What is the Miami Open?

The Miami Open is a professional tennis tournament held annually in March in Miami, Florida that draws some of the top tennis talent on the men's and women's tours. Also known as the Miami Masters, it is an ATP World Tour Masters 1000 event on the men's tour and a Premier Mandatory event on the women's tour. The tennis event is held at Hard Rock Stadium where the NFL's Miami Dolphins play among other events. It was previously held at the Tennis Center at Crandon Park in Key Biscayne just off the coast of Miami.

The event moved to Hard Rock Stadium after over $500 million was spent in renovations, including a new tennis campus featuring 29 permanent tournament and practice courts as well as additional food and entertainment facilities. The 14,000-seat center court within Hard Rock Stadium is designed for intimacy, luxury and a comfortable fan experience. A state-of-the-art in-stadium shade canopy and the largest video board in tennis offers a luxury seating experience.

  • First Time

by Butterflyvee on 3/30/19Hard Rock Stadium - MiamiRating: 5 out of 5

I’ve always wanted to attend the Miami Open and this year I had the opportunity. I must say, it was more than I ever thought. The experience was phenomenal. The Grove was stunning! The restaurants and all the other vendors were great too. I learned that I can switch and upgrade my tickets, which is a big help for next year. Lastly, I also enjoyed the art museum as we were leaving! So glad the Miami Open is at Hard Rock Stadium-very convenient.

  • The rain and bad choices halted the experience

by Marcelo G. on 3/30/19Hard Rock Stadium - MiamiRating: 2 out of 5

First of all I have to say that everything related to Ticketmaster was perfect, I print the tickets for the event and the parking and with that I have no problem. Now speaking of the event I must say that the rain issue was poorly solved by the event, as tennis fan I know that rain is an issue in this event but the solution they came up when the rain showed up was really bad. I had tickets for tuesday night and as rain complicated the day, the strong part of the night session (Federer) was moved for the following afternoon. At that point they decided to exchange the tickets of that night for the following day and promised to give us the best available tickets. Well, that didn't happend, we got the worst tickets they have so far that I almost can't tell who was Federer and who was the other guy. Clearly that weren't the best tickets that were almost unsalable ones. I belive at this point that option would be a full refund of the tickets not the exchange we had. On the other side the program wasn't well at all, the wednesday night schedule was poorly chosen. I belive that they really have to improve. The rest was really fine, the enviroment was very nice and I spend time walking around and enjoying it, but the tennis part wasn't there.

  • Great venue

Very fan friendly, comfortable seating, liked seating for the practice courts. Didn't have to pay a fortune for great seats in the stadium.

  • Magnifying glass

    by m. on 3/30/19Hard Rock Stadium - MiamiRating: 1 out of 5

I made the mistake of choosing a seat in the sun. In this case it meant being under a sun magnifying glass. The sun not only directly hit you but reflected off of the aluminum in front of me to make it unbearable. On the shade side or under the bleachers it was a beautiful temperature but in the sun almost everyone was waving some find of improvised fan. I own a pool service company in Bonita Springs FL so I'm in the sun every day but I ended up leaving in the middle of a Federer match exhausted. And this was not even a hot day. This situation is going to end up with someone in heat stroke.

  • Great event

Great event Everything was improved. Despite the place doesn’t has the charming of crandon park, the event has improved in all aspects. Many restaurants, restrooms, excellent courts, etc etc

Taking Miami Open from Key Biscayne i was a little disappionted but when i drove to Hard Rock for Monday night match with no traffic jam ez parking and to walk in the stadium i was impressed. Two thumbs up and a wink for tournament and Dolphins owners.

  • The hole experience at Miami Open 2019

by Neto Deretti on 3/29/19Hard Rock Stadium - MiamiRating: 5 out of 5

Ecxualy this was the first time for in a tennis tournament and the experience couldn’t be better than was. I could watch the great win of Bautista Agut was the number 1 Novak Djokovic and also enjoy all the environment at the place where the tournament was hosted. I hope he there next year!!!

  • To big,

by Pina on 3/29/19Hard Rock Stadium - MiamiRating: 3 out of 5

Not understand, why no bags inside only transparents bags.... You can buy a very nice bottle at the shop , but you’re not alloved to take it in the stadium, so I paied 20$ and I had to live it outside.... I prefered Key Biscaine

  • Nice but I liked Key Biscayne better

by Fedfan on 3/29/19Hard Rock Stadium - MiamiRating: 3 out of 5

First, the positives...so easy to get to, right off the turnpike. Outer courts are very nice, love the actual seats in the grandstand. Sightlines in the main stadium are good. I dug the colors. Now, the drawbacks. No ambience, at least compared to last year. It feels like a tennis court was dropped down on a football field...because it was! I miss looking out at the ocean. There's no food court, they do have food trucks but it's lacking. Pricing was normal for this type of event. Will I be back? Yes, I love tennis and it's nice to get away to some place warm. I think they'll improve things as they gain experience. Also I was told the web site wasn't user friendly and that needs work as well.

  • Nice place, but Crandon had a more tennis atmosphere

by Fábio on 3/29/19Hard Rock Stadium - MiamiRating: 4 out of 5

HRS is great place, easy access and lots of places for bites, much better than Crandon, however, the Crandon Stadium had a better atmosphere. And also at Crandon It seems the weather is better, usually doesn’t shower, although both places are in the same city.

  • Loved the tennis, hated the still air.

by jan on 3/29/19Hard Rock Stadium - MiamiRating: 4 out of 5

I loved the venue. I loved the tennis matches that I saw. My stadium seats however had a glare from the metal steps so bright that I could not see at times and had to go out. I will not sit in this section again 207. Mist fans for cooling and moving air would have been helpful on the grounds where the eateries and tents were set up. The fake grass was very warm. Overall, I will be there next year. Can't wait.

  • Hot

by Bucky on 3/29/19Hard Rock Stadium - MiamiRating: 4 out of 5

Absolutely superb event and stadium for tennis. Cannot fault the fantastic organisation of the entire event from all the staff in every avenue. Food available was delicious . My only gripe was the total lack of water fountains in visible positions , on an extremely hot day we spent $40 on water and were still dehydrated... This is not as it should be where it is vital for everyone to maintain a good level of hydration, especially children and more elderly people.... This needs addressing please .. we were visiting this event specifically travelling from U.K., where at Wimbledon this is not an issue, despite rarely enjoying the wonderful temperatures that we experienced in Miami.

  • Miami Open Tennis

    by E. on 3/29/19Hard Rock Stadium - MiamiRating: 4 out of 5

Overall I'm very impressed with the new Miami Open. Kudos to the organizers. One major complaint however, the cost of parking is outrageous.

  • Too expensive

by RFB on 3/29/19Hard Rock Stadium - MiamiRating: 3 out of 5

The venue and the event were very good. However the ticket prices and parking for $40 were too expensive. It is priced equal or above a grand slam event, and it is only a Masters 1000 event

  • Had a great time watching top players

by Brian on 3/29/19Hard Rock Stadium - MiamiRating: 4 out of 5

We were on the third level but could see everything clearly. The place was immaculate and we were able to find our way around the grounds with ease.

  • Great New Venue

    by M. G. on 3/28/19Hard Rock Stadium - MiamiRating: 5 out of 5

This was my first trip to the Miami Open and I was impressed with the venue. Parking was easy and close, plenty of places to eat and shop, They did a great job in configuring the stadium for tennis use. Great experience.

  • Great tennis, disappointing venue

by Dave on 3/28/19Hard Rock Stadium - MiamiRating: 4 out of 5

We really enjoyed the tennis. We were able to get excellent seats at Court 1 and the Grandstand and saw great matches in the Grandstand. The new venue at Hard Rock Stadium is disappointing. Too much space means a lot of walking. Everyone I talked to who had seats in the Stadium was disappointed by how far they were from the court. Also the prices for good seats in the Stadium were too high. The food choices at Hard Rock were not to our liking and everything is over-priced. We very much prefer the Crandon Park location of previous years.

  • Good but not as great as previous venue

by Marcelo on 3/28/19Hard Rock Stadium - MiamiRating: 3 out of 5

Been a steady fan of this tournament for the last 20 years. The new venue is more convenient in terms of access and parking but: - food and drinks outrageously expensive - water fountains almost non-existent, and most importantly - access to practice courts are very limited (only some high bleachers on the back) - hence the experience is pretty poor. I miss the old venue !!!

  • Miami

    by J. on 3/28/19Hard Rock Stadium - MiamiRating: 4 out of 5

Fun event and the new vibe at hard rock stadium is fun. Getting around was easy and the practice courts were nicely organized. I had no problems getting seats at all the matches I wanted to watch. I had three complaints. 1. I don’t like the recliner seats in front row of main stadium unless the king of Siam cones to see a game. 2. The aluminum floor in the main stadium was very reflective and hot during day matches. 3. Getting into the main stadium seating was confusing and attendants didn’t seem to know either. Otherwise, big thumbs up and well done on new location.

  • More than I expected
