. There were four of us and the shuttle didn't make much sense so we drove. The hike from the parking lot was almost as long as the hike from the hotel but at least we didn't fear for our lives. I have been to all of the "slams"and several other tournaments as well and this one is definitely off my list mainly because the venue is so poor.
The tennis was great. We saw a lot of wonderful matches. The venue was difficult to maneuver around. At times we could not find the courts where we wanted to watch a certain match. When we asked some employees with yellow shirts where certain things (customer service booth) in the main stadium are located they did not know. On Saturday I bought a frozen lemonade without vodka on Sunday they would not sell me the plain frozen lemonade. No one took cash.
I had never been to the Miami Open in the new venue. I absolutely loved it and look forward to going back. Great job in set-up of the whole event!
I went for 3 times in Crandon Park, this is my first here. So good, clear, all informations is avalible, just the price for us brasilian is expencive, thanks for give me another day because the rain, it was fantastic decision. So i will be back, of course.
The Miami Open attracts some of the worlds best tennis players... and fans. The MO is maturing into an attractive and exciting place for fans. The logistics around access to some high draw matches, especially when transitioning from the day to night session was a bit of a farce. The empty aluminium bottle cascading down the bleachers must have been a terrible distraction for the players. I would have appreciated the opportunity to speak with someone about the somewhat average fan experience. It will not do to have fans arriving and departing at will while points are being played. While parking and getting in to the stadium were challenging, once inside... it was lovely. The grounds are nicely landscaped, there was ample outdoor seating and space to watch matched on a huge outdoor screen. The staff were mostly friendly and helpful. However, there should be more stations to refill water bottles.
Awful organization Amazing matches in small court And bad matches in stadium Totally disorder 👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻
I love tennis and watching tournaments. We have been to quite a few tournaments all over. This one by far was the most chaotic and unorganized one yet. It’s a shame cause the weather is a perfect setting for some good tennis. It just felt cheaply done and very little attention to organization or plans. If the fans are seeing the chaos who knows how bad it is for the players.
This event is not in Miami, it’s in Hollywood. It should be back at Crandon Park in Key Biscayne. There was zero replay on the TV screens, due to technical error. The players played great, love to watch the’ compete.
Parking is far, but everything else is spectacular. The grounds, food/drink and hospitality options, courts, overall ambience are all on-par with the US Open and Roland Garros. You will usually get all of the top players in the world, as well. I was very impressed this year, and will likely return every year.
The upper level of the stadium is too far. Unfortunately some people cannot afford the expensive lower seats. Did enjoy matches in the Grandstand, and other outer courts. But my favorite players were in the stadium. In the evening session. During one whole match, the only one that was full, people kept coming in and out, with food or drinks, or just getting up randomly during the points. So people who actually care about the match could not enjoy. I’ll watch the rest of the tournament on tv were I can actually follow the matches.
