What is the Miami Open?

The Miami Open is a professional tennis tournament held annually in March in Miami, Florida that draws some of the top tennis talent on the men's and women's tours. Also known as the Miami Masters, it is an ATP World Tour Masters 1000 event on the men's tour and a Premier Mandatory event on the women's tour. The tennis event is held at Hard Rock Stadium where the NFL's Miami Dolphins play among other events. It was previously held at the Tennis Center at Crandon Park in Key Biscayne just off the coast of Miami.

The event moved to Hard Rock Stadium after over $500 million was spent in renovations, including a new tennis campus featuring 29 permanent tournament and practice courts as well as additional food and entertainment facilities. The 14,000-seat center court within Hard Rock Stadium is designed for intimacy, luxury and a comfortable fan experience. A state-of-the-art in-stadium shade canopy and the largest video board in tennis offers a luxury seating experience.

  • obstructed view

The tennis was great, what we were able to watch! When I purchased our tickets through Ticketmaster the details of the tickets give you a 'seat view'. We've been going to the Miami Open in Key Biscayne for some time now and had the same ticket package there over the years. We were not familiar with the Hard Rock seating so we tried several different locations in 3 days. We got a bonus when Roger Federer had a rain out and played Friday night. Our ticket location was section 347 row 10 seats 1 &2. They looked great from the 'seat view'. Well they weren't great, they sat right behind a thick tube railing were seat 1 was obstructed, and I don't mean a little obstruction. To make matters worse, the stairs leading up behind us ran directly in front of our seats, and the ushers let people come and go anytime during the match. I paid $269.40 for the worst tickets I have ever had in ANY event. NOT HAPPY!

    by R. S. on 4/1/19Hard Rock Stadium - MiamiRating: 5 out of 5

Venue is extremely fan friendly. Great Stadium court as well as Grandstand Court for viewing. The practice courts are nearby to go and watch players practice. Food choices are plenty with a fantastic Miami atmosphere!

  • Miami Open Tennis. Main Stadium - 7pm Session 20 WTA sgl, SF

by cutocalle on 3/31/19Hard Rock Stadium - MiamiRating: 2 out of 5

Due to the rain delay the entry process was messy, but the staff did all they can do. In reference to the new Hard rock Stadium, I did not like it, I thought it was awful and the access routes not clearly identify for easy access. Had a good view, but overall Crandon Park was more intimate and quaint..The design is poorly done and quite unattractive, just designed to make money, and indeed the tickets almost double. Conclusion: Did not improve over Crandon Park, Most likely not coming back next year..I'll stick to the US Open-NY

  • almost perfect

    by C. F. on 3/31/19Hard Rock Stadium - MiamiRating: 5 out of 5

Buying tickets, getting questions answered by customer service, going to venue and able to spend several hours the first day with ground passes was all great...not being able to go the second day to watch first round matches was a real bummer due to rain which lasted all day. Since we didn't even go, we were able to get a refund easily and our customer service rep was excellent and helped with that. I will definitely purchase through ticketmaster again without a doubt. Thank you!

  • Incredible Job Dolphins Organization!!!

    by T. Fox 33 on 3/31/19Hard Rock Stadium - MiamiRating: 5 out of 5

My wife and I have been attending the Miami open each year since 2014. We were looking forward to this year and seeing how the new facility would be. I have to admit I was skeptical that it could feel like the event we love so much, since it was no longer on beautiful Key Biscayne, and being held in a football stadium. Thank YOU Miami Dolphins and all associated with this event! The atmosphere all around the grounds was incredible. It really felt like we were in a tennis village and everything was first class. The stadium was amazing. Well done, folks! See you next year! - T Fox ps..some shade at grandstands would be a good improvement to consider.

  • Terrible logistics, very long waiting time to enter

by Jose V on 3/31/19Hard Rock Stadium - MiamiRating: 1 out of 5

Very long lines, long waiting time, not enough personal , not enough entrances to make the process flow. Confusion from employees about when tu enter the complex, they wouldn’ let people in the complex at 6.45 pm, because morning games were still playing, rather than let them in the complex, not the court, just the grounds, so we could get something to eat or drink and having a seat, while waiting for night session. Not enough tables or seats outside the courts. It was a joke, terrible experience. I am not plannining in going back next year

  • Awsome venue. Did not miss previous venue

    by D. M. on 3/31/19Hard Rock Stadium - MiamiRating: 5 out of 5

Probably the only thing that needs some adjustment is the sound in the stadium. It was not very clear, but still I love it the whole experience.

  • Not impressed

by Cristy on 3/31/19Hard Rock Stadium - MiamiRating: 1 out of 5

I believe it was a big mistake moving the Miami open to the Hard Rock stadium. It was a rainy day so all the games were delayed due to weather. Not saying that would have been different than Key Biscayne; I do think that if the Miami open was moving for bigger and better facilities the fact that it doesn’t have a retractable roof it is a big mistak and an inconvenient to both players and audience. I assisted to women’s finals and men’s quarter final which I believe those are very important games. And I was surprised to see how the stadium was at least 80% empty.

  • Last Weekend

Due to intense afternoon sun, weekend finals should start at 3:30-4 00 PM.

  • Great experience!

    by E. P. on 3/30/19Hard Rock Stadium - MiamiRating: 4 out of 5

The venue was beautiful, especially considering that almost everything was a temporary setup and will be taken down after the event. Only one thing I would have liked would be 1 or 2 sit down restaurants with waiter service. There were a variety of food options, but all except one was "takeout" style. The one restaurant with service was only for a small bite. It would have been nice to have one place to relax for dinner.

  • Lovely

by THIAGO G RODRIGUES on 3/30/19Hard Rock Stadium - MiamiRating: 4 out of 5

Nice new place and installments for the Miami Open. Very good atmosphere for tennis. I just was upset about the official store had been closed before the last match. In my case I went back home without any souvenir.

  • was very uncomfortable

by gilbert on 3/30/19Hard Rock Stadium - MiamiRating: 3 out of 5

the grounds were lovely there was a good selection of refreshments and food. however, there was no decaf coffee available in the entire venue. not a big deal unless you can't tolerate caffeine. the seats on the 200 side were in the sun until 5:30. it was unbearably hot. we had to leave our seats numerous times to cool off. it was so hot that the plastic seats felt like frying pans. finally getting out was a nightmare. there were no sings as to where to get to ives dairy road or the turnpike. we guessed wrong and it took us 45 minutes to get back to aventura. we will not go back unless we can get seats on the other side of the stadium in the shade.

  • A big improvement

by Programom on 3/30/19Hard Rock Stadium - MiamiRating: 4 out of 5

Loved getting to the Hard Rock Stadium via the Fl Turnpike. The parking was very easy, although expensive . It was easy getting into the grounds and they provided clear bags to carry things. Security was fast and easy. Did not like watching a match in the stadium. It was not cozy at all. We spent the whole day in the Grandstand. We also watched other matches on the outer courts, although several of them had limited seating and long lines exiting and entering. the food was expensive and not very good. Very often, things were cold. We did not have access to the better restaurants.. The grounds were beautiful and there was plenty of seating. All in all, a big improvement over Key Biscayne and we would return.

  • A smaller and friendlier version of the US Open.

    by k. g. on 3/30/19Hard Rock Stadium - MiamiRating: 5 out of 5

We will definitely attend again in the future. If there is any room for improvement, it would be to increase the limited number of matches in the stadium. Also, when they canceled the Federer / Medevev night match, people who paid a lot of money for tickets for just the Tuesday night matches were screwed. But overall, we had a wonderful time.

  • Miami

Great new stadium. Keep up the good work! Make it better and better each year.

  • Doubles should be played on bigger courts.

by Ana on 3/30/19Hard Rock Stadium - MiamiRating: 3 out of 5

A large percentage of fans are doubles players and enjoy watching it. You can tell by the lines we had to endure to watch doubles. They should have them on bigger courts even if earlier than 11am.
